[18:21]<@BC_Programming> Got that laptop fixed up
[18:21]<@BC_Programming> Still unbelievable that anybody sells laptops with such low specs- 1Ghz and 2GB of RAM, geez

[18:44]<+camerongray> BC_Programming: OH wow
[18:44]<+camerongray> BC_Programming: That's the thing with Lenovo, they make a lot of great stuff and a lot of crap
[18:44]<+camerongray> They sort of cater at all price points
[18:45]<@BC_Programming> yeah part of the problem was the specs, the other part is that it comes with so much crap installed
[18:45]<+camerongray> Yeah, this is why I only buy business machines, no crap
[18:46]<@BC_Programming> It did appear surprisingly well built
[18:47]<@BC_Programming> until I pooped out the CD-ROM tray, cheapest plastic ever
[18:47]<@BC_Programming> popped* my bowels aren't digital yet
[18:50]<+camerongray> hehhe
[18:50]<+camerongray> Yeah, even at the cheaper end they are reasonably built
[18:50]<+camerongray> In fact, most laptops nowadays do seem to be
[18:50]<+camerongray> I think it's largely due to how thin they make them, a lot denser :P
[18:50]<@BC_Programming> yeah
[18:51]<+camerongray> Like my laptop - Totally solid
[18:51]<+camerongray> Base doesn't flex.etc
[18:51]<@BC_Programming> I'll probably build a mid-range system or get a laptop in April, because I have 3 paydays in the month and
[18:51]<@BC_Programming> and nothing
[18:51]<+camerongray> What would you use another desktop for?
[18:52]<@BC_Programming> something to put on the desk I bought
[18:52] * +camerongray looks at spare Athlon II x2 desktop sitting in corner of room
[18:52]<+camerongray> haha
[18:52]<+camerongray> Get a laptop :P
[18:52]<@BC_Programming> It's just sitting in my other bedroom all lonely
[18:52]<+camerongray> Could also get a dock for it and put that on your desk
[18:53]<+camerongray> I do need to think of a use for this Athlon desktop - Was free, all I did was fit a non-explosive PSU
[18:53]<@BC_Programming> I hope you used circle brand, they are great /s
[18:53]<+camerongray> :D
[18:53]<+camerongray> Oh yes, the dealer gave me a very good deal and told me it was the best brand of PSU in the world
[18:54]<@BC_Programming> they would never lie about such things
[18:54]<+camerongray> Of course not
[18:54]<+camerongray> And my customers want cheap PSUs, they don't care about the quality
[18:54]<+camerongray> I mean, they always say the cheapest when I ask "do you want an expensive PSU or a cheap one"
[18:55]<@BC_Programming> They don't care about the case either so I just cut a few holes in the cardboard box the motherboard comes in
[18:55]<+camerongray> lol!
[18:55]<+camerongray> But yeah, in all seriousness, it's a 300w FSP
[18:55]<+camerongray> Got a great deal on them - Ebay seller was selling them as used although they look brand new for £7 each
[18:55]<@BC_Programming> is FSP a brand? never heard of them
[18:55]<+camerongray> Yeah, Fortron Source?
[18:56]<+camerongray> They mostly sell to OEMs and make for other companies such as Antec
[18:56]<+camerongray> As far as I can tell they would have come from OEM PCs (since FSPs like this are usually only sold to OEMs)
[18:56]<@BC_Programming> ahh I see
[18:56]<+camerongray> I imainge that someone bought a bunch of off the shelf PCs, swapped out the PSUs for whatever reason and sold these off, not a spec of dust on them
[18:57]<+camerongray> Not quite seasonic level but good, solid units never the less
[18:57]<+camerongray> nevertheless*
[18:58]<@BC_Programming> Here's something fun, I get to setup our Continuous integration server :D
[18:58]<+camerongray> Oh nice
[18:58]<+camerongray> I think we have one of them in Tardis but I've kept out of it :P
[18:59]<@BC_Programming> I was using Teamcity but hit a license limit and I doubt we could justify the $2000 for the commercial license
[18:59]<@BC_Programming> so I'm trying jenkins... got trunk building with a script and adding our other branches
[19:00]<+camerongray> I think it's Jenkins we have
[19:00]<@BC_Programming> It's great because it does all the annoying crap we had to do before to deploy a program- build it, build the installer, and upload it to the updater
[19:01]<@BC_Programming> "The updater" being the thing I created, I've wedged myself deep, they can't cut me loose now mwa haha
[19:01]<+camerongray> hehehe
[19:02]<@BC_Programming> we finally have same table and field names
[19:03]<@BC_Programming> no more XPOSSUM, PAYTMP, XPOSQUSM, XPOSTRAN, and hundreds of tables with 8-character names
[19:03]<@BC_Programming> sane table names, I mean
[19:06]<+camerongray> hahaha
[19:06]<+camerongray> I'm currently having websocket python+JS fun
[19:07]<@BC_Programming> ahh yes inter-browser communication I believe you mentioned?
[19:07]<+camerongray> Yep
[19:08]<+camerongray> Basically the idea is a website where you can create a playlist of YouTube videos, others can then join and add videos/upvote and downvote videos
[19:08]<+camerongray> For parties and stuff so you could play music on a single device and guests can suggest stuff
[19:09]<+camerongray> Tricky thing is keeping the playlists the same across people's devices and to do stuff so if I tell it to pause or change volume I need to get that command to the playing browser instantly
[19:10]<+camerongray> I almost have it working, just need to make it so that if it drops socket connection it gracefully reconnects and will display a message while reconnecting
