[09:09]<+camerongray> Hey jacky, long time no "see"
[09:09]<@BC_Programming> It's too late
[09:10]<+camerongray> lol
[09:10]<+camerongray> Hey BC_Programming
[09:10]<@BC_Programming> abandon ship!
[09:10]<+camerongray> lol, back at uni working again :P
[09:10]<+camerongray> IRC is the only thing keeping me sane
[09:11]<@BC_Programming> well I hope you are in other channels then
[09:11]<@BC_Programming> I'm considering stealth moving out
[09:11]<+camerongray> lol, how does that work?
[09:11]<@BC_Programming> move out but tell nobody
[09:11]<+camerongray> But... wouldn't they notice? :P
[09:12]<@BC_Programming> Just airing out the mattress... oh a truck... down the road...
[09:12]<@BC_Programming> "bringing my desk because it needs to breathe too"
[09:12]<+camerongray> lol!
[09:12]<@BC_Programming> Come back "where is the mattress and desk"
[09:12]<@BC_Programming> "oh, we decided to see other people"
[09:12]<+camerongray> Sure you could just explain that "you are moving out" - Not that "you would like to"
[09:13]<@BC_Programming> quite. Say what is happening
[09:13]<@BC_Programming> but then there will be the guilt trip
[09:13]<+camerongray> lol
[09:13]<+camerongray> Just be like "meh" :P
[09:13]<+camerongray> "I'll come and viist all the time" :P
[09:14]<@BC_Programming> it's just... I have this tiny little room and it's costing me 1000 dollars a month, that's just plain retarded
[09:14]<@BC_Programming> I can get a 1 bedroom just down the street for 600!
[09:14]<+camerongray> Err... yes... do that :P
[09:14]<+camerongray> And you're just down the street
[09:14]<@BC_Programming> at least I won't have to do free tech support
[09:15]<@BC_Programming> yesterday they connected a DVD player
[09:15]<+camerongray> Yeah
[09:15]<+camerongray> haha
[09:15]<@BC_Programming> apparently their approach was to just plug things in where they fit
[09:15]<@BC_Programming> "I don't know why we have no video"
[09:15]<+camerongray> haha, I;ve seen that before
[09:15]<@BC_Programming> "maybe because the component cable is coming from the TV and plugging into itself"
[09:16]<@BC_Programming> "How was I supposed to see that"
[09:16]<@BC_Programming> "Most people use their eyes"
[09:16]<+camerongray> Someone was painting the room that the youth club (Who I do IT stuff for) keeps the computers in, went back to nothing working, they had the monitors plugged into eachother, the modem was connected to the switch, router was only plugged into a PC and nothing more.etc
[09:16]<@BC_Programming> haha
[09:16]<@BC_Programming> "we don't know why nothing works, all the plugs fit"
[09:17]<+camerongray> lol!
[09:17]<+camerongray> I will admit I did that the other day at uni
[09:17]<+camerongray> managed to plug my laptop into the workstation's VGA port instead of the monitor :P
[09:17]<@BC_Programming> well as long as nothing exploded
[09:17]<+camerongray> haha yeah
[09:18]<+camerongray> Don't need to do that now since my latpop is now higher resolution than the monitors on the lab machines
[09:21]<+camerongray> They really need to get dual monitors in here though - Worked out it would cost like £10,000 which is nothing to the uni who just replaced all the perfectly good Core 2 Duo machines with i5 3570 machines :P
[09:21]<+camerongray> Half the lab was already i5 2400 :P
[09:21]<@BC_Programming> Did I mention I get to integrate the libraries of our two largest products?
[09:21]<@BC_Programming> I was only really working on and adding programs to one
[09:21]<+camerongray> And all the machines have dual output - Either through displayport + VGA or a DMS59 connetor
[09:22]<+camerongray> no?
[09:22]<@BC_Programming> apparently there is a completely separate one on a separate SVN...
[09:22]<@BC_Programming> and it looks like both libs were the same and they were separated for some dumb reason
[09:22]<+camerongray> Ahh
[09:22]<@BC_Programming> so now one of them uses PostGres, and the other uses THEOS, and neither are using interfaces, or object stuff
[09:23]<+camerongray> Ouch
[09:23]<@BC_Programming> it's just... so simple! make and define some interfaces, then you can switch between them...
[09:23]<+camerongray> lolI use Postgres at work
[09:23]<@BC_Programming> yeah new windows stuff we are doing uses postgres
[09:23]<@BC_Programming> absolutely nothing writes to it yet
[09:24]<@BC_Programming> except that other program
[09:25]<@BC_Programming> So much duplication... so yeah next week'll be fun
[09:25]<@BC_Programming> or maybe the week after
[09:25]<@BC_Programming> or after that
[09:25]<@BC_Programming> "we need this done right away" seems to mean "we might do it in a few months"
[09:25]<+camerongray> lol
[09:25]<+camerongray> We're getting Git at work, finally!
[09:26]<@BC_Programming> what were you using before
[09:26]<+camerongray> Err... nothing :P
[09:26]<@BC_Programming> oh, haha
[09:26]<@BC_Programming> will you have to teach everybody?
[09:26]<+camerongray> some people can do SVN so that shouldn't be too bad to change over
[09:27]<@BC_Programming> I only know how to pull, commit, and push with git
[09:27]<+camerongray> Not using any sort of nice interface despite my begging to get Atlassin's "Stash" product
[09:27]<@BC_Programming> TortoiseSVN!
[09:27]<+camerongray> So we'll just be runnning a basic Git server and something like TortoiseGit
[09:27]<+camerongray> lol :P
[09:27]<@BC_Programming> oh
[09:27]<@BC_Programming> git I mean
[09:28]<@BC_Programming> when I started using SVN I spent like 10 minutes looking for it's equivalent to push, ha
[09:28]<@BC_Programming> apparently commit is push
[09:29]<+camerongray> lol yeha
[09:30]<+camerongray> That's the main difference between SVN and Git - Git gives you a local repo, SVN is all remote
[09:59]<@BC_Programming> The man who credits himself does credit to neither -me

[13:01]<+camerongray> lol
[13:01]<+camerongray> I'd always use eBay :P
[13:01]<+camerongray> We have "Gumtree" here - Similar idea to Craigslist - I'd never trust it for things like that
[13:02]<+camerongray> Only time we've used it is for things like furnature or when we sold our CRT TV in 2007 as they needed to be collected locally
[13:02]<@BC_Programming> Tell me why I need another pet rock... tel me why I got that Alf Alarm clock
[13:02]<+camerongray> haha
[13:02]<@BC_Programming> temm me why I bid on shatner's old toupee
[13:02]<@BC_Programming> they had it on ebay
[13:02]<+camerongray> Put that on the office the other day since we are pretty famous for things like that
[13:03]<@BC_Programming> what did you put on the office
[13:04]<+camerongray> The eBay song :P
[13:04]<@BC_Programming> ah
[13:04]<+camerongray> We still should have been sold those Airbus seats!
[13:05]<+camerongray> Won them for £10, seller refused to send us them and refunded
[13:05]<@BC_Programming> can't you do something about that
[13:05]<+camerongray> Reported and left negative feedbac
[13:05]<+camerongray> feedback(
[13:06]<@BC_Programming> I was thinking doxx him and leave his front garden littered with various varieties of banana in the middle of the night, but that works too
[13:08]<+camerongray> hahaha!
[13:09]<@BC_Programming> It's a brilliant plantain
[13:09]<@BC_Programming> I mean plan
[14:55]<Craig-Work> Hungry BC?
