[14:26]<+camerongray> Woo, Calum is here
[14:26]<+camerongray> And Woo, I said Calum, not ChanbotVIII
[14:26]<@Calum> \o/
[14:28]<@Calum> hehe
[14:28]<@jacky> Calum: Good afternoon (evening)
[14:29]<@Calum> good evening (afternoon)
[14:29]<@jacky> heh
[14:29]<+camerongray> lol!
[14:35]<@BC_Programming> pidgeons for all!
[14:44]<@Calum> camerongray - have the option of picking up a Hazro 27" for £135, what do you reckon?
[14:44]<+camerongray> YES!
[14:44]<+camerongray> Which one?
[14:44]<@Calum> 27WC, glass fronted
[14:44]<+camerongray> Ahh
[14:44]<+camerongray> Still a brilliant deal
[14:44]<@Calum> no trapped dust either :P
[14:44]<+camerongray> nice
[14:45]<@Calum> I loved the look of the glass fronted models and wanted to buy one when I got my PCBank, but I didn't fancy getting one with dust behind the glass
[14:45]<+camerongray> Ahh
[14:45]<+camerongray> I like mine being metal :P
[14:45]<@Calum> I don't know what I'd do with another 27" though, I'd need a new desk and stuff
[14:45]<@Calum> Yeah, yours does look a lot better, but you get what you pay for I guess
[14:48]<@Calum> trouble is this is down south, nowhere near where I'm planning to be anytime soon, unless I make an excuse to head to our nearest site and grab it while I'm there
[14:48]<@BC_Programming> I'm guessing that is a monitor
[14:49]<@Calum> indeed
[14:49]<@BC_Programming> is that a 1440p?
[14:50]<@Calum> yeah
[14:50]<@Calum> I already have a Korean one but this is pretty damn cheap
[14:50]<@BC_Programming> Yeah
[14:51]<@BC_Programming> I have a QNIX myself And I've even not had issues with it's multiple inputs
[14:51] * Poetrist (Mibbit@mib-AC49D6E9.access.telenet.be) has joined #glitchpc
[14:51]<@Calum> ah yeah, mine's just DVI

[14:52]<@BC_Programming> A man of few words
[14:52]<@Calum> ok...
[14:52]<@jacky> dang... you all are ugly
[14:52]<@jacky> scared off another one...
[14:52]<@jacky> >g<
[14:53]<@BC_Programming> Hey it's not my fault, just look at my mother
[14:53]<@jacky> oh
[14:53]<@jacky> ok
[14:53]<@BC_Programming> wait
[14:53]<@BC_Programming> yeah I'm going with that
[14:53]<@jacky> heh
[14:53]<@BC_Programming> At any rate getting the multiple inputs worked out well since I was able to connect my Wii U right to my monitor
[14:54]<@Calum> ah nice!
[14:55]<@BC_Programming> it came with an HDMI cable which is nice, too bad the Component cables for a gamecube run something ridiculous like $200
[14:56]<@Calum> wow, seriously?
[14:56]<@BC_Programming> yep, 180-220 or so usually
[14:56]<@Calum> that's crazy, how come?
[14:57]<@BC_Programming> they are very rare and they aren't something that say a chinese company could manufacture, since there is some circuitry within the cord/plug that does... stuff?
[14:57]<@Calum> ah, gotcha
[14:59]<@BC_Programming> best I can do right now is a USB TV Tuner and S-Video for SNES and gamecube, not that they are exactly capable of like 1080p or something
[15:11]<@jacky> see you all later...

[16:53]<+camerongray> Such a deep question
[16:54]<@BC_Programming> Am I now or am I later, am I then and do I matter

[17:41]<+camerongray> Woop, getting a Tableau licence at work :D
[17:41]<+camerongray> Which is funny since it costs more than I earn in a month!
[17:42]<@BC_Programming> what is Tableau
[17:42]<+camerongray> Very fancy data visualisation software
[17:42]<+camerongray> You give it a database or similar source and it lets you make pretty dashboards to display the data
[17:42]<+camerongray> Ahh, slightly lower than I earn in a month, but still, $2000 a year!
[17:43]<+camerongray> (Per person)
[17:47]<+camerongray> Bollocks!
[17:47]<+camerongray> Pro tip - When you are shaking a carton of orange juice before drinking it, put the cap on
[17:48]<@BC_Programming> heh
[17:49]<+camerongray> And I still have to sue my old letting agent, ugh
[17:50]<+camerongray> "Your initial sum for compensation (£1200) was unreasonable, we will give you £400"
[17:50]<+camerongray> Err... no...
[17:50]<@BC_Programming> lol
[17:51]<+camerongray> Make us live in a flat that is not fit for human occupation for over 2 months, give us just over a third of one month's rent back? Not happening
[17:52]<+camerongray> £1200 was actually us being nice as it's only a calculation of the value of rooms we couldn't use, would be well over £2000 if I had put in the cost of buying/running dehumidifiers and the time I have taken off work for them!
[17:52]<+camerongray> These sum it up: http://flat.camerongray.me/~camerong/public/photos/Flat%20Issues/
[17:53]<@BC_Programming> in a house we were renting, somebody bought the house from the owners, and evicted us since they wanted to live there a pain but whatever
[17:53]<+camerongray> Ahh, ouch!
[17:53]<@BC_Programming> anyway, he refused to pay back the security deposit
[17:53]<+camerongray> Ahh yeah, same here, all agents are dodgy as hell
[17:53]<@BC_Programming> his reasoning "I don't think I should have to"
[17:53]<+camerongray> New place is so much better, strange the things you appreciate like floors that are actually flat, walls that are both flat and have paint on them and showers where the water goes down a train, not into the floor
[17:54]<+camerongray> And I told you how the electrician almost killed someone?
[17:54]<@BC_Programming> best part is my mom went to a collection agency and basically screwed up his credit. then suddenly he was willing to pay
[17:54]<+camerongray> ahh, nice!
[17:55]<+camerongray> We are going to do that with these guys, don't care if it kills their business, they shouldn't be operating in the first place
[17:55]<@BC_Programming> but by then the time had elapsed and legally we were entitled to double so we went that route and ended up getting double out of him lol
[17:55]<@BC_Programming> $1800 I think it was
[17:55]<@BC_Programming> what is a letting agent? Is that like a landlord for several flats?
[17:55]<+camerongray> They charge all sorts of fees that are illegal, "don't take a deposit and instead take the last two months of rent in advance" which is basically so they don't need to put it in a legally required scheme
[17:56]<+camerongray> A company that supposedly manages a property for a landlord
[17:56]<+camerongray> The most common way of reting here
[17:56]<+camerongray> renting*
[17:56]<+camerongray> But ours completely screwed up in every way
[17:56]<@BC_Programming> ahh, property managers
[17:56]<@BC_Programming> well, with less managing
[17:56]<+camerongray> We told them the shower leaked as soon as we moved in, they ignored it, caused major damp issues in the walls meaning everythign needed ripped out
[17:56]<+camerongray> Which of course they did with 2 days notice when we were still living there
[17:57]<+camerongray> And they hired the worst workmen you can imagine
[17:57]<+camerongray> Including a plasterer who spilled plaster down our only working shower and blocked it (while the other shower was still in the kitchen) and the electrician (who was from a plumbing company) who almost killed someone
[17:58]<+camerongray> Once we get money back, I'm going to go mental online
[17:58]<+camerongray> This already exists: http://edinburghoneillpropertyreviews.wordpress.com/
[17:59]<+camerongray> But for us, I have photos of everything and logs of exactly what happened every day
[18:01]<+camerongray> Oh, they will not like me once I do that
[18:03]<@BC_Programming> why must these databases store dates as strings
[18:03]<@BC_Programming> why
[18:04]<+camerongray> I love the fact they even have a clearly fake review
[18:04]<+camerongray> "They were very communicative in letting us know when viewings were going to take place. The paperwork to follow was of the highest quality."
[18:04]<@BC_Programming> lol
[18:05]<+camerongray> Well, lets see here, we were never told about any viewings (which resulted in me having a yelling argument while standing in my dressing gown) and the paperwork was mostly in Comic Sans
[18:05]<+camerongray> And yes, it's not good when you are in the shower and hear a bunch of people let themselves in to view the flat
[18:05]<@BC_Programming> yeah that would piss me off
[18:05]<+camerongray> And not once
[18:06]<+camerongray> Every time they did it I phoned them
[18:06]<@BC_Programming> and not once were they attractive young girls! I know
[18:06]<+camerongray> Think the total was 10 times we weren't told, we were told three times!
[18:06]<+camerongray> haha
[18:06]<+camerongray> I just stormed out and went to the guy "We weren't told about this viewing" making sure the people thinking about renting the flat heard
[18:07]<+camerongray> He then fumbled and said "Well, your flatmates knew"
[18:07]<@BC_Programming> see at least then you could scare them off. "Hello there, I was just in the shower, would you like to join me" Either they get creeped out and leave, or, well- it goes ok.
[18:07]<+camerongray> Which was hilarious since I had frantically texted my flatmate saying "Did you know about this viewing" when I was getting out the shower to which he had responded "No!"
[18:07]<+camerongray> ;p;
[18:07]<+camerongray> lol*
[18:09]<+camerongray> I also like this review from "almostelectrocuted" - http://www.allagents.co.uk/review/59817/ where their boiler was left in a lethal state
[18:09]<+camerongray> I shoudl reply with the name "actuallyelectrocutedalmostdied" :P
[18:10]<+camerongray> Surely when you have almost killed at least two groups of people, you don't send the same electrician again, which they did
[18:10]<+camerongray> Most terrifying thing I've ever experienced - One of the workmen touched the socket, massive explosion, thought he'd died or had a heart attack or something
[18:11]<+camerongray> Thankfully he got away with a burned finger
[18:11]<@BC_Programming> "Oh that, that seems to happen wherever I'm working"
[18:11]<+camerongray> lol
[18:11]<+camerongray> Like, we aren't electricians
[18:11]<+camerongray> But when you take a socket off and have some wires sticking out, what would you do to them?
[18:12]<+camerongray> (a) tape them with insulating tape (b) Leave them sticking out while live
[18:12]<+camerongray> Same electician then asked to use my flatmate's PC to google how to wire the pump for the shower
[18:12]<+camerongray> (Said pump stopped working 4 days later)
[18:14]<+camerongray> I'm normally pretty calm but with them there was times I was physically shaking and wanting to scream
[18:14]<@BC_Programming> I would have been nice and given them information they needed
[18:14]<@BC_Programming> "You guys are idiots"
[18:14]<+camerongray> haha, Oh, I said that many times
[18:14]<+camerongray> Well, not idiots
[18:15]<+camerongray> But "incompitence" was used a lot
[18:15]<+camerongray> On the plus side, they didn't charge us for any damage or cleaning
[18:16]<+camerongray> Which is only because we insisted that we were there when they inspected so they couldn't make stuff up
[18:19]<@BC_Programming> I just worked around a bug in one of the programs I wrote that was causing a problem with a report filter (for running database reports) by using the capability of said program to read, compile, and execute C# script embedded in the xml file.
[18:19]<@BC_Programming> don't feel like releasing another version of the program heh
[18:19]<+camerongray> Oh, they have a Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/oneillproperty
[18:19]<+camerongray> Must...resist...review
[18:21]<+camerongray> Just saw a 4 star review on their page
[18:21]<+camerongray> From my super careful facebook stalking I found it's actually the main guy who works in their office
[18:21]<+camerongray> That's not he best bit, he has his name as "Philoneous Punk Ksc"
[18:22]<@BC_Programming> lol wtf
[18:50]<+camerongray> I've just seen photos
[18:50]<+camerongray> Dying
[18:50]<@BC_Programming> what?
[18:50]<+camerongray> https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xaf1/t1.0-9/263911_10150306298349085_6255829_n.jpg
[18:50]<+camerongray> His photos are amazing
[18:52]<+camerongray> I particularly like the comment on this one: http://flat.camerongray.me/~camerong/public/nodirlist/phil.PNG
[18:52]<+camerongray> Could comment "And you'll be hearing from mine too"
[18:57]<Veltas> Why are they called "one ill property"?
[18:57]<+camerongray> lol
[18:58]<Veltas> Oh O'Neill Property I get it
[18:58]<+camerongray> lol
[18:58]<Veltas> That's what I read from the URL
[18:58]<+camerongray> But, like, his profile
[18:58]<+camerongray> It's amazing
[18:58]<@BC_Programming> expertsexchange.com is your source for expert sex change
[18:58]<+camerongray> I knew they were idiots, but this is another level
[18:58]<Veltas> :D
[18:59]<+camerongray> All because he left a review of his own employer
[19:01]<+camerongray> Wow, he lists his job as "Mr. Manager at Homewrecker Enterprises"
[19:02]<+camerongray> Homewrecker.... http://flat.camerongray.me/~camerong/public/photos/Flat%20Issues/2014-04-21%20Shower%20Removed%20and%20Placed%20in%20Kitchen/DSC02742.JPG
[19:09]<@BC_Programming> that review is pretty hilarious in the way you would expect
[19:09]<@BC_Programming> I like the part where "He was waving his arms around and threatening to become cross"
[19:09]<@BC_Programming> the way I understood it was that he was threatening to become upset which I found funny for some reason
[19:10]<+camerongray> Wow, never saw that bit
[19:10]<+camerongray> I just can't believe that Facebook profile
[19:10]<+camerongray> Like, how do you even do that
[19:10]<+camerongray> He's not 12!
[19:21]<+camerongray> Also, http://flat.camerongray.me/~camerong/public/nodirlist/Phil%20Facebook%20Post.PNG - I love the respect he has for customers
