[15:08]<@BC_Programming> interesting, apparently Wii Remotes are Bluetooth devices, and I can connect them to my PC
[15:09]<@BC_Programming> unfortunately I need the IR Bar to be on and cannot turn on the Wii U or else it basically takes control of the Wii Remote
[15:09]<@BC_Programming> oh well
[15:32]<jamer> and mostcertianly my cpu is coming in thurday
[15:32]<@BC_Programming> oh yeah- you got the thermal paste for that? and a cooler for it that will work?
[15:33]<jamer> yeah
[15:34]<jamer> if not ive got 30 dollars
[15:34]<jamer> thermal paste i know ive got
[15:34]<jamer> i bought 30 grams of it
[15:34]<@BC_Programming> ok cool, just checking, since it is used I imagine it won't come with all the stuff from a retail CPU
[15:35]<jamer> current cooler is the reference cooler from an athlon x2
[15:36]<jamer> its not my first rodeo
[15:36]<@BC_Programming> heh
[15:37]<jamer> worked on a family memeber's computer
[15:37]<jamer> cant complain for 20 dollars for installing avast and doinga scan for viruses
[15:38]<@BC_Programming> heh my Bosses wife gave me 100 dollars when I set up her new PC
[15:38]<@BC_Programming> that was possibly the worst day of my life though
[15:38]<jamer> XD
[15:39]<@BC_Programming> "Oh btw I use this super proprietary Software that only runs on XP but I need it to work in Win7"
[15:39]<jamer> this wasnt that bad
[15:39]<jamer> delete norton and install avast
[15:40]<@BC_Programming> heh
[15:40]<@BC_Programming> "while I was installing Avast I found a missing Fribble in the Avalon Node"
[15:40]<jamer> XD
[15:40]<jamer> their norton ran out so i told them about avast and theyliked the idea
[15:42]<jamer> surprised the person i was with when the person asked how much do i owe you
[15:44]<@BC_Programming> Jeeez Patio can be rather dumb
[15:45]<@BC_Programming> telling somebody not to use the "Floppy IDE Cable" because it is "reversed for floppy functions"
[15:46]<jamer> is my floppy dick reserved for floppy functions also?
[15:46]<@BC_Programming> oh the context was somebody installing a HDD
[15:47]<jamer> iknow XD
[15:47]<@BC_Programming> I would think the floppy drive connector not fitting at all might be a good clue that it doesn't work
[17:19]<+camerongray> lol
[17:19]<+camerongray> I'm currently watching DB being confused and trying to work out if I should jump in
[17:20]<@BC_Programming> Windows workspace RAM!
[17:20]<+camerongray> Nah, someone has a DSL router and a cable modem
[17:20]<+camerongray> The correct answer is "You can't use it"
[17:20]<@BC_Programming> Client Call brb
[17:20]<+camerongray> But he can't seem to understand that connecting the modem to the switch ports won't work
[17:20]<@BC_Programming> hrh
[17:20]<+camerongray> lol!
[17:21]<+camerongray> I'll let this one play out, lets see how badly he mucks up
[17:22]<+camerongray> But, can DB understand a simple home network setup, only time willt ell
[17:22]<+camerongray> will tell*
[17:23]<+camerongray> I've decided now that unless DB's bad advice would lead to the guest losing money/data or damaging something, I'll let it pan out and see what happens
[17:24]<+camerongray> I predict this will end in "Connect the modem to any of the ethernet ports" followed by "If I connect more than one device it doesn't work"
[17:25]<+camerongray> Still baffled saying that nothing states that the ethernet ports are "output only"
[17:26]<@BC_Programming> Basic networking is hard!
[17:26]<+camerongray> Durrr, what's a WAN port... :P
[17:27]<+camerongray> I had fun with mine, guy comes to install my FTTC, finsihes up and says "Just connect the modem to your router and check it works"
[17:27]<+camerongray> 20 mins later my response was "I trust you that it works, my router doesn't, just leave, it's fine"
[17:27]<+camerongray> Where I then found that my router's Gigabit ports explode when you try and connect my modem
[17:28]<+camerongray> So I had to hook the modem up to a 10/100 port and muck around with settings to make it treat ETH10 as WAN
[17:28]<+camerongray> Guest is pointing out that what D-Link said is against what DB said, this will be fun
[17:28]<+camerongray> HAHHA
[17:28]<+camerongray> The D-Link guy is a "crap tech"
[17:29]<+camerongray> You heard it here first, DB knows more than D-Link about their routers
[17:31]<+camerongray> wow
[17:31]<+camerongray> "connect an ethernet cable from touter topc . connect router to phone socket . setup internet connection , with ip details's, logon code. etc ."
[17:31]<+camerongray> "Connect router to phone socket"
[17:31]<+camerongray> He's completely missed the point of the question
[17:34]<+camerongray> Poor guy, has obviously never seen a non-DSL connection before
[17:36]<+camerongray> I'd love to give him my router and modem (both totally reset) and tell him to try and get a working internet connection
[17:36]<+camerongray> He'd be totally baffled
[17:37]<+camerongray> And now the guest gives up and leaves...
[17:38]<+camerongray> You know what my router is like... - Even I can barely work it at times :P
[17:50]<+camerongray> haha, nice
[17:51]<+camerongray> DB left, guest came back, I sorted their problem in a few seconds
[17:51]<@BC_Programming> lol
[17:51]<+camerongray> DB appeared back during this then quickly left when he realise
[17:51]<+camerongray> realised*
[17:51]<@BC_Programming> hahaha
[17:52]<@BC_Programming> I just learned I'm getting a new boss on Wednesday, new engineering manager
[17:52]<@BC_Programming> Nobody tells me these things lol
[17:53]<@BC_Programming> Nobody was let go afaik... of course I wouldn't know that either I suppose
[17:54]<+camerongray> http://pastebin.com/vLiNFAYc - There we go
[17:56]<@BC_Programming> haha the rejoin and leave is epic
[17:56]<+camerongray> Yeah

[17:56]<+camerongray> db100547 (Mibbit@mib-7E41652D.dyn.plus.net) has joined #computerhope
[17:56]<+camerongray> Just did it again
[17:57]<+camerongray> I swear I don't know how he can cope with day to day life
[17:58]<+camerongray> I mean, I'm hardly an expert by any means but it's just amazing how much nonsense DB comes out with
[17:59]<+camerongray> Wonder what he would say if he saw my network other than "stupid" or "pointless"
[17:59]<+camerongray> "completely over the top" would be totally justified though :P
[17:59]<@BC_Programming> hmm now I'm worried about this new guy
[17:59]<+camerongray> Why? Does he , type , LIKE "this"?
[18:00]<@BC_Programming> no I know nothing about them for a start
[18:00]<+camerongray> Ahh
[18:00]<@BC_Programming> I'm just learning they are even starting today because I asked a slightly related question about getting new WOs
[18:00]<@BC_Programming> as in I learned they are starting today, not that they started today
[18:01]<@BC_Programming> if I didn't ask on wednesday I would have got a Skype message "hai I'm your new boss lolz" or something
[18:01]<+camerongray> hehe
[18:01]<@BC_Programming> And given I'm the only one here without a CS degree...
[18:01]<+camerongray> We've hired a new developer at work
[18:02]<@BC_Programming> hmm, though, I'm responsible for some critical components like the Updater so I guess I have that going for me
[18:02]<+camerongray> I've seen her twice, once when I almost fell down the stairs running late into work and then the following week running late again into the office to get on a call while dripping with sweat dressed in the complete opposite of "smart"
[18:03]<@BC_Programming> She probably complained, "Why do I have to work with homeless people"
[18:04]<+camerongray> haha
[18:05]<+camerongray> The squirrel was also living on my desk at that point so she must think I'm more crazy than I am
[18:22]<jamer> camerongray you are crzy
[18:35]<@BC_Programming> heh nothing like a project file that crashes Visual Studio every time it is opened
[19:35]<@BC_Programming> apparently Robin Williams died, huh
[19:48]<jamer> yeah
