[03:27]<+camerongray> *facepalm* <guitar_man> second hand is damaged goods
[03:27]<@BC_Programming> hahahah
[03:28]<+camerongray> My laptop was second hand, not a scratch :P
[03:28]<+camerongray> Then I used it for a bit... :D
[03:28]<+camerongray> Still begging work to get a source control system :P
[03:29]<@BC_Programming> :O
[03:30]<+camerongray> Yeah
[03:31]<+camerongray> It's because we aren't really a software company so it's not like there is a team of developers
[03:32]<@BC_Programming> excuses
[03:32]<+camerongray> lol
[03:32]<+camerongray> Now debating with the other developer over SVN vs Git
[03:35]<+camerongray> They bought me a new mouse though so that's good :D
[03:35]<@BC_Programming> lol
[03:35]<+camerongray> The one I was using broke, so now using a ball mouse!
[03:37]<+camerongray> At least I was able to swap the keyboard for one I can actually use
[03:38]<+camerongray> It's annoying though - several spare mechanicals at home, don't think the others would appreciate them though
[03:41]<PCdoc> camerongray: pm
[03:42]<+camerongray> At work I now have one of those Dell ones with the massive spacebar and no real frame - As far as rubber dome boards go, I actually like them
[03:42]<@BC_Programming> camerongray: I find a SVN a bit easier to use than git
[03:43]<@BC_Programming> pretty much the same overall... git apparently has better functionality in terms of dealing with branches, but I don't know first-hand
[04:02] * FusRoDah (mulreay@mib-408AE6D.cable.virginmedia.com) has joined #glitchpc
[04:02] * FusRoDah is now known as PixelsintheBlood
[04:03] * PixelsintheBlood is now known as Mulreay
[04:03] * ChanServ sets mode: +o Mulreay
[04:03]<@Mulreay> New GPU has just shown up
[04:04]<@BC_Programming> did it call ahead first
[04:04]<@Mulreay> lol
[04:04]<+camerongray> lol, nice
[04:05]<@Mulreay> Now the fitting... eaugh
[04:07]<@Mulreay> OK the back blanking plates don't seem to just 'come of' should I break them?
[04:07]<@BC_Programming> I tried to get fitted once but for some reason they wouldn't measure my breast size
[04:07]<@Mulreay> lol
[04:07]<@BC_Programming> they were alll "you're a male" and I was all "that's discrimination"
[04:08]<@BC_Programming> blanking plates? You mean the funky metal bits at the rear of the case I guess?
[04:08]<@Mulreay> yep
[04:08]<@BC_Programming> I think mine are part of the case and need to be broken off but I'm not 100%
[04:08]<@BC_Programming> usually they are screwed in or held in by whatever keeps installed cards in place
[04:09]<@Mulreay> yeah these are attached to the case
[04:09]<@Mulreay> but bendy
[04:09]<@BC_Programming> mine break off fwiw
[04:10]<@Mulreay> Yeah it snapped off
[04:11]<@BC_Programming> hopefully the correct one
[04:11]<@BC_Programming> what Graphics card did you get again
[04:11]<@Mulreay> Yeah, will have to remove the wireless as it's in the way
[04:13]<@BC_Programming> I just like opening my web banking thing
[04:13]<@BC_Programming> and looking at how I have money
[04:14]<@BC_Programming> so now if any of my friends need any I can send some to them
[04:15]<@BC_Programming> except for camerongray
[04:15]<+camerongray> lol
[04:15]<@BC_Programming> heh
[04:15]<+camerongray> I had an accident on eBay, need money :P
[04:15]<@BC_Programming> lol
[04:15]<@BC_Programming> what exactly qualifies as an "ebay accident"?
[04:16]<@BC_Programming> I kinda want to get a wasdkeyboard now like I planned
[04:16]<@BC_Programming> but if I wait a few pay periods I could build a uber machine
[04:17]<@BC_Programming> sooner if I somehow get another raise
[04:18]<+camerongray> Well, the XT happened :P
[04:19]<+camerongray> Not really spent all my money on it, but I could if I tried :P
[04:19]<@Mulreay> OK I don't think that 'snap' sound was it fitting in the port
[04:19]<@BC_Programming> it could be
[04:20]<@BC_Programming> the little tabby thing at the end of the PCI-E port fitting into the hole on the card
[04:20]<@Mulreay> I hope so :p
[04:21]<@BC_Programming> well if things go wrong you know whose fault it was
[04:21]<@BC_Programming> camerongray's
[04:21]<+camerongray> haha
[04:21]<@BC_Programming> see he's already gloating of how he's ruined everything
[04:22] * Zuwer (Mibbit@mib-9196E61D.jetstream.xtra.co.nz) Quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)

[04:22]<@Mulreay> You owe me a PC if this dies camerongray it was you back in the day going all 'oo crossfire, crossfire' you minion of evil
[04:22]<+camerongray> haha!
[04:23]<@Mulreay> OK but on a more pratical note should I use the HDMI connectors on the GPU or on the MB?
[04:25]<@BC_Programming> I don't know if it matters if you are using crossfire
[04:25]<@Mulreay> k
[04:25]<@Mulreay> Will use the mb as i need to set up the crossfire first I suppose
[04:26]<@Mulreay> he says, knowing nothing
[04:26]<@BC_Programming> it might automatically disable the on-board and use the Graphics card to start though too
[04:26]<@Mulreay> Just powered it on
[04:27]<@BC_Programming> I wonder if I can actualyl get any Socket 755 CPUs anywhere to upgrade my computer
[04:27]<@Mulreay> nothing from the mb HDMI
[04:28]<+camerongray> I'd try the card
[04:28]<+camerongray> Will probably default to the card first like it would without crossfire
[04:29]<@Mulreay> OK nothing from any HDMI port.. good start
[04:29]<@BC_Programming> does it beep
[04:29]<@BC_Programming> single beep is the beep of life
[04:30]<@BC_Programming> oh also don't forget to plug in the power cord to the Graphics card too
[04:30]<@Mulreay> nada just no visual
[04:30]<@BC_Programming> if it doesn't beep at all that's a bad sign
[04:31]<+camerongray> Well, assuming it beeped before :P
[04:32]<@BC_Programming> heh I could upgrade my Q8200 to a Q9800for 200 Dollars
[04:32]<@BC_Programming> yeah no thx I think I'll save
[04:32]<+camerongray> yeah :P
[04:32]<+camerongray> Get a nice i5 or i7
[04:32]<+camerongray> Oh and SSD
[04:33]<+camerongray> Always get an SSD
[04:33]<+camerongray> If you don't I'll kill a puppy
[04:33]<@BC_Programming> I'll probably pile up money for a few months
[04:33]<@BC_Programming> probably 1200-1500
[04:34]<+camerongray> yeah
[04:34]<@BC_Programming> this one was a little over $1000 if memory serves
[04:34]<@Mulreay> OK poor fit, working now
[04:34]<@BC_Programming> yay
[04:35]<@Mulreay> He says with a computer in bits on his bed.. time to re-attach a butt ton of fans
[04:35]<PCdoc> camerongray: see pm
[04:37]<@Mulreay> Don't look camerongray for it will burn thy eyes
[04:38]<+camerongray> lol!
[04:47]<@Mulreay> OK stuck now.. graphics on the screen look like VGA and I'm not sure what I should do
[04:47]<@BC_Programming> install drivers for the new card
[04:48]<@Mulreay> k
[04:50]<jamer> Im ptobably gonna have to get a new flash drive soon...
[04:51]<+camerongray> Oh yeah Mulreay, you need DriverAgent :P
[04:51]<@Mulreay> Get the new itb british built one.. will cost you well over £1000 though
[04:51]<@Mulreay> 1tb*
[04:52]<@Mulreay> cool camerongray thanks
[04:52]<jamer> Mines already complaining about scanning and fixing errors on it even after i just formatted
[04:52]<+camerongray> Was kidding!
[04:52]<+camerongray> Don't touch DA
[04:52]<+camerongray> It's that junk that guitar_man recommends
[04:53]<@Mulreay> Installed already.. damn.. all my firefox extensions have stopped working and mu=y homepage is some stupid thing i can't change.. will have to re-install firefox
[04:54]<@BC_Programming> good work camerongray
[04:54]<@Mulreay> How can you get pop-ups when your browser is not open?
[04:55]<+camerongray> Oh sorry :P
[04:55]<PCdoc> ummm... may b u left corns in the microwave ?
[04:55]<PCdoc> :P
[04:55]<+camerongray> AFAIK though DA doesn't do that :P
[04:55]<+camerongray> Doesn't need installed either
[04:55]<@BC_Programming> EXCUSES
[04:56]<@Mulreay> jk I was messing with you camerongray to show that some dumb feck will do that if you joke about it
[04:56]<PCdoc> i have had enough of DA'stoday
[04:56]<+camerongray> Oh :P
[04:56]<+camerongray> Sarcasm is tricky over IRC :D
[04:56]<@BC_Programming> DA=District Attorney
[04:56]<+camerongray> haha
[04:56]<@BC_Programming> replace DA with District Attorney when DriverAgent comes on on CH for laughs I guess
[04:56]<PCdoc> Dumb ***hole
[04:56]<@Mulreay> OK but AMD driver starts then stops immediately
[04:57]<@BC_Programming> AMD Driver install?
[04:57]<@Mulreay> yeah
[04:58]<@BC_Programming> I remember ATI drives pissed me off a lot and ATI is now AMD's Graphics cards
[04:59]<@Mulreay> Apparently I don't have permission for anything as an admin
[04:59]<@Mulreay> This is getting on my teets
[05:02]<@Mulreay> Nope can't use AMD driver download as it when it starts it dies.. tried a direct download and I don't have permission.. way to go feckwit hardware companies
[05:04] * Zuwer (Mibbit@mib-9196E61D.jetstream.xtra.co.nz) Quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
[05:07]<@BC_Programming> don't have permission?
[05:07]<@Mulreay> Yep it says 'you do not have permission to change this file'
[05:08]<@BC_Programming> run as administrator
[05:08]<@BC_Programming> as in (right-click run as admin)
[05:08]<@BC_Programming> the installer should be smart enough to do that itself but like I said ATI pissed me off
[05:08]<@Mulreay> Yep already tried that
[05:10]<@BC_Programming> I wonder if you ahve to uninstall the driver you already have installed
[05:10]<jamer> You get a cd woth the gpu?
[05:10]<jamer> With*
[05:10]<@Mulreay> Download error (filename) could not be saved, because you cannot change the contents of that folder. Change the folder properties and try again. This is saving to my desktop
[05:11]<@Mulreay> So shite creak without a paddle springs to mind
[05:12]<@BC_Programming> http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_save_or_download_files
[05:12]<@BC_Programming> seems related to your firefox funkiness perhaps
[05:15]<@Mulreay> Who da man? BC_Programming is the man.. thats who!!
[05:16]<@BC_Programming> I'm assuming something worked
[05:16]<@Mulreay> Worked a treat by changing the download folder
[05:16]<@BC_Programming> or perhaps you are merely stating my gender which is also ok I guess
[05:16]<@BC_Programming> lol
[05:18]<@Mulreay> Lots and lots of stuff installing.. I like this :p
[05:20]<@Mulreay> But loads of 'driver install failed' warnings.. sweet
[05:20]<@Mulreay> Like trying to push squares through circles
[05:23]<@Mulreay> Still all broken and the screen res looks like a 90's tv.. sigh.. why bother hey?
[05:27]<@Mulreay> If anyone would like a go on teamviewer then let me know as I'm stuck. Friends only need apply.
[05:28]<@BC_Programming> anything specific about driver install failed
[05:28]<@Mulreay> Nope just failed
[05:28]<@BC_Programming> hmm I can give teamviewer a go for you
[05:29]<@Mulreay> Cool, will send you a code in PM
[05:29]<@BC_Programming> kk
[05:31]<+camerongray> NO HELP IN TEAMVIEWER
[05:31]<@BC_Programming> lol
[05:31]<@Mulreay> lol
[05:36]<@BC_Programming> what was teh graphics card model?
[05:36]<@Mulreay> HD 6670
[05:36]<@BC_Programming> kk
[05:37]<@Mulreay> You type way fast
[05:37]<+camerongray> lol
[05:39]<@Mulreay> If you download BC_Programming I changed it to the 'RAW files' on the right
[05:39]<@BC_Programming> lol that's new "The data is invalid"
[05:39]<@Mulreay> Wow, this is a mess
[05:40]<@BC_Programming> I wonder if you could install them one at a time?
[05:40]<@BC_Programming> like disable the on-board entirely, install the GPU driver, make sure that works, then enable the on-board?
[05:40]<@Mulreay> No idea how to do that
[05:41]<@BC_Programming> in teh CMOS setup usually
[05:43]<@BC_Programming> lol warnings during uninstall even
[05:44]<@Mulreay> great watching you work :p
[05:45]<@Mulreay> as in fascinating
[05:46]<@BC_Programming> something failed that time but I'm sure it wasn't important
[05:46]<@BC_Programming> HDMI audio driver
[05:46]<@BC_Programming> oh the display driver failed too, balls
[05:46]<@BC_Programming> but it totally showed the progress bar fill twice
[05:46]<@BC_Programming> that should mean like, super-installed
[05:46]<@Mulreay> lol
[05:48]<@BC_Programming> I'm using the googlez
[05:48]<@Mulreay> seriously thabk you for the help BC_Programming
[05:48]<@Mulreay> thank*
[05:51]<@BC_Programming> Ok here's a plan but it deals with CMOS setup so that would need you :P as well as twaddling the hardware bits, from what I can tell you would need to go int othe CMOS and set your Integrated Graphics setting from 'auto' to 'force'
[05:51]<@Mulreay> ok
[05:51]<@BC_Programming> then remove the added card, restart, install the driver as it was before, updated/etc. This would need a reboot as well presumably, Hopefully it won't fail as it is currently
[05:52]<@BC_Programming> this should put you back how you were before, eg. running from on-board
[05:52]<@BC_Programming> this is the part that is different, you reinstall the card and before booting you would set the primary GPU in the CMOS setup to the on-board
[05:53]<@BC_Programming> then when you restart it should still load up as usual and proper since the system still "knows" about the on-board, and the nthe driver will be all "oh shiz I know this card" and add the added card
[05:53]<@BC_Programming> It <might> be possible also for you to just reboot and set Primary to the on-board and install the drivers that way but I dunno
[05:53]<@BC_Programming> really you would think it would work now
[05:53]<@BC_Programming> but... AMD, I suppose
[05:54]<@Mulreay> OK can you just put that into simple steps? Like 'remove card' 'start up' 'add this' so i don't mess up friend
[05:55]<@BC_Programming> ok
[05:55]<@BC_Programming> 1.remove the Graphics Card.
[05:56]<@BC_Programming> 2. Boot up, enter CMOS. Look for a setting to change the integrated graphics mode, force it to On-board/integrated/ or whatever terms it happens to use
[05:56]<@BC_Programming> 3. boot up, the drivers Should install properly for the on-board now
[05:57]<@BC_Programming> 4. shut down, reinstall the Graphics card
[05:57]<@BC_Programming> 5. boot up and the driver should load-up and find the new card... beyond that I wouldn't know how to actually setup crossfire tbh
[05:58]<@BC_Programming> but I imagine having the card and integrated properly installed is a requirement
[06:08]<@Mulreay> OK I entered the bios but it will take some pictures as I don't have a screen grab in CMOS
[06:16]<@Mulreay> http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/835/gapb.jpg/
[06:17]<@BC_Programming> what's the top option that is highlighted
[06:17]<@Mulreay> Onchip SATA channel
[06:18]<@BC_Programming> that's weird, no option for the integrated GPU
[06:18]<@Mulreay> I will type them all out one sec..
[06:22]<@Mulreay> Onchip = SATA channel, SATA type, SATA port 4-7 type, Enable all USB devices, HD Audio Azaiia Device, IOMMU, Onboard LAN controller, Legacy USB support, XHCI hand-off, EHCI-off, port 60-64 Emulation, USB storage devices, Multiplecard reader 1.00, SATA config, GFX config, Super IO config
[06:32]<@Mulreay> Well that was £60 down the drain
[06:33]<@BC_Programming> the option is in there somewhere, it's probably on another page
[06:41]<@Mulreay> Yeah tried the other pages and nothing.. no offence but I asked Calum on FB for his opinion.
[06:47]<PCdoc> camerongray: check pm
[06:52]<@Mulreay> And wear sunglasses
[06:57]<+camerongray> :D
[07:27]<@Mulreay> OK after talking with calum I'm not sure what to do..
[07:27]<@Mulreay> It appears I'm screwed
[07:30]<@Mulreay> And now my coputer won't even recocnise my external drive.. today has been interesting
[07:30]<@Mulreay> computer*
[07:32]<@Mulreay> Trying my hardest to see the good side of this £60 hardware
[07:39]<@Mulreay> Had to remove it.. too annoying and not working
[07:40]<@Mulreay> Ridiculous
[07:51] * Nat (nat@mib-921C62AC.socal.res.rr.com) Quit (Quit: zzzZZZzzzZZzzZZZzz)
[07:51]<@Mulreay> Now my external HDD won't show up on the PC.. I paid £60 to completely mess up my computer.. awesome..
[07:56]<@Mulreay> Removed the GPU and back on true HD with the MB... maybe tomorrow
[08:03]<+camerongray> Hmm, PSU issue perhaps?
[08:06]<@Mulreay> The GPU powers up fine but won't eccept driver updates.. ie software for win8
[08:06]<@Mulreay> accept*
[08:13]<@Mulreay> Calum is coming on about 7:30pm BST to help out
[08:16]<@Mulreay> It would seem that it's just my USB 3.0 ports have died
[08:23] * Craig (ce@68A63EDB.12C040BF.6FA62CE2.IP) has joined #glitchpc
[08:24] * ChanbotVII sets mode: +v Craig
[08:25]<+Craig> Hey Mulreay, sorry about forgetting to attach it, its sent now.
[08:35]<@Mulreay> thank you Craig means a lot :)
[08:39]<@Mulreay> That's a great reference Craig thank you
[08:40]<+Craig> I Tried, :)
[08:41]<@BC_Programming> Imma sleep then try to make some progress on these frikkin report templates
[08:42]<@BC_Programming> I wish they would just get me to do C# and Java stuff
[08:42]<@Mulreay> Good luck BC_Programming
[08:42]<+Craig> :P Yeah, they are going to have me doing Warrenty repairs, not excited about that either :P
[08:43]<@BC_Programming> mostly because with C# and Java work I actually make progress and usually quite fast
[08:43]<@BC_Programming> with the template I basically need to get an image from a database into a Jasper report... struggled with it for 5 hours before finding out that it's actually impossible because of postgres and how the database table is setup
[08:43]<@Mulreay> I can destroy a programme faster than anyone if your boss is looking for staff BC_Programming?
[08:44]<@BC_Programming> Then we decided to use a workaround, where the Java program I wrote will cache all memo'd BLOB data from teh table into local files and pass them as a parameter to the report to use, which ought to work
[08:44]<@BC_Programming> I finished the addition to the Java JAR file within a half-hour lol
[08:46]<@Mulreay> BC_Programming how much would I have to train to understand what you are saying? Seroiusly
[08:46]<@Mulreay> Seriously*
[08:46]<@BC_Programming> I dunno
[08:47]<+Craig> You would probably have to have a slight background in programming, atleast one of the basic forms of the languages he is talking about :P
[08:47]<@Mulreay> Collage or Uni?
[08:47]<+Craig> College
[08:48]<@Mulreay> k
[08:49]<@BC_Programming> I need a multiple desktop program or something
[08:49]<@Mulreay> One feels I was not meant for programming as I can only speak bits of French, Spanish and German
[08:49]<@BC_Programming> the number of programs on my taskbar is ridiculous
[08:49]<+camerongray> Mulreay: You should give it a go
[08:49]<+camerongray> You are pretty logical so should be good at it
[08:49]<+Craig> Heh, Mulreay, I am good at what I do know of Programming, and know only bits of German, Japenese, and so on,
[08:50]<@BC_Programming> camerongray: he does TCL
[08:50]<+Craig> Doesn't mean we couldn't lean it.
[08:50]<@Mulreay> TCL lol
[08:50]<+Craig> learn*
[08:50]<@Mulreay> like the back end of languages
[08:51]<@BC_Programming> probably better than THEOS BASIC
[08:51]<@BC_Programming> I thankfully don't have to write that
[08:51]<@BC_Programming> but I do have to read it... completely uncommented... *shudders*
[08:52]<@Mulreay> heh
[08:53]<@Mulreay> Craig you know Japenese?
[08:53]<@Mulreay> Like konnichiwa
[08:53]<+Craig> A few sentences and maybe a couple extra words. :P
[08:53]<+Craig> Konichiwa, O genki desu ka?
[08:53]<@Mulreay> heh
[08:53]<@Mulreay> cool
[08:53]<@Mulreay> I know just hello..
[08:54]<+camerongray> I know none :P
[08:54]<@Mulreay> You know Konichiwa camerongray
[08:54]<+camerongray> True
[08:55]<+camerongray> And a little German
[08:55]<+camerongray> And can understand Scottish accents so that counds
[08:55]<+camerongray> counts*
[08:55]<+camerongray> Especially in Glasgow
[08:55]<+Craig> :P
[08:56]<@Mulreay> I can understand the Scottish, I think the only other people apart from the Scottish is the damn English
[08:57]<@Mulreay> I don't understand the difference between the Canadians and the Americans
[08:58]<@Mulreay> You all sound the same to me
[08:59]<+Craig> You just need to hear the difference more,
[08:59]<+camerongray> Yeah, I can tell sometimes but get mixed up a lot
[09:00]<+Craig> I can tell the difference between Northern and southern England, and scottland.
[09:02]<+camerongray> And probably between some areas of Scotland
[09:02]<+camerongray> Big change between them
[09:02]<+Craig> Possibly, been a while since I have heard them seperately.
[09:02]<+camerongray> Yeah
[09:03]<+camerongray> The Edinburgh accent isn't that Scottish (As far as I can tell) but Glasgow on the other hand

[12:12]<@Calum> did you try the DDU thing that I linked you to earlier?
[12:13]<@Mulreay> No I was unplugged then.. please clarify

[12:15]<@Calum> https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/550192/geforce-drivers/display-driver-uninstaller-ddu-v6-3/
[12:15]<@Calum> that's better
[12:15]<@Calum> basically it's a driver cleaner, so it'll remove all traces of the graphics drivers on your system, and let you start from fresh
[12:16]<@Calum> so my suggestion is to run that, with all three boxes checked, and power down, install the card, then boot up and install the drivers
[12:16]<@Calum> that leaves you with a completely fresh install of the GPU drivers, no chance of an old file or something conflicting
[12:18]<@Mulreay> kk

[12:55]<@Mulreay> no problem will just remove it and see what AMD say
[12:55]<@Calum> where did you buy it from?

[13:36]<@Mulreay> So I'm screwed unless I do a windows refresh
[13:36]<@Mulreay> Which I lose EVERYTHING on my desktop and all my files
[13:36]<@Calum> what's a windows refresh? is that like a repair install or system file checker or whatever?
[13:36]<@Calum> oh, I guess not quite the same then
[13:36]<@Calum> I haven't used Win8 so I don't know much about it at all, sorry for the stupid questions
[13:37]<@Mulreay> Np it's just me venting.. if you do a 'refresh' on win8 it's like a backup re-install
[13:38]<@Calum> gotcha
[13:38]<@Calum> can you still do either a repair install or the old sfc /scannow thing?
[13:39]<@Calum> ah apparently sfc /scannow should still work, that might be worth trying because it won't lose you anything
[13:39]<@Calum> open a command prompt as admin and just type sfc /scannow and hit enter, might ask you for your disk, should scan your important system files and repalce them if they're not right
[13:40]<@Mulreay> kk will try

[13:41]<@Calum> ok
[13:43]<@Mulreay> Thanks for staying around and helping Calum I appreciate it.. but don't feel obligated as I'm thinking a refresh is in order
[13:44]<@Calum> alright, well don't give up hope, sfc has helped me in some situations before, so let that complete and reboot first, before you refresh, might save you some grief
[13:45]<@Mulreay> yeah hope so
