[18:20]<jamer> ihate google ....
[18:21]<+camerongray> ?
[18:23]<jamer> my lab teacher decided to basically have us do this whole course on google products ....
[18:24]<jamer> like who the hell would actually use google calendar
[18:24]<+camerongray> Me
[18:25]<@BC_Programming> Actually that seems like a good idea, since nobody can use the "I don't have <program> excuse
[18:26]<+camerongray> Yeah
[18:26]<+camerongray> I use Google Docs/Drive for pretty much all my essays.etc
[18:26]<+camerongray> Only exception is LaTeX stuff
[18:48]<U1timat3Tr0113r> Google is Best
[18:48]<U1timat3Tr0113r> i do actualy use a Google Calender
[18:55]<jamer> i use my phones calender ... cause i can set alarms telling me befor hand and not worry about having internet
[18:55]<+camerongray> My phone syncs with Google Calendar :P
[18:56]<U1timat3Tr0113r> MS keeps attacking Google with this "Scroogled" Campaign as it is a Big Lie,
[18:56]<U1timat3Tr0113r> lie*
[18:56]<+camerongray> Saw that, completely ridiculous :P - Just makes MS look bad
[18:57]<U1timat3Tr0113r> Hey do you know when you buy a App on Google Play it sends your info to the devs? Liar
[18:57]<+camerongray> Yeah, it sends info, but it's not personal or anything
[18:57]<U1timat3Tr0113r> yea that they bought it but not your address
[18:58]<+camerongray> Yeah
[18:58]<U1timat3Tr0113r> also at a end of a video it said Try Bing
[18:58]<U1timat3Tr0113r> i laughed
[18:58]<+camerongray> One funny thing I did find though was using my phone's voice recognition to "Set a reminder for six" - Doesn't understand my accent and sets a reminder for "Sex"
[18:58]<U1timat3Tr0113r> it had nothing to do with it
[18:58]<U1timat3Tr0113r> LOL
[19:00]<U1timat3Tr0113r> i saw a video that was wierd of 2 trucks one was labeled Outlook something and one was Gmail or Google Mail and it was wierd how the Gmail Guy was doing scanning the letter and putting ads in the mail
[19:00]<U1timat3Tr0113r> but the wierd part is?
[19:00]<U1timat3Tr0113r> but the wierd part is
[19:01]<U1timat3Tr0113r> weres the NSA? in the Trucks?
[19:01]<U1timat3Tr0113r> you know what im talking about right?
[19:02]<U1timat3Tr0113r> i saw a comment actualy said that something like that
[19:02]<@BC_Programming> No. As of yet I've seen zero evidence to support any of the claims being made by British newspapers based on nonindependently verified sources that the NSA is doing the things being claimed.
[19:02]<U1timat3Tr0113r> IKR
[19:02]<+camerongray> Nah, it's just google looking at stuff to give you ads that are relevant to your interestss
[19:02]<U1timat3Tr0113r> yea whats matter with that
[19:02]<U1timat3Tr0113r> s
[19:02]<+camerongray> I'd rather that than completely unrelated ads
[19:02]<U1timat3Tr0113r> sometimes ads are helpful
[19:03]<U1timat3Tr0113r> like it can help you find new stuff
[19:03]<U1timat3Tr0113r> what about Chromebook? MS attacked that
[19:04]<U1timat3Tr0113r> saying it does stuff like track your internet to sell ads
[19:04]<U1timat3Tr0113r> thats half bad/good
[19:04]<+camerongray> Yeah, I saw the Scroogled stuff - Really made MS look bad in my mind
[19:04]<@BC_Programming> All their claims are technically correct, to be fair. The presentation however made implications that weren't
[19:05]<U1timat3Tr0113r> sadly Google is disscontining Google Frame for Windows XP
[19:05]<+camerongray> Like the way they have stuff saying "A Chromebook isn't a laptop" then post negative reviews about it - I mean, sure it isn't a full blown laptop, but nothing says it is
[19:05]<U1timat3Tr0113r> and Windows XP life cycle is ending
[19:05]<+camerongray> YAY!
[19:05]<U1timat3Tr0113r> no
[19:05]<U1timat3Tr0113r> thats not good
[19:05]<+camerongray> Yes it is, XP is ancient now, it needs to die
[19:05]<U1timat3Tr0113r> cuz Im stuck with Windows XP
[19:05]<U1timat3Tr0113r> oh well its like something gonna happen
[19:06]<+camerongray> Why?
[19:06]<U1timat3Tr0113r> people can still use Windows XP
[19:06]<+camerongray> Yeah, you can still use XP, just won't get updates so it's not really safe to use it
[19:06]<@BC_Programming> Of course they can, people can still use Windows 98 today if they want to.
[19:06]<U1timat3Tr0113r> so?
[19:06]<U1timat3Tr0113r> yea just put software to protect it
[19:06]<+camerongray> There is no real reason to still use XP
[19:06]<U1timat3Tr0113r> wait how could you use Win98? its internet is only Land-Line
[19:07]<@BC_Programming> what?
[19:07]<+camerongray> You can use Ethernet on 98...
[19:07]<U1timat3Tr0113r> i wondering if i can find the old ie browser
[19:07]<U1timat3Tr0113r> like the first version
[19:07]<+camerongray> Why would you want to?
[19:07]<U1timat3Tr0113r> idk i just like old software
[19:07]<@BC_Programming> my Windows 98 laptop can connect to my Wifi...
[19:07]<U1timat3Tr0113r> how?
[19:07]<@BC_Programming> using a Wifi Adapter?
[19:08]<U1timat3Tr0113r> there wasn't no such thing as Wifi when 98 was made so idk how
[19:08]<U1timat3Tr0113r> 1998
[19:08]<@BC_Programming> I installed a Wifi PC-Card and installed the driver.
[19:08]<U1timat3Tr0113r> oh
[19:08]<+camerongray> I have a couple of old laptops - One with 2000 and one with 98 that I use to transfer stuff to/from my vintage machines, both of them connect over Ethernet
[19:09]<U1timat3Tr0113r> well Windows XP is still good it has features that Windows Vista and Younger doesnt
[19:09]<@BC_Programming> such as?
[19:09]<+camerongray> lol
[19:09]<U1timat3Tr0113r> like Animated Desktop
[19:09]<+camerongray> Why would you want that?
[19:09]<@BC_Programming> that's not even a thing
[19:09]<U1timat3Tr0113r> idk
[19:09]<U1timat3Tr0113r> yes it is
[19:09]<@BC_Programming> unless you mean ACTIVE desktop
[19:10]<U1timat3Tr0113r> what?
[19:10]<+camerongray> And if you did (for some mad reason) you can use extra software
[19:10]<U1timat3Tr0113r> like your mouse interactive with the screen
[19:10]<U1timat3Tr0113r> What about the Old Sounds
[19:10]<+camerongray> XP is old, insecure, doesn't support all new software, doesn't support modern hardware well
[19:10]<+camerongray> I couldn't care less what sound my computer makes
[19:11]<U1timat3Tr0113r> this PC has 150MB of RAM
[19:11]<U1timat3Tr0113r> 2 cores mabe
[19:11]<@BC_Programming> I don't even know what you are talking about now. "The mouse interactive with the screen" OK, as opposed to... what? what else does a mouse pointer do? there isn't anything called "animated desktop" the closest is "Active Desktop" which let's you use web tech on the desktop, which was a MASSIVE security flaw since it basically allowed anybody to take remote control of the PC
[19:11]<+camerongray> Then that is a really old PC
[19:12]<U1timat3Tr0113r> lets drop the topic
[19:12]<U1timat3Tr0113r> and go back to Google
[19:12]<+camerongray> I don't see any reason to use soemthing that old nowadays, could find a better one at the dump for free
[19:12]<@BC_Programming> my Windows 98 Laptop has more RAM, heh
[19:12]<@BC_Programming> well not really, but close, 144MB
[19:12]<+camerongray> Think mine have 128mb
[19:12]<U1timat3Tr0113r> im not getting a Windows 8 because they attacked Google
[19:12]<U1timat3Tr0113r> and this Bing Crap
[19:12]<U1timat3Tr0113r> not doing it
[19:12]<+camerongray> *sigh*
[19:13]<+camerongray> Then what do you use?
[19:13]<+camerongray> Still use MS software?
[19:13]<U1timat3Tr0113r> ill stick with Windows 7
[19:13]<@BC_Programming> As said all the claims they make are <technically> correct
[19:13]<U1timat3Tr0113r> or Google OS
[19:13]<U1timat3Tr0113r> or Apple
[19:13]<U1timat3Tr0113r> or Linux
[19:13]<+camerongray> Then do that
[19:13]<+camerongray> Rather than staying on a stupidly old OS
[19:13]<U1timat3Tr0113r> i have no choice
[19:13]<U1timat3Tr0113r> my Windows 7 Powerful PC
[19:14]<U1timat3Tr0113r> power button broke
[19:14]<+camerongray> Then fix it...
[19:14]<+camerongray> Think pretty much all of my family have now scrapped their XP machines
[19:14]<+camerongray> If my power button broke my reacion would be "Oh, I guess I should fix that" - Not "Oh, I'll throw my £1500 PC in the corner and dig out my old one"
[19:14]<U1timat3Tr0113r> it was a Windows 7 64-Bit, 8GB of Ram, 1TB of Hardrive Space, idk whats the Processor is..., 3GB? of Nvidia Card Power?
[19:15]<+camerongray> Then why not fix it?
[19:15]<U1timat3Tr0113r> cuz im only 13
[19:15]<+camerongray> Then get someone else to fix it!
[19:15]<U1timat3Tr0113r> it costs
[19:15]<U1timat3Tr0113r> besides i broke my firewall so i need that fixed anyway
[19:15]<+camerongray> Then learn to fix it yourself ior save up
[19:15]<+camerongray> *sigh*
[19:16]<@BC_Programming> Google is not somehow clean, they are one of the biggest companies and effectively own the entire internet in a manner of speaking. For any company of that size I doubt their slate can be clean. Google is effectively even "worse" than Microsoft was in the 90's, the difference is most people still look at Google as a "good guy" for whatever reason
[19:16]<U1timat3Tr0113r> ik how fix it
[19:16]<+camerongray> Then save up and pay someone to fix it!
[19:16]<U1timat3Tr0113r> no cuz ill wait till it gets fixe
[19:16]<U1timat3Tr0113r> fixed
[19:16]<@BC_Programming> by magic
[19:16]<U1timat3Tr0113r> no my dad got to get it fixed
[19:16]<+camerongray> lol
[19:17]<U1timat3Tr0113r> after it turns back on unless the sparked killed the MB or something
[19:17]<U1timat3Tr0113r> i have to backup my Minecraft servers..use Backup Discs....Restore PC and have to setup the server again
[19:17]<U1timat3Tr0113r> Simple
[19:18]<@BC_Programming> How would that fix a broken power button
[19:18]<U1timat3Tr0113r> it doesnt...but i need to fix the other problem like i said
[19:18]<U1timat3Tr0113r> the firewall is broken
[19:19]<U1timat3Tr0113r> i can bypass it
[19:19]<U1timat3Tr0113r> it said
[19:19]<U1timat3Tr0113r> but idk how
[19:19]<U1timat3Tr0113r> the power button
[19:19]<U1timat3Tr0113r> im talking about
[19:19]<@BC_Programming> if the firewall is blocking outbound connections it sounds like it's working exactly as designed
[19:20]<U1timat3Tr0113r> no the firewall won't let my server through
[19:20]<U1timat3Tr0113r> Java
[19:20]<U1timat3Tr0113r> some thing i used destroied it
[19:20]<+camerongray> *facedesk*
[19:20]<U1timat3Tr0113r> WILL YOU STOP IT?
[19:20]<U1timat3Tr0113r> ...
[19:20]<U1timat3Tr0113r> wow
[19:21]<U1timat3Tr0113r> that was stupid
[19:21]<+camerongray> What was? Your reaction? Yes, the bot? no
[19:21]<@BC_Programming> quite
[19:21]<U1timat3Tr0113r> the bot
[19:21]<U1timat3Tr0113r> anyway
[19:21]<U1timat3Tr0113r> i get the PC fixed or it dosent gets fixed
[19:21]<U1timat3Tr0113r> thats all
[19:22]<@BC_Programming> In other words, basic logic.
[19:22]<U1timat3Tr0113r> i stick with this PC for 10 years or i don't
[19:22]<+camerongray> haha
[19:22]<U1timat3Tr0113r> i toss this PC after 11 years or i don't
[19:22]<+camerongray> Oh yeah, BC_Programming - Did I tell you how tough HP's business machines turned out to be?
[19:22]<U1timat3Tr0113r> throu the window
[19:23]<+camerongray> And Dell monitors for that matter
[19:23]<@BC_Programming> camerongray: maybe
[19:23]<@BC_Programming> I seem to remember about somebody running a laptop over or something, but might be thinking of something else
[19:23]<U1timat3Tr0113r> i still have the Old Gateway Monitor
[19:23]<U1timat3Tr0113r> and it works fine
[19:23]<U1timat3Tr0113r> like 10 years old
[19:23]<U1timat3Tr0113r> Gateway is Best
[19:24]<+camerongray> BC_Programming: Oh no, this was much better!
[19:24]<U1timat3Tr0113r> Dell is the Worst
[19:24]<+camerongray> In your opinion...
[19:24]<U1timat3Tr0113r> Dell is a Throw away PC like Laptops
[19:24]<@BC_Programming> he certainly is fitting his nick
[19:24]<+camerongray> Yep :P
[19:24]<U1timat3Tr0113r> you can't modify munch
[19:24]<@BC_Programming> dentists can modify munch
[19:24]<U1timat3Tr0113r> lol
[19:24]<U1timat3Tr0113r> its true
[19:25]<U1timat3Tr0113r> you can't modify laptops
[19:25]<U1timat3Tr0113r> nor you can't modify a Dell
[19:25]<+camerongray> You can to an extent
[19:25]<+camerongray> BC_Programming: Friend at uni managed to catch a cable on his desk chair while pulling his chair in - All I hear from behind is "NO NO NO NO NO" - I turn round to see a machine (and monitor) disappear from sight followed by a massive *crash*
[19:25]<+camerongray> Run round to see the base unit and monitor lying on the floor (completely pulled off the desk)
[19:25]<@BC_Programming> haha
[19:26]<+camerongray> We pick it all back up (bezel off the front of the monitor but clicked back in) - Pressed a key on the keyboard - Works absolutely fine!
[19:26]<@BC_Programming> I would have been concerned for the HDD
[19:26]<+camerongray> Yeah
[19:26]<@BC_Programming> unless it was an SSD
[19:26]<+camerongray> Nope = HDD
[19:26]<+camerongray> Think it was probbaly sleeping at the time
[19:26]<@BC_Programming> ahh
[19:26]<U1timat3Tr0113r> whats the different?
[19:26]<@BC_Programming> that helps
[19:26]<jamer> we had a imac do thesame thing at my oldschool
[19:26]<+camerongray> Never thought you could push a desktop and monitor onto a hard floor (Thin office-style carpet) and have it survive
[19:27]<+camerongray> Luckily the monitor landed face down otherwise the machine would have gone through it
[19:27]<jamer> linoleum flooring ... the imac now has a dent in it
[19:27]<+camerongray> Yeah
[19:27]<@BC_Programming> I broke the original hard drive in my laptop
[19:27]<@BC_Programming> from uh... percussive maintenance
[19:27]<+camerongray> Uni's fault for chaining the monitors to the base unit - One falls, both fall :P
[19:28]<@BC_Programming> fill the base units with weights
[19:28]<U1timat3Tr0113r> im running a Webserver on here
[19:28]<U1timat3Tr0113r> using Abyss
[19:28]<U1timat3Tr0113r> Webserver Software
[19:28]<+camerongray> lol - Need to chain them down more like!
[19:28]<+camerongray> Then later that day a different friend almost pulled another machine off
[19:29]<@BC_Programming> I just realized I've had pizza every day for the last week, except saturday
[19:29]<+camerongray> haha!
[19:29]<@BC_Programming> it is delish
[19:29]<+camerongray> This was a failry old HP though (Core 2 Duo) - Doubt their newer stuff would survive
[19:30]<+camerongray> Lost all faith in HP recently (Except some of their top end business stuff) - I'd only ever trust Dell or Lenovo nowadays
[19:32]<+camerongray> Suppose ASUS are okay too
[19:33]<jamer> the laptops break easily
[19:33]<jamer> ive fixed my share of asus laptops
[19:33]<+camerongray> Hmm, not as bad as other brands though :P
[19:33]<+camerongray> Most consumer laptops nowadays are pretty bad
[19:34]<@BC_Programming> http://i.imgur.com/uMFsF8N.jpg
[19:34]<+camerongray> lol!
[19:43]<jamer> stupid amazon .... ships my package from arizona to ohio ... 2000 miles ....
