[01:08]<Craig_remote> Well, I am doing a full reinstall of my Ubuntu Server,
[01:08]<Craig_remote> I have too many programs that have not been installed correctly, or conf's that I don't know how to fix to get it up and running, so I am going to upgrade to 14.04 at the same time
[01:09]<Craig_remote> What do you think Tux2
[01:09]<Craig_remote> ?
[01:09] * Craig_remote is now known as Craig
[01:09]<Craig> Ta da! :P fixed my name atleast :p;

[06:34]<@BC_Programming> ugh wtf
[06:34]<@BC_Programming> I want to reduce the width of the fake window showing blog posts, apparently the element is set to 99% but I havent got a clue where
[06:35]<@BC_Programming> Its not in the stylesheets, and the PHP doesnt look to be writing it out with 99%
[06:38]<@BC_Programming> Wow I really, really, really, really, really, really, really hate web development
[06:39]<@BC_Programming> <div id=colwrap style=width:99%> with absolutely no indication where the style is coming from at all
[06:39]<@BC_Programming> and apparently mIRC tries to do smart quotes now
[06:42]<@BC_Programming> ah ha! it was hiding in a script

[11:29]<Craig> playing with HTML again BC_Programming?
[11:29]<@BC_Programming> Its hard to read text when it is that wide, I think that is why the theme had it shrunk to begin with
[11:30]<Craig> hahaha
[11:30]<Craig> So what are you up to?
[11:30]<Craig> Have you been keeping up with my *#RISKINGFULLREINSTALLOFSERVER, posts on facebook?
[11:30]<@BC_Programming> not much atm, waiting for some of my co-workers to respond on skype since Im stuck
[11:30]<Craig> Ahh
[11:31]<Craig> You guys do some web stuff too?
[11:31]<Craig> Or is that a different project?
[11:31]<@BC_Programming> No the web thing was for my blog
[11:31]<Craig> Ahh
[11:31]<Craig> What are you stuck on?
[11:32]<@BC_Programming> THe work thing is quite riveting (/s), Invoice 04382A shows up in xpossum_history in the SQL as well as XPS0605.DATA on the theos server, which means it should be possible to read an invoice from the C# library with a key of 001*I*04382A but when my Invoice reprinter calls the print program the print program claims it doesnt exist
[11:33]<@BC_Programming> which isnt surprising because I had a test program read in every single historic invoice and print the key to the file and 04382A doesnt show up anywhere, so not sure what the heck is going on
[11:34]<Craig> Sounds like the printer may not be calling the correct DB entry, or there is an issue with how its reading the name
[11:35]<Craig> #Helpinginvaugetiesandtryingtobeusefulwithoutcodingknowlege
[11:35]<@BC_Programming> lol
[11:35]<@BC_Programming> well I think the key is wrong, I just think its weird that the invoice number appears literally nowhere
[11:36]<@BC_Programming> or according to the library it isnt there, but it is clearly there in the data files
[11:36]<Craig> #Stupidquestion but did you have verbose logging set to see what the calls are to the database?
[11:37]<@BC_Programming> the data is coming from the database and I can see it using pgAdmin and stuff
[11:38]<@BC_Programming> the library calls are too complex for me to even bother tracing, those read from ISAM files on THEOS, I can LIST those and the invoice is there too, (which makes sense since the postgres table is created from them)
[11:38]<@BC_Programming> best I can guess is probably a bug in the library though I wouldnt have the first clue what the issue is
[11:38]<Craig> Ok, well thats a start.,
[11:38]<Craig> So at the basics, we know its in the DB
[11:39]<Craig> but nothing else can see it,
[11:39]<Craig> Could it be a permissions error? (I had lots of those last night)
[11:39]<@BC_Programming> well to explain
[11:42]<Craig> Hmmm sounds like its going to be a LONG one :P
[11:42]<@BC_Programming> the library constructs POSDocuments related to an invoice, which shows all the payments, the site assignments, etc associated with an invoice, that is all gathered up by connecting to the THEOS server and running activators; basically it reads data from ISAM files. Reprint, the program Im working on which is for reprinting invoices, filters invoices by date, customer, transaction
[11:42]<@BC_Programming> number, etc. by reading from Postgres. POSDocuments take a key that isnt even present in any database, store number*sale type*invoice number, and the C# library takes that apart at the * and uses that for who knows what, but it eventually reads from the data files to try to retrieve the invoice information
[11:43]<@BC_Programming> Im pretty sure its a bug somewhere in the library, which is why Ive tried to raise the issue since last Wednesday
[11:43]<Craig> Ahhhh sounds like its been a recurring issue from the DB side then, quite possibly out of your control at the moment?
[11:44]<@BC_Programming> no Ive only known of issues with Reprint, the program I am working on
[11:44]<Craig> Yes, but knowing you usually do things the right way, and they have had a lot of programmers on these, its mostlikely a compatability issue between an older programmer's skills, and your own.

[14:46]<@BC_Programming> results are in, it was a bug in an internal method, it was going through a sorted List and making sure all the entries had a store set. that worked, but the entries were keyed in the sorted list by that same store, so even though the store itself was changed to 001*I*04382A the instance was still keyed as *I*04382A I know you can all breathe easier now knowing something that had
[14:47]<@BC_Programming> absolutely no relevance to you has now been resolved

[16:43]<@BC_Programming> alright so lets say just hypothetically I was to get a smartphone
[16:43]<@BC_Programming> just a hypothetical
[16:43]<@BC_Programming> any recommendations
[16:45]<jamer> galaxy s5
[16:45]<@BC_Programming> lol that is the first thing I searched on amazon
[16:45]<@BC_Programming> I didnt even know it was realz
[16:45]<@BC_Programming> That sounds familiar.... oh it exists
[16:45]<@BC_Programming> though Id probably want it via contract, 700+ is pretty pricey
[16:49]<jamer> theres the s5 and the s5 active
[16:49]<@BC_Programming> everything on Amazon seems to be unlocked
[16:50]<jamer> meaning it can go to any carrier
[16:57]<@BC_Programming> Heres a funny story, Im trying to buy Game Party or Game Part 2 for the Wii for my Mom because she thinks she played it before, with Darts or something
[16:58]<@BC_Programming> I tried to buy it on amazon a while ago, transaction was cancelled.
[16:58]<jamer> O.o
[16:58]<@BC_Programming> I got refunded and all that
[16:58]<jamer> tried again?
[16:59]<@BC_Programming> so I tried ebay and it went through, but they cancelled also because they didnt want to ship outside the US and didnt list it properly
[16:59]<@BC_Programming> Im not sure if Im willing to try again
[17:00]<@BC_Programming> I also bought a few gamecube games in the meantime and those seem to have gone through fine, its like the Game Party game is cursed
[17:00]<jamer> XD
[17:01]<@BC_Programming> Oh I heard GTA5 is coming to PC this fall
[17:01]<@BC_Programming> PC MASTER RACE

[21:21]<+camerongray> BC_Programming: For smartphones, I'd really look at the Google Nexus ones - Stupidly cheap for what they are and dont' come with any crap like Samsung install
[21:22]<+camerongray> Alternatively if you are looking for something cheaper, the Motorolla Moto G is really good value
[21:22]<+camerongray> Then again, since you are pretty big on Microsoft stuff, a Windows phone is an option since you could also play about developing for it or whatever
