[02:57]<@BC_Programming> cool
[02:57]<@BC_Programming> the keyboard ruins it lol CURSE This excellent but noisy keyboard

[05:58]<+camerongray> I see DB has started working for British Gas: https://twitter.com/BritishGasHelp/status/463619139220021248 :P
[06:01] * Quantos (Mibbit@mib-E2C7BB07.ed.shawcable.net) has joined #glitchpc
[06:02]<+camerongray> Wow - The guy he tried arguing with is an engineer for Twitter - Well done british gas!
[06:03]<Quantos> Huh?
[06:03]<Quantos> What'd I miss Cam?
[06:03]<+camerongray> https://twitter.com/BritishGasHelp/status/463619139220021248 - Sounds like a certain CH op started doing support for british gas
[06:04]<Quantos> LOL
[06:04]<Quantos> PMSL
[06:04]<+camerongray> I'm sure you can guess who I am referring to :P
[06:04]<+camerongray> "I don't understand this, I know, I'll use some big words"
[06:05]<Quantos> It sounds almost like something that Coop would come up with
[06:05]<+camerongray> Exactly who I was referring to :P
[06:05]<Quantos> In a hurry to give an answer, not stopping to think about what's coming out your gob
[06:05]<+camerongray> haha yeah
[06:05]<+camerongray> Oh yeah, where did the name "coop" come from :P
[06:06]<Quantos> Me, when I first saw his nick it reminded me of db cooper
[06:06]<+camerongray> ahh!
[06:06]<Quantos> Patio likes to claim the recognition for it though
[06:07]<+camerongray> hehe
[06:07]<+camerongray> I wonder what will come of this
[06:07]<Quantos> Of which? Sorry man, still on my first coffee.
[06:07]<+camerongray> I've lost count of the levels of wrong that guy is tweeting
[06:07]<+camerongray> The guy on Twitter
[06:07]<Quantos> Oh
[06:07]<Quantos> LOL
[06:08]<Quantos> They should delete his account for being a maroon
[06:08]<+camerongray> hha
[06:08]<Quantos> I wish I could do that
[06:08]<Quantos> Wouldn't that rock, being an op for the internet?
[06:08]<+camerongray> haha
[06:08]<Quantos> You could ban all idiots, pedophiles, pirates....
[06:08]<+camerongray> Assuming it was properly moderated unlike CH :P
[06:09]<+camerongray> "You said something that I don't like" *ban*
[06:09]<Quantos> I think there would be only a handful of people once I was done
[06:09]<+camerongray> "I saw you" *ban*
[06:09]<Quantos> Hehehehe
[06:10]<Quantos> It gets pretty ridiculous sometimes. Don't get me wrong, I'm not pointing fingers at others, but at me for some of my own blunders
[06:10]<+camerongray> There are a lot of ops worse than you :P
[06:10]<+camerongray> You are one of the best/the best
[06:11]<Quantos> Wow, thanks Cam, you don't give out praise very often.
[06:11]<+camerongray> hehe
[06:11]<Quantos> That means something to me
[06:11]<+camerongray> I do sometimes :P
[06:11]<Quantos> What I mean is you don't blow smoke up peoples arses
[06:12]<+camerongray> ahh yeah
[06:12]<Quantos> Do you think that could be one of Coop's brothers?
[06:12]<+camerongray> haha!
[06:12]<+camerongray> Hmm, he did punctuate too well for that
[06:13]<+camerongray> Oh yeah, and Guest_Kiwi - Is that guitarman again?
[06:13]<Quantos> I've long ago learned that in the corporate world people are promoted to the position of the worst competence
[06:14]<+camerongray> Yeah
[06:14]<Quantos> You know, I'm not sure, I'm going to go check that, thanks for the heads up
[06:14]<+camerongray> That guy has either tried to guess the answer himself or has spoken to their incompetent IT department and posted what they said
[06:14] * PCdoc (PCdoc@C8D7B677.B19CBEC.EE292452.IP) Quit (Ping timeout)
[06:14]<+camerongray> He's being quiet but CAF has said stuff to him a few times, has a similar hostmask and punctuates like DB (Which GM used to do)
[06:15] * Erika (nds@mib-F91CD104.hsd1.fl.comcast.net) Quit (Ping timeout)
[06:15]<+camerongray> I mean, it's fine him being there as long as he doesn't explode like last time (Which was kinda amusing in a way)
[06:16]<Quantos> LOL, I'm glad that I'm not the only one that thought that
[06:16]<Quantos> I really can't tell if that's him or not, the hostmask is close, but not quite the same
[06:16]<+camerongray> Yeah
[06:17]<+camerongray> We'll probably find out
[06:17]<+camerongray> I always found it strange how close GM punctuated to DB
[06:17]<Quantos> If it's him we'll hear more about xp black being an official release
[06:17]<+camerongray> hehe
[06:17]<Quantos> I know eh
[06:19] * PCdoc (PCdoc@C8D7B677.B19CBEC.EE292452.IP) has joined #glitchpc
[06:20]<Quantos> I guess that I could always lurk guest kiwi with my irccloud account
[06:20]<+camerongray> haha
[06:20]<Quantos> That just doesn't sound fun though
[06:21]<+camerongray> I can sort of imagine him
[06:21]<+camerongray> Sitting there, trying not to give himself away
[06:21]<+camerongray> Then getting really angry when someone asks about drivers or XP
[06:21]<Quantos> Oh that's not possible, he will ALWAYS give himself away, too arrogant
[06:21]<+camerongray> Yeah
[06:22]<+camerongray> Come to think of it - I wonder what he has said so far
[06:22]<Quantos> I expect a copy of anything amusing ;)
[06:22]<+camerongray> Yep
[06:23]<+camerongray> Not seen him say much so will be interesting to see
[06:23]<Quantos> It would sure be a firs5
[06:23]<Quantos> first even
[06:24]<+camerongray> Yep It's him
[06:24]<+camerongray> Same CPU
[06:24]<+camerongray> And ended a sentence with "is all"
[06:24]<+camerongray> "I run a 15 yo machine"
[06:24]<Quantos> I loved that movie Wally, the spork scene
[06:25]<+camerongray> Literally minuites after saying he uses a CPU that was launched in 2009
[06:25]<+camerongray> It's like it pains him to admit to use something new
[06:25]<Quantos> Actually it doesn't really matter to me if it's gman, as long as he behaves himself and stays within the guidelines
[06:25]<+camerongray> Yeha, same
[06:26]<Quantos> Yeah, I've noticed that too man
[06:26]<+camerongray> Reading logs is pretty amsung though
[06:27]<+camerongray> Ahh yeah, "virus is called MSE"
[06:28]<Quantos> I'm not fond of MSE either, but there's no way you should be able to confuse what it is that much
[06:28]<+camerongray> yeah :P
[06:28]<Quantos> Oh hey, I have a question for you
[06:28]<+camerongray> Yeah?
[06:29]<Quantos> My audio is all messed up now, I disabled the onboard soundcard to use the HDMI out. Now I get nothing, even after re-enabling the onboard device. This is my linux box.
[06:29]<+camerongray> Ahh, hmm
[06:30]<+camerongray> Can't think of that on Linux
[06:30]<Quantos> I've tried setting the Alsa mixer, to no avail
[06:30]<+camerongray> Yeah
[06:30]<+camerongray> My machine is also a pain like that - Can't make it remember to use the onboard
[06:30]<Quantos> Unplugged and replugged the hdmi cable incase the monitor was having a fit
[06:30]<+camerongray> So every time I boot it I have to set the output device
[06:31]<Quantos> I assume the first thing you did was replace the battery
[06:31]<+camerongray> There isn't even an HDMI monitor connected (One DVI and one DVI over DisplayPort)
[06:31]<+camerongray> lol
[06:31]<Quantos> Wow, that sounds almost as patched together as my machine ;)
[06:31]<+camerongray> haha
[06:31]<+camerongray> The rest of the machine is fine - Just that stupid AMD video card
[06:33]<Quantos> Wow, and I thought that AMD made a great product for the gpu's
[06:33]<+camerongray> The cards themselves are fine - The drivers (especially on Linux) suck
[06:34]<+camerongray> This is a Radeon 7950
[06:34]<+camerongray> Was going to go for an NVIDIA but this worked out cheaper for the power it had and I really just needed a pretty beefy card to run my monitors as my older 560ti struggled
[06:35]<Quantos> Ah
[06:35]<Quantos> Yeah, AMD has no driver support for Linux do they?
[06:35]<+camerongray> They do them, but the stable releases are very rare
[06:35]<+camerongray> I have to run Beta and update it every time the kernel updates or it breaks
[06:36]<Quantos> What?
[06:36]<+camerongray> Yeah...
[06:36]<+camerongray> And it isn't in the repos so I need to manually update from their website
[06:36]<Quantos> They need to get it together, otherwise they will slide farther downhill
[06:36]<+camerongray> Yeah, I'm worried for AMD
[06:36]<+camerongray> All they have in the CPU range at the moment is the lower end FXs and the APUs
[06:37]<Quantos> If intel winds up with a monopoly I'm worried about what that will do to the cpu prices
[06:37]<+camerongray> And Intel are taking on APUs with their Iris Pro graphics
[06:37]<+camerongray> Yeah, prices and innovation
[06:37]<Quantos> Exactly, monopolies make for lazy corporations
[06:37]<+camerongray> I'd imaigne Intel could make a lot better chips than they currently are but are holding back because AMD aren't competing
[06:38]<Quantos> You could very well have hit the bulls eye there
[06:39]<+camerongray> bbl
[06:39]<Quantos> Yeap

[07:09]<PCdoc> I wonder if we can restore original style through about:config
[07:09]<Quantos> Not that I've been able to find

[08:06]<PCdoc> one of my clients called me early in the morning saying all of the contacts in his gmail received an email with attachment containing some phishing file. He change the pass immidiately, but I wonder if the email was compromised or it was some script that got installed in his device that send those emails.
[08:06]<PCdoc> Mean while I asked him to talk to a lawyer who is aware of cyber laws
[08:08]<+camerongray> This happens all the time
[08:08]<+camerongray> All they can do is change the passwords and scan all devices they log into email over
[08:09]<Quantos> Cam, I got my audio back, apparently it got disabled in the sound settings, just needed to re-enable it
[08:09]<+camerongray> Ahh cool!
[08:09]<+camerongray> I'll need to fix mine still P
[08:09]<+camerongray> :P*
[08:09]<+camerongray> My laptop also does this strange thing where the sound starts cracking occasionally and you have to mute/unmute it to fix it
[08:09]<Quantos> I wish I would've thought of checking there earlier, would have saved boat loads of time
[08:09]<+camerongray> The joys of Linux :P
[08:10]<Quantos> It's fun though, isn't it, go ahead admit it
[08:10]<+camerongray> hehe, at times but other times I just want to use my machine
[08:10]<Quantos> Yeah, I can relate
[08:10]<+camerongray> Tempted to try hackintoshing my laptop and see if my video card works well under MacOS
[08:11]<+camerongray> I mean, MacOS is UNIX, yet it actually works properly :P
[08:11]<Quantos> I haven't been able to play my Call of Duty game in almost two weeks
[08:11]<Quantos> Well, that is against the EULS
[08:11]<Quantos> EULA
[08:11]<+camerongray> It's a tricky mess legally
[08:12]<+camerongray> I don't have an issue with it myself as I bought the copies of MacOS, have a £200 copy of Final Cut Pro X and own Apple hardware
[08:12]<Quantos> I'd just find a good cheap mac to buy and try it there
[08:12]<+camerongray> I just prefer using my ThinkPad to my MacBook :P
[08:12]<+camerongray> I have a mac, just prefer the ThinkPad hardware
[08:12]<Quantos> Ah
[08:12]<+camerongray> 2012 MacBook Pro 13"
[08:12]<Quantos> Yeah, I can see that
[08:13]<+camerongray> My desktop was built largely to dual boot MacOS for Final Cut
[08:13]<+camerongray> Worked really well
[08:17]<+camerongray> Hmm, trying to think now
[08:17]<+camerongray> I think I prefer KDE to MacOS, but OSX just seems so much more stable :P
[08:18]<Quantos> I actually have never had an issue with my mac either, osx is very stable
[08:19]<Quantos> I have an old G3
[08:19]<Quantos> The turquoise one
[08:19]<+camerongray> Ahh nice
[08:21]<+camerongray> I do wonder what would happen if Apple tidied up their EULA and sold Mac OS for PCs at some crazy high price
[08:21]<Quantos> It's not a bad little machine, it sits in my closet most of the time, I bring it out if someone in the chat needs mac help
[08:22]<Quantos> Nah, they'd have to compete with windows, on price point anyway
[08:22]<Quantos> I think they'd sell like hot cakes
[08:25]<+camerongray> Yeah
[08:26]<+camerongray> Hard to tell whether Apple would make or lose money doing it though
[08:26]<+camerongray> Of course they never will do it though
[08:26]<Quantos> No, they'd be cutting their own throats
[08:27]<+camerongray> Yeah
[08:28]<+camerongray> Come to think of it - I should try Arch again :P
[08:29]<Quantos> Arch Linux?
[08:29]<+camerongray> Yeah
[08:29]<+camerongray> It's my favorite distro by a mile, just kept puking over my video card
[08:29]<+camerongray> I don't think I checked the Beta drivers though
[08:29]<Quantos> I've never even played with it. I should set up a couple more HDD's and play with some flavors that I'm unfamiliar with
[08:30]<+camerongray> Have you seen Arch?
[08:30]<+camerongray> You basically get nothing out of the box and install everything you want on top of it
[08:30]<Quantos> No, I haven't, I've only heard a bit here and there about it. I've never really read up on it,
[08:30]<+camerongray> Ahh
[08:30]<Quantos> Oh nice
[08:30]<Quantos> That means no unity
[08:30]<+camerongray> So basically it sucks to install but once you get it working you know exactly what is installed and how it is set up
[08:31]<Quantos> Does it use Gnome?
[08:31]<+camerongray> If you install Gnome :P
[08:31]<PCdoc> Quantos: some one is asking for u in the ch ..
[08:31]<Quantos> So it doesn't even come with a GUI?
[08:31]<+camerongray> When I say it comes with nothing, I literally mean that after install it boots to command line :P
[08:31]<Quantos> Wohooo
[08:31]<+camerongray> There isn't even an Installer
[08:32]<+camerongray> You mount partitions and use the package manager to install the OS, then install GRUB :P
[08:32]<PCdoc> Quantos: must be feeling relaxed now :P
[08:32]<PCdoc> j/k
[08:32]<+camerongray> Takes a couple of days to get properly working :P
[08:32]<Quantos> Yeah, I'll bet, but it would sure keep me busy for a while at least
[08:33]<+camerongray> Yeah
[08:33]<+camerongray> Of course I decide to do this after using my spare SSD in another machine :P
[08:33]<+camerongray> So now to decide - Wipe the Windows install I was using off of that or use this as a chance to get a decent SSD :P
[08:34]<Quantos> That's a damn good plan, a new SSD
[08:34]<+camerongray> Think I'll test it off an HDD to see if my video card works, then buy an SSD
[08:34]<+camerongray> Mine are Sandforce OCZs so could do with being replaced :P
[08:36]<Quantos> Yeah, those are a wee bit dated eh?
[08:38]<+camerongray> Yeah
[08:38]<+camerongray> Sandforce also had some issues
[08:38]<+camerongray> Mine still work okay but I'd rather upgrade them
[08:39]<Quantos> Yeah, no sense in waiting for one to fail
[08:39]<+camerongray> Sort of lets the overall quality of my machine down :P
[08:40]<Quantos> I can't imagine how fast my machine would be with one, and Linux. It's pretty quick right now for an old core2Duo 3.0 Ghz
