[14:25]<Craig> Morning BC
[14:26]<@BC_Programming> hi
[14:26]<Craig> Any more luck?
[14:31]<@BC_Programming> I haven't fixed the compile errors in the main project. The "login" information is in the database as well- as it, it is a table that stored login data for the application, not the database.
[14:32]<@BC_Programming> I did find the main connection string, I thought it might load from settings, but it is hard-coded as a string variable. It is an encrypted string variable though. I'll try to reverse engineer it now actually. We might get a username/password from it
[14:32]<@BC_Programming> though without a working database I'm not sure how useful that will be
[14:37]<@BC_Programming> ah
[14:38]<@BC_Programming> my mistake, it does read from a config file, that app.cfg file. It reads from that file and decrypts it using the key I found
[14:38]<@BC_Programming> I don't imagine you've stumbled on "app.cfg" anywhere on the backup? I'd expect it would be in the program folder
[14:46]<Craig> I thought I told you I found it in the application folder,
[14:47]<Craig> and it should be a hidden file in the zip I gave you the first time
[14:47]<Craig> Where would I find the database from the SQL?
[14:47]<@BC_Programming> I thought you found TWeld.exe.d7705550.ini
[14:47]<Craig> That was the first file, the second one I found was app.cfg
[14:47]<@BC_Programming> I'll try that string you found inside anyway and see what it outputs
[14:47]<Craig> ok
[14:48]<@BC_Programming> "Password=Dean1973;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=sa;Initial Catalog=CoreMetalFab;Data Source=CRMTLFABOFFICE\0\0"
[14:49]<Craig> Hahahaha thats awesome
[14:49]<Craig> :P
[14:50]<Craig> Any suggestions for where the database may be?
[14:51]<Craig> Or what they would usually look like?
[14:52]<Craig> Never mind, I found it...
[14:52]<Craig> :P
[14:52]<@BC_Programming> I think it normally would be in the SQL Server install folder in program files
[14:52]<Craig> Right under my nose.
[14:52]<Craig> How about MSSQL-Data as a partition?
[14:52]<@BC_Programming> yeah could have been setup to store it there
[14:52]<Craig> :P
[14:54]<@BC_Programming> I'm downloading SQL Server 2005
[14:56]<jamer> i got my cpu and motherboard :D
[14:58]<@BC_Programming> get a daughterboard and you can have a family
[14:59]<jamer> :P
[15:01]<jamer> waiting on my ram and thats it and ill have a way better desktop :P
[15:01]<@BC_Programming> as long as you don't let out the magic smoke
[15:02]<+camerongray> haha, hey BC_Programming, Craig & jamer
[15:03]<Craig> Hahahah Hey camerongray, and jamer
[15:03]<jamer> its actually been a busy day at work today
[15:04]<+camerongray> I've been getting sidetracked by my own projects instead of uni works
[15:04]<+camerongray> work*
[15:04]<@BC_Programming> I just tried to install SQL Server SP4 and couldn't understand why it kept saying there was no matching product for the install
[15:05]<@BC_Programming> I guess it is just the service pack and not SQL Server itself :P
[15:05]<jamer> camerongray the cpu was considered open boxed, but it was never opened
[15:05]<+camerongray> Ahh nice!
[15:05]<+camerongray> They sometimes do that with any customer returns
[15:06]<jamer> yeah
[15:06]<jamer> motherboard i know for a fact was opened
[15:06]<@BC_Programming> I've been considering building another PC
[15:06]<@BC_Programming> not a replacement for this one of course
[15:06]<Craig> Oh yeah? What are you going to use to build it BC?
[15:06]<Craig> What type of parts?
[15:06]<@BC_Programming> Money probably
[15:07]<@BC_Programming> darn you beat me with the qualifier :P
[15:07]<Craig> I don't know that Money would turn screws... :P
[15:07]<Craig> Now you have me installing a Windows XP VM to start from the beginning. :P
[15:07]<@BC_Programming> It would be built towards value more than performance like this one was
[15:08]<+camerongray> But why do you need it? :P
[15:08]<@BC_Programming> No reason
[15:08]<Craig> :P sounds like me.
[15:08]<Craig> :P
[15:08]<jamer> the motherboard is an ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS
[15:08]<+camerongray> What about doing an HTPC?
[15:08]<@BC_Programming> I Have my old desktop setup as a Jenkins CI Server but that is temporary until we can move it to the office server
[15:08]<Craig> Wife: Why do you want to build another computer?, Me: Cause... I like..... building computers?
[15:10]<jamer> Craig my fiance said something similar" why do you need to build another computer" "idk, this one is slow and not that great"
[15:10]<@BC_Programming> I have three XP VMs setup in VMWare for some reason
[15:10]<Craig> Funny thing is though Jamer, I have a 6core i7 4930K with 32GB ram,
[15:10]<Craig> I don't need another computer.
[15:10]<Craig> I have an 8 core server with 16GB ram,
[15:10]<jamer> XD
[15:11]<Craig> and a router with a dual core Athlon x2 II 3.2 Ghz, with 8GB ram,
[15:11]<Craig> Trust me, everything I have is overkill. :P
[15:11]<@BC_Programming> Now to squirrel away these SQL Server 2005 ISOs into my ISO folder
[15:11]<jamer> i have my athlon x2 with 4 gb. my new one is gonna be a fx4300 with 8 gb of ram once done
[15:11]<Craig> Go for an intel,.
[15:11]<@BC_Programming> One day I may need to install Visual Studio 2014 Preview 2 and then who will be laughing
[15:11]<Craig> It will be faster.
[15:12]<+camerongray> Money is a thing
[15:12]<+camerongray> Also, I distinctly remember you being "Get an AMD, so much better" you finally saw sense? :P
[15:12]<jamer> Craig i bought the cpu and have it already :P
[15:12]<@BC_Programming> ooh AMD that is something I should go for with a conservative build
[15:12]<Craig> Money may be, but performance per dollar, even a lower cost i3 would be better.
[15:12]<Craig> Return it. :p
[15:12]<@BC_Programming> obviously cyrix is the way to go
[15:12]<@BC_Programming> or Via
[15:13]<Craig> Hahahahah
[15:13]<@BC_Programming> none of this "Intel" and "AMD" nonsense right?
[15:13]<Craig> I don't know if they would support windows, LOP
[15:13]<+camerongray> lol
[15:13]<Craig> :P
[15:13]<Craig> Could you imagine running on a Via 8 core or something?
[15:13]<@BC_Programming> Cyrix and Via have both made x86 processors
[15:13]<+camerongray> I really want to see ARM on a desktop though
[15:13]<@BC_Programming> Cyrix M-II was a P2 class system; Via C3 Samuel was ~P3
[15:13]<Craig> I would rather do a 8Core Atom server base,
[15:14]<+camerongray> Like, a really powerful ARM chip that takes advantage of desktops having the potential for higher power consumption
[15:14]<@BC_Programming> (both were cheap-o alternatives to AMD/Intel)
[15:14]<Craig> More powerfull than you may think.
[15:14]<@BC_Programming> oooh ooh
[15:14]<@BC_Programming> it could be a four-core system instead
[15:14]<@BC_Programming> and called the fourarm
[15:14]<@BC_Programming> get it?
[15:14]<Craig> :P
[15:14]<@BC_Programming> With Tibia technology (tm)
[15:15]<+camerongray> BC_Programming: What abotu building an HTPC? Could work on getting a nice case, making it silent.etc
[15:15]<Craig> He doesn't need an HTPC, He needs a Kodi Box, with a media server share.
[15:15]<jamer> get a raspberry pie 2
[15:15]<@BC_Programming> heh pie
[15:16]<+camerongray> I've tried stuff like XBMC on stuff before but it's always felt too restrictive
[15:16]<Craig> I want to build a router with a minnowboard, http://store.netgate.com/MinnowBoardMax.aspx
[15:16]<jamer> im saying pie instead of pi cause its 3-14-15 :P
[15:16]<Craig> It has a card you can plugin to give you PCIe Wificards.
[15:17]<+camerongray> I now just have a couple of nice WIndows machines that work great. Living room has a 2U rackmounted one with a Celeron G1610 and Windows 8.1 and my bedroom has an Optiplex 755 that I threw a Radeon 5450 in and upgraded to Windows 7
[15:17]<@BC_Programming> heh I still haven't gotten that laptop I talked up for so long like a month ago
[15:18]<Craig> Hahahah
[15:18]<Craig> I got a laptop for free. :)
[15:18]<Craig> i3 with SSD and 8GB ram
[15:18]<+camerongray> I got that 755 for free
[15:18]<@BC_Programming> Ended up buying a bunch of stuff to fill my new place
[15:18]<Craig> Lenovo,
[15:18]<@BC_Programming> one day I will finish building the desk I bought
[15:18]<Craig> reinstalled with Ubuntu Gnome.
[15:18]<+camerongray> As well as the HTPC I had before (Athlon II x2 250)
[15:19]<+camerongray> Arguably the previous HTPC was a bit faster than the 755 but the 755 is a far nicer, quieter system
[15:19]<+camerongray> One thing I do need is a new access point, but I'll wait until I have more money
[15:19]<Craig> I am going to shoot for a silent Media center next time, SSD, Atom, with no fans,
[15:19]<Craig> maybe 100W
[15:20]<+camerongray> Nicev
[15:20]<+camerongray> Mine aren't fanless but good enough
[15:20]<@BC_Programming> Did I mention I got a new printer?
[15:20]<+camerongray> Bedroom one is near silent, Living room one is a bit louder along with the rack's cooling fan and server in the rack but the sound system is so powerful it easily drowns out fans!
[15:22]<+camerongray> I need an AP that supports lots of SSIDs on diffrent VLANs and concurrent dual band
[15:22]<+camerongray> Buffalo have one but it's expensive
[15:22]<Craig> netgate.com check it out camerongray
[15:23]<+camerongray> Yeah, they have the Unifis which look nice, I can get them from a different place in the UK
[15:23]<+camerongray> But dual band unifis are extremely expensive
[15:23]<Craig> I want to get an AC Pro one,
[15:23]<Craig> 300$ but worth it,.
[15:24]<+camerongray> lol
[15:24]<+camerongray> My router is good though - Mikrotik RB2011uias-2hnd-in
[15:25]<Craig> I still like my PFRouter more than any other. :P
[15:26]<+camerongray> We are setting up a PFSense router in Tardis so I'll see how I get on with that
[15:27]<Craig> If you need setup advise, or help, just ask. :)
[15:27]<+camerongray> Will do :P
[15:27]<Craig> Advice?
[15:27]<Craig> Advise?
[15:28]<Craig> ... now I am screwed, won't be sure untill I google it..
[15:28]<Craig> Yup, Advice*
[15:30]<+camerongray> Craig: This is what I have in the corner of my living room: http://imgur.com/a/hoQpg
[15:30]<+camerongray> Mix of home cinema and networking stuff
[15:30]<Craig> Nice
[15:31]<+camerongray> That rackmount machine is the HTPC
[15:32]<+camerongray> Server is the one next to the UPS (It's just an Intel Atom D525)
[15:33]<@BC_Programming> HP LaserJet Pro 200 MFP Color Laser Printer
[15:33]<@BC_Programming> Soo much better than my old POS Lexmark Z816
[15:33]<+camerongray> Sweet!
[15:33]<+camerongray> I have the M1217mfw
[15:34]<@BC_Programming> nice
[15:34]<@BC_Programming> I like that that one has real buttons
[15:34]<+camerongray> Yeah
[15:35]<Craig> Hey BC, how is that VM going?
[15:35]<@BC_Programming> HAHA MONOCHROME I WIN
[15:36]<@BC_Programming> Installing SQL Server
[15:36]<Craig> Can I get a copy from you, or is there somewhere I can get a legit copy?
[15:37]<Craig> Just so they can access the database, not for anything else.
[15:39]<@BC_Programming> http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=21844
[15:39]<@BC_Programming> Express Edition should work
[15:39]<jamer> craig i can get you it also through my dreamspark
[15:40]<Craig> I am good, this is for a customer, what BC is suggesting is what I need.
[15:40]<@BC_Programming> dangit it won't let me install the database
[15:40]<Craig> Why not?
[15:40]<@BC_Programming> I need to shut down the VM and give it more RAM I suppose grrr
[15:40]<Craig> :P hahahah I gave mine 4GB
[15:41]<@BC_Programming> It did warn me that I didn't have the recommended minimum, but I didn't think it would only let me install help files
[15:41]<Craig> Might need to make it 5 because its lost a gig somewhere?
[15:41]<Craig> hahahahaahah
[15:41]<Craig> Windows XP Pro, only supported 3.5GB right?
[15:42]<@BC_Programming> 4GB-Hardware mapping which usually went to around that much yeah, applies to any non-server 32-bit Windows OS
[15:42]<@BC_Programming> apparently my XP VM is installing Windows Updates, I'll pretend that makes sense
[15:43]<jamer> lol
[15:43]<Craig> hahAHAHAHAHAH
[15:43]<Craig> Shaddup ChanbotVIII
[15:43]<Craig> I made you.
[15:44]<Craig> Well Jacky did... But I own you.
[15:45]<Craig> Hey BC,
[15:45]<Craig> you think if I copy Tycon Software over it would load on XP?
[15:45]<@BC_Programming> It might
[15:46]<@BC_Programming> with .NET 1.1 installed of course
[15:46]<Craig> Oh ok
[15:46]<Craig> I can do that.
[15:46]<Craig> Great thing about not running Windows XP on the original hardware, Much Faster! :P
[15:49] * Nat (nathan@mib-43AA8E18.reshall.berkeley.edu) has joined #glitchpc
[15:49]<Craig> Hi Nat
[15:49]<Nat> what's up!
[15:53]<Craig> Wow, BC, this software used SQL2000
[15:53]<@BC_Programming> oh
[15:53]<@BC_Programming> hmm
[15:53]<@BC_Programming> eh 2005 should be able to use the same database and upgrade it or something
[15:53]<Craig> hehehe you sure? (I have copies)
[15:54]<Craig> Also, windows authentication mode, or Mixed Mode?
[15:54]<@BC_Programming> it will change the DB though
[15:54]<Craig> ok
[15:54]<@BC_Programming> I have no idea, I've never setup SQL server before
[15:54]<Craig> sheesh, ok
[15:54]<@BC_Programming> probably just the default
[15:55]<@BC_Programming> I suppose I'll download SQL Server 2000 anyway
[15:55]<@BC_Programming> so I can add it to my collection
[15:55]<Craig> link me if you would please. :p
[15:56]<@BC_Programming> http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=22661
[15:56]<@BC_Programming> That is the only free version I can see
[15:57]<Craig> :P
[15:58]<@BC_Programming> it would be funny to move all the data to postgres and change the software to use postgres but I don't think that is possible
[15:59]<Craig> Hmmmm, I wonder how you import a database in 2005?
[15:59]<Craig> Why, is postgres better?
[16:00]<@BC_Programming> It's Open Source and easier to install
[16:00]<Nat> Postgres aims for standards compliance
[16:00]<Nat> which is nice
[16:00]<@BC_Programming> mostly I prefer it since that is what we are using for The Controller Series
[16:00]<Nat> though i think its still older than MySQL/MariaDB
[16:00]<Craig> Ahhh
[16:00]<Craig> What about MySQL?
[16:01]<Nat> i mean slower
[16:01]<Nat> not older
[16:01]<Nat> actually it might be older if you count it as the successor to Ingres
[16:01]<Nat> but, yeah i think commits are still slower than MySQL's
[16:01] * jamer (Mibbit@mib-C8D1630C.dhcp.embarqhsd.net) Quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
[16:02]<Craig> Well on that note, any clues on how to bring a database into MSSQL 2005?
[16:02]<@BC_Programming> http://db-engines.com/en/system/MariaDB%3BMySQL%3BPostgreSQL
[16:02]<Nat> my main reason for using Postgres is the builtin support for a lot of geospatial stuff and how easy it is to extend to support geographical storage
[16:02]<@BC_Programming> Craig I had a stackoverflow answer open on that question let me see
[16:03]<@BC_Programming> http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1535914/import-bak-file-to-a-database-in-sql-server
[16:03] * Aden (AdenTheDra@612AB76C.CCE31AF9.E69F483A.IP) Quit (Ping timeout: 187 seconds)
[16:08]<Craig> BC, you'll need this, http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=8961
[16:10]<@BC_Programming> I already got it imported into SQL Server 2000
[16:10]<Craig> Show off... :p
[16:11]<Craig> I am trying with 2005
[16:11]<@BC_Programming> ok so uh... what do we want to do with it again?
[16:14]<@BC_Programming> it's funny that the SQL Management Studio in SQL Server 2000 is better than PGAdmin III
[16:14]<Craig> I want to try to get that program running to talk to the server
[16:15]<@BC_Programming> oh
[16:15]<@BC_Programming> hmm
[16:16]<@BC_Programming> yeah I did kind of say it might work as-is on XP but I'm pretty sure it won't, it has some activation nonsense that would need to be removed from the program
[16:16]<Craig> Installs are so much faster. :P
[16:16]<Craig> Oh hehehe
[16:17]<Craig> Anything that can be done?
[16:17]<Craig> Not knowing how difficult that may be. :P
[16:17]<@BC_Programming> did you have a drive image?
[16:17]<Craig> Yeah
[16:18]<Craig> including the whole Registry. :>
[16:18]<Craig> What do you need/
[16:18]<@BC_Programming> yeah if you can get at the data there
[16:18]<@BC_Programming> it would be in a user hive
[16:18]<Craig> I would say I can. :P
[16:18]<Craig> Where is that?
[16:18]<@BC_Programming> presumably administrator not sure
[16:19]<@BC_Programming> it would be NTUSER.DAT in the user documents folder, if memory serves me
[16:19]<Craig> Ok, I have that file
[16:19]<Craig> Zip and send?
[16:19]<@BC_Programming> the registry key is Software\TYCON\TYCON Software Inc.\Settings with values for InstallationID and ActivationCode
[16:20]<@BC_Programming> heh it has a save routine lol
[16:20]<Craig> How do I open it?
[16:20]<Craig> Hahaha... :?
[16:20]<@BC_Programming> File->Load Hive...
[16:20]<Craig> Copy it to the other windows machine?
[16:21]<@BC_Programming> yeah
[16:21]<Craig> Not sure where or how you've left a few steps out. :P
[16:21]<@BC_Programming> RegEdit...
[16:21]<@BC_Programming> You can start regedit with Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Registry Editor
[16:21]<@BC_Programming> be sure to click
[16:21]<@BC_Programming> heh
[16:22]<@BC_Programming> Oh and use the mouse too lol
[16:23]<Craig> :P I am in reg edit in windows xp,
[16:23]<Craig> Load hive is greyed out/
[16:23]<@BC_Programming> select HKEY_USERS
[16:23]<Craig> Cool,
[16:24]<Craig> Ok, got a screenshot here, you want to ummm skype to share screens?
[16:24] * Nat (nathan@mib-43AA8E18.reshall.berkeley.edu) Quit (Client exited)
[16:25]<@BC_Programming> a screenshot? it should be two settings
[16:25]<Craig> I have an activation code, and such
[16:25]<Craig> well its a list of things really.
[16:25]<@BC_Programming> you'll want to duplicate that to your own user hive HKEY_CURRENT_USER before you try to run the program
[16:26]<Craig> Done, I believe.
[16:27]<@BC_Programming> you might need to add a new user to MSSQL as well, user sa with password DEAN1973
[16:27]<@BC_Programming> and change the computer name of the XP VM to CRMTLFABOFFICE
[16:29]<@BC_Programming> Which I think stands for Cows Relate to Media Technology loneliness frequently after blitzing the office
[16:29]<@BC_Programming> or something about Metal fabrication but that wouldn't make any sense
[16:30]<Craig> :P
[16:30]<@BC_Programming> I'm going to whittle away at the compile errors and see if I can get it to build with a modern .NET Framework
[16:30]<Craig> That would be awesome

[16:34]<Craig> Ahh, so you did need to enable mixed mode for connection, the password that you found is needed on setup.
[16:34]<Craig> Thats a sneaky move...
[16:36]<@BC_Programming> dean1973?
[16:37]<@BC_Programming> Once (or if) I get it compiling I think I might misplace all the activation stuff... :P
[16:37]<Craig> :P Thats ok, the company is gone that once opperated that activation crap./
[16:47]<Craig> Uhh!
[16:47]<Craig> Its asking for an activation code. :P
[16:48]<@BC_Programming> ahh that's something
[16:48]<@BC_Programming> I have the activation code (logic) here, we can probably reverse engineer it
[16:48]<@BC_Programming> can you get the Serial Number for the HDD in the VM?
[16:49]<Craig> Yeah I got it connected, but now its asking for activation codes, and it has an installation code.
[16:49]<Craig> Probabloy.
[16:49]<@BC_Programming> Actually maybe I could just make a "crack" program based on the activation code in the program like I did for that decrypting thing
[16:49]<Craig> 0FA89A86DFBA23BDEA71BBF45 <- installation code.
[16:50]<Craig> Where would I get this serial number?
[16:51]<@BC_Programming> nvm I don't think it's needed, it just takes the Installation code to create an activation code
[16:51]<Craig> Yeah you were right, when I got the connection string correct, the program started. :)
[16:51]<Craig> Oh hahahaha really? :P
[16:51]<@BC_Programming> give me a few minutes to make a crack program
[16:51]<Craig> We is hacking this B up. :p
[16:52]<@BC_Programming> it uses the serial number to create the installation code but obviously we have that now :P
[16:52]<Craig> :P
[16:52]<Craig> And I have the original installation code, and activation code to compare.
[16:52]<Craig> from the ol dinstall.
[16:52]<Craig> old* install.
[16:53]<@BC_Programming> I have the code that spits out a activation code from an install code, I just need to copy paste it and get it running
[16:53]<Craig> Hmm that looks like a hash>?
[16:53]<@BC_Programming> yeah it just hashes and reverses the string a bunch of times it looks like
[16:53]<Craig> I am so stoked right now. :p
[16:56]<@BC_Programming> it gives me 01A55E0DEC40B1C634A70DC80
[16:57]<@BC_Programming> (for the activation code)
[17:00]<@BC_Programming> if that doesn't work try CF805EA76A68131C95A975C79 (first one hashes with 'Tycon Software Inc.', second with 'TWeld' I'm not sure which one will be the productName
[17:02] * Nat (nathan@mib-43AA8E18.reshall.berkeley.edu) Quit (Client exited)
[17:08]<Craig> hahaha Tweld
[17:10]<Craig> HAHAHAH user name for the database access. Admin admin...
[17:10]<Craig> wow...
[17:10]<@BC_Programming> oh yeah I never did look at the user table
[17:11]<@BC_Programming> oh wow, the passwords are actually hashed, good on them
[17:11]<Craig> :P

[18:33]<Craig> I was wondering why I couldn't see any passwords that were saved. :P
[18:33]<Craig> Encryption always fails though. :P
[18:33]<Craig> Eventually.
[18:33]<@BC_Programming> they aren't encrypted, they are salted ciphers
[18:34]<Craig> Right, I was just pointing out encryption for their connection
[18:34]<Craig> Wow, that software works great now.
[18:34]<Craig> Did you have any luck with the compile errors?
[18:35]<@BC_Programming> I don't think they are fixable
[18:35]<@BC_Programming> Crystal decisions library has changed a lot and there are a bunch of variables that simply aren't defined anywhere, I don't think it decompiled properly
[18:35]<@BC_Programming> all the libraries that were included seemed to decompile fine
[18:36]<@BC_Programming> but I'm not about to just plug in random fields where the variable is missing and guess it will work :P
[18:36]<@BC_Programming> I might try redoing it in .NET Reflector with the C# option
[18:36]<Craig> :P no worries,
[18:36]<Craig> as long as I can use xp I don;t think the customer will ever care.
[19:25]<@BC_Programming> oh Craig I found this thing about .NET 1.1 on Vista/7 and probably later
