[01:01]<@jacky> ev0r: Hello
[01:01]<ev0r> hi there :)
[01:01]<@jacky> ev0r: you can lurk here all you want
[01:01]<ev0r> thanks!
[01:01]<@jacky> it's a long story how this channel came to exist
[01:02]<@jacky> but we chat sometimes
[01:02]<@jacky> and I get comptuer help from people that actually know what they are talking about
[01:02]<@jacky> BC_Programming is some kind of guru
[01:02]<ev0r> you mean more than you? hah
[01:02]<@jacky> and camerongray is in school to become a guru
[01:02]<@jacky> I just fiddle with bots
[01:02]<@jacky> pottsi is a Network Admin here, and knows a lot of networking stuff
[01:03]<@jacky> you had some sort of question about domains, etc.
[01:03]<ev0r> well thanks for the welcome. sure I can learn a lot here
[01:03]<@jacky> I mentioned BC
[01:03]<@jacky> either one of those three would be good to ask
[01:03]<@jacky> the others here? probably good too
[01:03]<ev0r> yeah, I currently own a domain, and I wonder.. isn't there a way I can use that as a vhost or something on IRC? *!*@<mydomain>
[01:04]<@jacky> sure I can learn a lot here <<< you can when you catch them alive, here. heheehehehe
[01:04]<@jacky> pottsi: are you around?
[01:04]<@jacky> pottsi is in Europe, come to think of it, he's probably asleep
[01:04]<@jacky> BC_Programming
[01:05]<ev0r> probably they're AFK heh
[01:05]<@jacky> usually are
[01:05]<@jacky> BC_Programming is a few hours behind us though
[01:06]<@jacky> Oh well... don't lose faith and become frustrated
[01:06]<@jacky> some day, you'll catch 'em
[01:06]<@jacky> HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[01:06]<@jacky> not sure you should do that... ChanbotIX likes me
[01:06]<ev0r> hahaha
[01:06]<@jacky> honestly, I'd have to look in the settings. heheehehehe
[04:01] * jacky (the_kink@mib-6B8D414E.slsbmd.east.verizon.net) Quit (Ping timeout: 183 seconds)
[10:24]<@BC_Programming> I think Quassel let's you do something like that, camerongray uses it and his whois shows the camerongray.me site he has it set up on
[10:25]<camerongray> Ahh, hey BC_Programming!
[10:25]<camerongray> It's done through the reverse DNS on the IP address I connect from
[10:26]<camerongray> So unfortunately you need to be connecting to IRC from a dedicated IP that you are able to configure rDNS on
[10:28]<camerongray> I run my client in a VM on my server so I'm able to assign it a static IP and configure the reverse DNS with the provider
[12:52]<ev0r> oh ok
[12:54]<ev0r> so, I would need a static public IP in the first place.. my ISP gives me a dynamic one and charcges huge amounts for a static one.. so I guess I won't be able to do that hehe
[12:56]<ev0r> thanks for the reply tho.
[13:12]<camerongray> Yeah, the other option is to run an IRC client or bouncer on a remote server such as a VPS - That's what I do
[16:11] * camerongray (quassel@mib-5AA3F9DC.ehl.camerongray.me) Quit (Ping timeout: 181 seconds)
[16:47] * camerongray (quassel@mib-5AA3F9DC.ehl.camerongray.me) has joined #glitchpc
