[05:46]<@jacky> !lastspoke camerongray
[05:55]<+camerongray> Hey jacky
[05:55]<@jacky> Hello
[05:55]<@jacky> couldn't remember which bot had !lastspoke
[05:55]<@jacky> hehe
[05:55]<@jacky> you were the guinea pig
[05:55]<+camerongray> lol!
[05:55]<@jacky> !lastspoke camerongray
[05:56]<@jacky> :)
[06:01]<+camerongray> So hope I win this! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190884036042?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1426.l2648
[06:01]<+camerongray> At £4 with 5:30 to go :D
[06:03]<+camerongray> Keyboard looks really good condition and really old so that's worth a lot
[06:03]<+camerongray> And hopefully the machine will either work (Doubt that) or I'll be able to fix it
[06:06]<@jacky> http://www.redcross.org/take-a-class
[06:06]<+camerongray> lol!
[06:06]<@jacky> hehe
[06:06]<+camerongray> I've never electrocuted myself except once with a 9v battery!
[06:07]<@jacky> get into ham rado. poke your fingers around in the final amplifiers sections of some amps. Tube (you might call them valves) types
[06:07]<@jacky> you'll get a charge out of it
[06:07]<@jacky> heheh
[06:07]<@jacky> if you live
[06:12]<+camerongray> hahaha!
[06:13]<+camerongray> I only injure myself on things that aren't meant to be dangerous!
[06:14]<@jacky> camerongray, the accident looking for a place to happen
[06:14]<@jacky> :)
[06:14]<+camerongray> hahah
[06:17]<+camerongray> If that keyboard works though, should be worth upwards of £80
[06:18]<@jacky> wow
[06:18]<@jacky> I hope you get it then
[06:18]<+camerongray> Yeah :P
[06:18]<@jacky> be back in about a half hour, estimate
[06:18]<@jacky>
[06:18]<+camerongray> Even a set of caps for that costs around £20 excluding shipping
[06:21]<@BC_Programming> hey ppl
[06:21]<@BC_Programming> can't see the keyboard but apparently that isn't causing me any problems, heh
[06:22]<@BC_Programming> camerongray: have I told you about how my site was hacked?
[06:22]<+camerongray> Something to do with WP?
[06:22]<@BC_Programming> indeed... wp-cron it seems
[06:23]<@BC_Programming> I thought it was an interesting bit of investigation looking over all the logs
[06:28]<PCdoc> my dad had that keyboard and comp in 1990's :-s
[06:28]<+camerongray> PCdoc: Lol yeah, Model Ms are worth a lot now
[06:29]<PCdoc> 486
[06:29]<+camerongray> I have a 1989 which is pretty valuable but that one must be around 1986-1987
[06:29]<@BC_Programming> XT should be like 84 iirc
[06:30]<@BC_Programming> 86-87 was more 286's
[06:31]<PCdoc> and i remember 5" floppy was used to boot a comp to dos first
[06:31]<PCdoc> and then at cmd prompt type win to start windows .. ummm win 3.1
[06:31]<@BC_Programming> Windows required a hard drive...
[06:32]<PCdoc> yeah but it was some kind of boot first to dos and then typoe wiun to start
[06:32]<PCdoc> may b at that time i had 2 comps then. one booted from floppy and other through hard drive
[06:32]<PCdoc> and to shut down i had to type /park at cmd prompt so that it shuts down
[06:33]<@BC_Programming> windows 3.1 wasn't an OS on it's own, but it required an HD so DOS would be on the HD too
[06:35]<PCdoc> the next one we had was pentium 1-100MHz and later upgraded with 200MHZ, the processor and the motherboard is still with me. bigger in size.
[06:36]<PCdoc> the bios IC was a bit big in size and had cache memory, looked like RAM, I burtn it down when i was learning :(
[06:36]<@BC_Programming> burnt it down?
[06:37]<PCdoc> it was not turning on, and i was like knew very very few things or almost nothing. I dident knew abt the switch at the PSU that its a voltage changer switch. Our country accepts 230v and I slided the switch to 210V
[06:37]<PCdoc> there was a boom
[06:37]<PCdoc> i started shouting with ears closed... took time to come out of that scene where after a while i understood what actually happened :(
[06:37]<@BC_Programming> that would have blown the PSU
[06:38]<PCdoc> yeah
[06:38]<PCdoc> but it did not like do one single BOOM but like as if someone is lighting crackers
[06:43]<+camerongray> Ahh BC_Programming - Yeah, the keyboard most likely isn't original, Model Ms came with PS/2s and ATs
[06:43]<+camerongray> The XT would have originally come with a Model F - If I get it running I'll try to get one along with the original monitor
[06:44]<@BC_Programming> yeah it would have had the older layout I think, with the F-keys along the left
[06:44]<@BC_Programming> I think control was where caps lock is nowadays
[06:45]<@jacky> my first keyboard: http://www.flickr.com/photos/44337451@N00/4360791722/ No batteries required
[06:45]<+camerongray> BC_Programming: Correct
[06:45]<+camerongray> jacky: nice! :P
[06:45]<+camerongray> Mine still doesn't need batteries - Can't be bothered with wireless stuff :P
[06:45]<@jacky> heh
[06:45]<@BC_Programming> jacky: that had extra numbers so it would last longer, right? so when one wore out you could just use another :P
[06:46]<+camerongray> All I have wireless is the one for my HTPC
[06:46]<@jacky> BC_Programming: of course! :)
[06:46]<+camerongray> But that's a pretty cool one: http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/product/wireless-touch-keyboard-k400r - Really useful!
[06:46]<@jacky> see you all later ....
[06:46]<@jacky>
[06:46]<+camerongray> cya
[06:46] * jacky (the_kink@mib-D6215BBA.slsbmd.east.verizon.net) has left #glitchpc
[06:46]<PCdoc> http://i2.ebayimg.com/07/i/001/3d/30/014b_1.JPG?set_id=8800005007 this is the P-1 mobo I have, but cant identify m,any solts on this :-s
[06:46]<PCdoc> slots *
[06:47]<@BC_Programming> ISA and PCI?
[06:47]<@BC_Programming> looks like it has memory slots for both SD-RAM and EDO RAM
[06:48]<PCdoc> yeah ... thats what i saw in a google image ...
[06:48]<PCdoc> i have that noard in my hand right now :D
[06:48]<PCdoc> broad *
[06:49]<PCdoc> and SIMM socket
[06:49]<PCdoc> its socket 7 mobo
[06:50]<+camerongray> Oh yeah BC_Programming - With the XT can I throw an ISA VGA card into it and hook up a new-ish LCD monitor?
[06:51]<@BC_Programming> uh... I think there are 8-bit ISA cards for VGA yeah
[06:51]<PCdoc> what does an ISA slot fit?? what hardware is fitten in that slot ?
[06:51]<@BC_Programming> those might be tricky to find
[06:51]<@BC_Programming> PCDoc Anything
[06:51]<@BC_Programming> well anything not super modern
[06:51]<@BC_Programming> you aren't going to find ISA Wifi adapters lol
[06:51]<PCdoc> u mean addon cards ?
[06:52]<@BC_Programming> Disk Controllers, Video cards, Sound cards, network...
[06:52]<+camerongray> Ahh, so as long as it's *8-bit* ISA it should be fine
[06:52]<PCdoc> and are they obselete ?
[06:52]<PCdoc> or they still manufacture?
[06:53]<+camerongray> Oh yeah - Not seen one in years! :P
[06:53]<+camerongray> Last machine I saw one in was PIII - And that was just a single slot obviously for old hardware
[06:53]<PCdoc> not also in high-end servers ?
[06:53]<@BC_Programming> ISA was replaced with PCI and VL-Bus in like 1993
[06:55]<PCdoc> i have one of these sticks http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:COAST.jpg
[06:55]<PCdoc> 32MB
[06:56]<PCdoc> lots of scrap dealers visit everyday to my office asking for any scrap hardware. I always thought if I should hand this over to them but m sure they wont even understand what it is ...
[06:56]<PCdoc> do these things have any exhibit value ?
[06:57]<+camerongray> Hmm, probably not but doubt it's worth anything in scrap value
[06:58]<PCdoc> yeah he will obviously think the cache memory is a ram :P
[06:59]<PCdoc> the keyboard u linked camerongray are mostly dveeloped by Amkette, but are not popular in our country
