[03:33]<@BC_Programming> Winamp is all "I dunno what to do man"
[04:42]<+camerongray> Ahh yeah
[04:42]<+camerongray> Saw your post :(
[04:42]<+camerongray> You could always buy the new drives now and then put them in your new build later
[04:42]<@BC_Programming> yeah I don
[04:42]<@BC_Programming> oops
[04:42]<+camerongray> Unless you want that feeling of the new machine being completely new :P
[04:42]<@BC_Programming> I don't really need the new drives though at this point, since I only really needed them so I could back up the other one
[04:43]<+camerongray> AHh
[04:43]<@BC_Programming> now I would "need" it to replace the missing 1.5TB of space that I used to have
[04:43]<@BC_Programming> scared to look through my DVDs for fear that I don't actually have a backup of my photoshop stuff
[04:43]<@BC_Programming> I'm sure there is other stuff but that would be the biggest pain in the ass
[04:44]<@BC_Programming> I've been uninstalling games and crap I have never played
[04:44]<@BC_Programming> I installed Amnesia like 3 years ago and have never played it once
[04:51]<@BC_Programming> I know all my VB6 stuff was on there but I haven't touched that in eons and I have 7-zip files backed up on several DVDs, so at least I didn't lose that
[04:53]<@BC_Programming> I'm pretty sure I know what the last straw was, my Data Export program generates massive 200+ MB CSV files from the Moorage database
[04:53]<@BC_Programming> that was the last thing I was really doing with the drive before it disappeared from the system
[04:54]<@BC_Programming> Actually that's not true, it still shows up in explorer but can't be accessed... no error, just hangs explorer. No free space bar either. BIOS still detects it so it might work with a LiveCD or something
[04:54] * KindOne (KindOne@7DCA1E74.869FE2D2.90984A5.IP) Quit (Ping timeout)
[04:55]<@BC_Programming> I've removed it from my PC for now until I decide what to do with it

[05:03]<@BC_Programming> oh wow
[05:03]<@BC_Programming> I have like
[05:03]<@BC_Programming> 6 open WOs
[05:11]<@BC_Programming> A clean install will be nice, and new system to boot...
[05:11]<@BC_Programming> but must resist temptation to make the build this week :P

[06:25]<@jacky> ah
[06:25]<@jacky> so
[06:25]<PCdoc> going for gravity 3D tonight
[06:25]<PCdoc> in the movie hall
[06:25]<@jacky> enjoy!
[06:25]<@jacky> :)
[06:26]<PCdoc> the ChanbotVII keeps crashing I think all the time
[06:26]<@jacky> you think?
[06:26]<PCdoc> logs show very few logs
[06:26]<@jacky> <PCdoc> logs show very few logs << can you rephrase this?
[06:26]<@BC_Programming> uh it shows one for each day
[06:27]<@BC_Programming> look at the times. It goes through an entire day on each
[06:27]<@jacky> phone... brb
[06:28]<PCdoc> oh lol its chanserv .. i mis read it as ChanbotVII :P Don't know why.
[06:28]<PCdoc> There has been not much activity in last log
[06:28]<@BC_Programming> yeah. That might be a result of there not being much activity during the time it logs
[06:28]<@BC_Programming> just going out on a limb with that crazy theory
[06:29]<@BC_Programming> woah is my quit message random? when did I add that
[06:30]<@BC_Programming> haah it is, awesome
[06:30]<PCdoc> The scond last log file shows session start thrice
[06:30]<PCdoc> does that mean chanbot quit twice?
[06:30]<PCdoc> 09 nov 2013
[06:31]<@BC_Programming> it means chanbot rejoined twice
[06:31]<PCdoc> yeah

[11:55]<Craig-Work> Nice answer BC
[11:56]<@BC_Programming> to which do you refer
[11:57]<Craig-Work> [06:28] <&BC_Programming> yeah. That might be a result of there not being much activity during the time it logs
[11:57]<Craig-Work> [06:28] <&BC_Programming> just going out on a limb with that crazy theory
[11:57]<@BC_Programming> heh

[12:00]<Craig-Work> Arrrg customers with questions waste my time!!!
[12:00]<@BC_Programming> I'm scared to look for backups of my data
[12:00]<Craig-Work> Oh?
[12:00]<@BC_Programming> Second hard drive finally died last night
[12:01]<Craig-Work> danh
[12:01]<Craig-Work> dang*
[12:01]<@BC_Programming> still detected in the BIOS but trying to access it just hangs the machine, eventually giving an I/O error
[12:02]<@BC_Programming> I might try it again later or in an enclosure to see if it comes back to life or something
[12:02]<@BC_Programming> I don't even really know what I lost, I know I had stuff like my VB work that was on it backed up
[12:02]<Craig-Work> What I usually do is run in safemode and use Unstoppable coppier or Robo Copy to retreive data.
[12:02]<@BC_Programming> and I seem to remember backing up a whole bunch of stuff when it gave me a scare a few months ago
[12:02]<Craig-Work> I have a *script* of sorts.
[12:02]<@BC_Programming> Craig: the drive is inaccessible. I mean I cannot even see free space
[12:02]<Craig-Work> robocopy S:\ T:\Backup /MT:2 /e /zb /r:0 /w:0 /A-:RASH /xj /xd "S:\System Volume Information" S:\Windows /xf S:\pagefile.sys S:\hiberfil.sys
[12:03]<Craig-Work> Ahhh
[12:03]<Craig-Work> Well once in a while it may be accessable,
[12:03]<@BC_Programming> eg. Starting explorer and just looking at the drives hangs
[12:03]<Craig-Work> thats when you do it. :p
[12:03]<@BC_Programming> Before it would just disappear from the system
[12:03]<Craig-Work> Yeah
[12:03]<@BC_Programming> I'm thinking an enclosure, that way I don't have to hard reboot to get it to reinitialize
[12:03]<Craig-Work> Atleast its detecting, thats a better than nothing sign. :)
[12:03]<Craig-Work> Yeah
[12:04]<@BC_Programming> I mostly want my photoshop stuff that is on there, that stuff takes ages and you can't really make a .psd to match a .png afterwards heh
[12:05]<@BC_Programming> Emulation/Rom/games/programs/music/videos/etc I can just download again, bit of a pain but not a huge problem
[12:06]<@BC_Programming> At first I thought maybe the drive was just running really hot since that sometimes causes issues after it was on for a while. So I shut it down for the night but still no go this morning oh well
[12:06]<@BC_Programming> can't say it was sudden what with the whole failing S.M.A.R.T and having problems for like the last two years
[12:07]<Craig-Work> Hahahaha
[12:07]<@BC_Programming> Worse still one of my other externals failed the other day too
[12:07]<Craig-Work> Well if you like, I can give you storage access to my server if you want an off site backup. You can Encrypt the data if you like too.
[12:07]<Craig-Work> Dang
[12:08]<@BC_Programming> that's always the way it happens, I never have one drive fail, it's always more than one failing close to each other, heh
[12:08]<Craig-Work> That sucks,
[12:09]<Craig-Work> I have 5 that I bought all at once, I am concerned, so I am thinking about getting 5 more as duplication backup.
[12:10]<@BC_Programming> I have backup DVDs strewn about but no real clue exactly what I lost.
[12:10]<@BC_Programming> Didn't lose any more recent work since I moved that to C: a while back
[12:10]<Craig-Work> That really sucks.
[12:10]<Craig-Work> You should build a server! :) We could duplicate eachothers data for redundancy!
[12:11]<@BC_Programming> I have .7z files on a drive somewhere that backup the programming projects I had on my secondary but I'm not sure what drive those are on
[12:11]<@BC_Programming> and I hope it wasn't the external that failed!
[12:11]<Craig-Work> I agree
[12:11]<@BC_Programming> Pretty sure I burned those though too
[12:11]<@BC_Programming> I went nuts backing stuff up for a while there, used like 50 DVDs
[12:11]<Craig-Work> Crazy
[12:12]<@BC_Programming> at least my Minecraft World is safe, lol
[12:13]<@BC_Programming> bright side is going to be that moving to a new build will be easier since there is less data to try to transfer
[12:19]<@BC_Programming> hmm external worked now
[12:20]<@BC_Programming> oh man what a tease
[12:21]<Craig-Work> :P
[12:21]<Craig-Work> Save it, save it now!
[12:21]<@BC_Programming> weird, when I put it upside down the external shows up instead of click-deathing
[12:21]<@BC_Programming> oh I can access the folder I wanted haha
[12:21]<@BC_Programming> xcopy all of the things
[12:21]<Craig-Work> Thats not that weird, I mean the if the needle is hanging instead of standing it will perform better.
[12:21]<Craig-Work> :P
[12:22]<@BC_Programming> yes
[12:22]<@BC_Programming> yes copy
[12:23]<@BC_Programming> Now I'm not sure if I can wait for a new build to be rid of these busted hard drive issues, haha
[12:23]<Craig-Work> Oh?
[12:23]<Craig-Work> why is this?
[12:24]<@BC_Programming> because it's a pain in the butt
[12:24]<Craig-Work> Whats going into your new computer?
[12:24]<@BC_Programming> also my System drive works and doesn't fail SMART but if it is going to fail it would probably do so now
[12:24]<@BC_Programming> I haven't decided yet
[12:25]<@BC_Programming> I was aiming for around 1500 or so
[12:25]<Craig-Work> Nice, that could build a pretty strong tower.
[12:25]<@BC_Programming> was going to get Calum's help choosing components, he was a big help for this one
[12:25]<Craig-Work> You're aiming for a tower correct
[12:25]<Craig-Work> ?
[12:25]<Craig-Work> Why not me?
[12:26]<@BC_Programming> Because Calum has already helped me build one and I like it... hard drive issues notwithstanding, lol

[12:27]<Craig-Work> :p
[12:28]<Craig-Work> Do you want an i5 or i7?
[12:31]<@BC_Programming> thats a new one, I can dir and see files but I just get file not found trying to actually copy them
[12:32]<@BC_Programming> actually I get File not found for anything I do on the drive now, lol
[12:33]<@BC_Programming> now it's click of deathing again sigh
[12:37]<Craig-Work> Do you still use your hotmail address?
[12:37]<@BC_Programming> yes
[12:38]<Craig-Work> Hmmm I may have sent it twice, check your e-mail. :)
[12:39]<Craig-Work> The red drives that I chose are good for 24/7 use, much longer life under load 24.7
[12:40]<Craig-Work> 24/7
[13:54] * Nat (nat@mib-921C62AC.socal.res.rr.com) Quit (Quit: zzzZZZzzzZZzzZZZzz)
[14:41]<+camerongray> BC_Programming: I'll help too :P
[14:42]<@BC_Programming> going to be a while yet
[14:42]<+camerongray> yeah
[14:42]<@BC_Programming> I'm not sure how long it will take to get enough anymore :/
[14:42]<+camerongray> Ahh
[14:43]<@BC_Programming> Place my step-dad works is closing so I'm going to be the only earner starting next week
[14:43]<@BC_Programming> not sure how that will go with my plans
[14:44]<@BC_Programming> not to mention now I'm expected to buy them christmas presents
[14:45]<@BC_Programming> you know what, Build comes first
[14:46]<@BC_Programming> if I get enough after that to get them things so be it, but I'm going to be using the build to earn so I figure priority. Especially since if this desktop dies I'm pretty much screwed
[14:46]<+camerongray> yeah
[14:46]<@BC_Programming> 28th I should have a good lot to start a build
[14:46]<+camerongray> Take it you are going towards CPU heavy rather than GPU?
[14:46]<@BC_Programming> let me do the math and see a more accurate amount of how much I'll end up with
[14:47]<@BC_Programming> hmm
[14:47]<@BC_Programming> 1500 not counting anything I buy, dammit
[14:48]<+camerongray> That should be loads :P
[14:48]<@BC_Programming> yeah but I want a new monitor :P
[14:48]<+camerongray> Ahh
[14:48]<+camerongray> But your PSU is fine surely
[14:48]<@BC_Programming> if I wait until the pay after I'll have 1950
[14:48]<@BC_Programming> hmm
[14:48]<@BC_Programming> yes that's a good point
[14:48]<@BC_Programming> do I build entirely anew, or just do a partial rebuild?
[14:49]<@BC_Programming> could save a lot that route, but then I won't have this machine as a 'fallback' or a second machine, either, hmmm
[14:49]<+camerongray> I'd build completely new with the exception of a couple of "dumb" parts like PSU
[14:49]<+camerongray> It's also nice to have that "new" feeling
[14:50]<@BC_Programming> well I could
[14:50]<@BC_Programming> make the new build for the 1400-1500 or so for sure, then just get the monitor later
[14:51]<+camerongray> Yeah
[14:51]<@BC_Programming> I guess technically I could even skip a PSU or Graphics card and use the ones I have, then get new ones when my account "recharges" heh
[14:51]<+camerongray> That'll get something really nice for sure
[14:51]<+camerongray> Should be able to fit a graphics card in that $1500
[14:52]<@BC_Programming> oh definitely
[14:52]<@BC_Programming> yeah this one was like 1000 altogether so I'm going to have an extra 500$ to work with basically, and this one is pretty good, hard drive problems notwithstanding
[14:54]<@BC_Programming> actually I wonder if we get a christmas bonus
[14:54]<+camerongray> I'd look at a Haswell i7 4770k
[14:54]<@BC_Programming> I remember being told they can cover part of the tab for new machines because we use them for work
[14:54]<+camerongray> Ahh nice!
[14:55]<@BC_Programming> maybe it was a lie :P
[14:55]<+camerongray> 16gb RAM should be fine, whatever graphics card is decent enough for you, SSD, HDDs, 650w PSU or so
[14:55]<+camerongray> And get a nice case - Hint - Corsair 650D
[14:55]<@BC_Programming> yeah that's why I'm thinking Calum would be a good help, he's good at picking stuff that is in the comfy zone of price/perf
[14:56]<@BC_Programming> at this point Graphics cards are a bunch of random numbers
[14:56]<+camerongray> lol
[14:59]<@BC_Programming> Nvidia RF 4560+ Extreme
[15:00]<+camerongray> haha
[15:00]<+camerongray> Something like a 760 or 770 would likely be enough
[15:00]<+camerongray> Unless you want to go mental
[15:01]<@BC_Programming> All I know is SSD and a 2GB second drive
[15:02]<@BC_Programming> heh
[15:02]<@BC_Programming> 2GB
[15:02]<@BC_Programming> 2TB
[15:04]<@BC_Programming> probably want a motherboard that can do SLI, but will probably go with one card to start with
[15:04]<@BC_Programming> just keep the upgrade options open
[15:04] * Nat (nat@mib-921C62AC.socal.res.rr.com) has joined #glitchpc
[15:04]<@BC_Programming> definitely starting with 16GB, would just feel wrong to build a new machine that has the same amount of RAM as this one
[15:11]<+camerongray> Yeah
[15:11]<+camerongray> Any decent motherboard will do SLI and Crossfire nowadays
[15:11]<@BC_Programming> both?
[15:11]<+camerongray> Yeah
