So I noticed a rather heavy onset of some spam mail to my E-Mail accounts that insists upon their ability to teach me a new language in 10 days. I got an interesting idea for that but instead of actually following through and executing that idea I decided a thought experiment would be equally fun. Besides, most people that say they did stuff like this don’t actually do it anyway, so the only difference between my version and theirs is that I don’t pretend mine happened. Anyway, I imagined an Exchange something like this:
“Hello, I’m interested in your Language teaching services”
“Excellent! What language would you like to learn?”
“High Elven, please.”
“That… That’s not a language.”
“Are you sure? I saw it in a video game, and there are elves on like TV so they must be real. Are you saying Spanish isn’t real? Because Spanish people and Elves have one thing on common: And that is that I’ve only seen them on TV.”
“No, Spanish is a real language, would you like to go with that”
“So now you are saying that While the idea of a High Elven language is ridiculous, Spanish isn’t? How am I supposed to keep track of what is and isn’t real. I’m not on TV, does that mean I’m real? And what if I’m not, what happens to all my garlic?”
“You are going to have to be a bit more coherent or I’ll cut you off”
“OK, ok, sorry about that. So you don’t have “High Elven” then?”
“no, I’m afraid not”
“Hmm… well in that case I guess I can go with Betazoid.”
“*click*”
Anyway that is just a random thing that popped in my head. It doesn’t even have anything to do with programming. Or even computers.
