[12:36]<@jacky> moocher: Hello
[12:36]<moocher> Hello jacky, did you get my message regarding my going away ?
[12:36]<@jacky> No.. sorry
[12:36]<@Calum> jacky: good evening (afternoon) :)
[12:37]<@jacky> Calum: :)
[12:37]<@jacky> Calum: remember when your car was a clunker? we have a real mechanic amongst us now
[12:37]<@Calum> oh?
[12:37]<@jacky> moocher: no.. I didn't sorry. if you want to send it again, you can pm me, or whatever you like
[12:38]<moocher> I have to go into hospital for a few weeks and then I will be at my sons Vila in Spain convalescing for a couple of weeks so I will log out tonight and hopefully catch up with you all on my return.
[12:38]<@jacky> Calum: I think moocher is a Ford man
[12:38]<+camerongray> Hey Calum
[12:38]<@jacky> moocher: no computer available while you recover??
[12:38]<@Calum> hey camerongray
[12:38]<@Calum> jacky: ah right, that's pretty cool
[12:38]<moocher> yes, 45 years at fords in Dagenham
[12:38]<@jacky> moocher: and whatever it is that you are going into the hospital for: I hope it is not too serious, and that you recover speedily
[12:39]<@jacky> moocher: did you get my message? about "bow tie" ? heheheehe
[12:39]<moocher> jacky: the hospital has wifi but they charge a fortune and my son said the 3g signal for my phone does not work in the hospital
[12:40]<@jacky> what about .. ."and then I will be at my sons Vila in Spain convalescing" <<< this time? no computer?
[12:40]<moocher> jacky: the bow tie, very funny, made me laugh
[12:40]<@jacky> moocher: that was me saying, "Fords suck" heheheehe heheehehehe
[12:41]<@jacky> nothing like the whine of a Mouse motor, for me!
[12:41]<@jacky> :)
[12:41]<@jacky> camerongray: here is all you need to know: Fords suck
[12:41]<@jacky> heheheheh
[12:41]<+camerongray> hehe
[12:42]<@jacky> I suppose moocher worked on UK Fords.. I have no idea really
[12:42]<+camerongray> Could be worse, could be MG!
[12:42]<+camerongray> Sorry Calum :P j/k
[12:42]<moocher> i will have internet access while in spain but it may be a problem for me as the operation is on my hands to replace the tendons in my thumbs
[12:42]<@jacky> camerongray: over here, it is kind of a "thing". Either you like Fords, or you like Chevy's
[12:42]<@Calum> oy!
[12:42]<+camerongray> hahaa
[12:42]<+camerongray> moocher: Ouch!
[12:42]<+camerongray> Hope it all goes okay
[12:42]<@jacky> well moocher.. .you just log right on in here, and we will decipher your posts, the ones without spaces, sinc eyou won't be using the space bar!
[12:42]<@jacky> :)
[12:42]<moocher> jacky: yes, fords in Dagenham, Essex UK, was once the biggest ford plant in dagenham
[12:43]<moocher> europe
[12:43]<@jacky> moocher: did you speak of the motors in cubic inches? like we do?
[12:43]<+camerongray> Quite a few UK people here, going to outnumber the US soon :P
[12:43]<moocher> no,ours were all metric (cc)
[12:44]<moocher> 2.8 liter or 2800cc
[12:44]<@jacky> moocher: ok. see... over here there was a very popular Ford small block.. the 302 for many years
[12:44]<@jacky> some folks overlook that Chevy made a 302, but only for three years
[12:44]<@jacky> '67, '68, and '69
[12:44]<@jacky> the original Z-28 motor
[12:44]<@jacky> high performance stuff
[12:45]<@jacky> anyway.. I cant' make a wise crack about 302's with you... since you use cc
[12:45]<@jacky> heh
[12:45]<moocher> the only dealing i had with the American fords was wishing that they produced a Mustang for the european market, still want a stang now
[12:45]<@jacky> <+camerongray> Quite a few UK people here, going to outnumber the US soon :P <<< I've been outnumbered for a long time! heheehe
[12:46]<+camerongray> haha
[12:46]<@jacky> moocher: you ought to see the new ones!
[12:46]<@jacky> they have them up to crazy numbers... like 500 horsepower!
[12:46]<@jacky> factory supercharger
[12:46]<@jacky> computer controlled fuel injection
[12:46]<moocher> oh I have, beautiful pices of craftmanship
[12:46]<@jacky> all tha tpower, and if you drive it right, you still get good gas mileage
[12:46]<@jacky> amazing....
[12:48]<@jacky> moocher: do you know what camerongray was joking about? UK outnumbering the US ?
[12:48]<moocher> the advances in the car industry in the last 10 years have been astounding but if i open a bonnet (hood) today it just looks like a sea of plastic
[12:48]<moocher> jacky: i presume camerongray was referencing to the users here ?
[12:48]<@jacky> moocher: when I look under the hood now a days, I can't even see the valve covers... sigh... all gizmos and electronic stuff
[12:49]<@jacky> moocher: yes. he was. camerongray and Calum are UK
[12:49]<@jacky> many, I forget where they are
[12:49]<moocher> jacky: yep kind of spoils the craftmanship of the engine
[12:49]<@jacky> I am U.S.A.
[12:49]<+camerongray> I'm Edinburgh, Calum is Derby, Mulreay is Manchester
[12:49]<moocher> jacky: thought so (chevey jokes and all)
[12:49]<@jacky> hehehe
[12:50]<moocher> wow, USA and north of the border
[12:50]<moocher> :0
[12:50]<@jacky> and I respect old Mopars.. whew... they were kind of weird... but be careful... you mess with one, and you might just be looking at tail lights... as he leaves you
[12:50]<@jacky> north of the border?
[12:50]<moocher> jacky: scotland and the midlands in the UK
[12:51]<@jacky> oh
[12:51]<@jacky> you were referring to them
[12:51]<@jacky> I gues
[12:51]<@jacky> s
[12:51]<moocher> yep
[12:51]<@jacky> heh
[12:51]<@jacky> camerongray: we did that.. over 200 years ago, over here
[12:51]<@jacky> hheehe
[12:51]<+camerongray> haha
[12:51]<moocher> camerongray: should i mention the football ?? :p
[12:51]<@jacky> Then we invented Chevrolet small block motors
[12:52]<@jacky> :)
[12:52]<+camerongray> hahaha - I was out at the time but could hear a lot of yelling from pubs!
[12:53]<+camerongray> I mean... ahem... I was totally watching the football
[12:53]<@Calum> oh my days....that was the most unnecessarily complicated disassembly ever
[12:53]<+camerongray> Not at all sitting listenting to a talk on "Advances in Speech Synthesis and Voice Cloning" followed by "Advanced Git"
[12:54]<+camerongray> And I felt bad because a guy introduced himself as working in "Big Analytics and Big Data"
[12:54]<+camerongray> It made me feel small for working with "Analytics and Data"
[12:54]<+camerongray> Calum: What is it?
[12:55]<@jacky> Calum: need to borrow the Ram Saw? (from the same company that makes the Ram Hammer)
[12:55]<@Calum> Cassie's new laptop, that Dell L702X
[12:55]<+camerongray> Ahh yeah
[12:56]<+camerongray> Oh yeah, my friend has a 15" one like that
[12:56]<@Calum> jacky: felt like it at one point heh
[12:56]<@Calum> there's just so many screws, and just to get to the CPU you have to remove the screen and the entire housing
[12:56]<+camerongray> HDD failed - Dell were coming for on-site repair but he needed his data off
[12:56]<@Calum> so unnecessary
[12:56]<@jacky> Calum: (see.. you didn't say anything about re-assembly... heheheeh)
[12:56]<+camerongray> We actually couldn't get it open, ended up booting off a live CD to get his stuff (HDD was still somewhat operational but loads of bad sectors)
[12:56]<@Calum> jacky: I'm contemplating not reassembling it...I'll tell her it'll be good experience putting it back together
[12:57]<@Calum> Calum: the HDDs are really easy to get to on this one, as is the RAM...it's just EVERYTHING else
[12:57]<@jacky> heh
[12:57]<@jacky> hahahaha
[12:57]<@jacky> he had a camerongray moment!
[12:57]<+camerongray> Ahh, must be different then
[12:57]<@Calum> camerongray: you're making me do it now...
[12:57]<+camerongray> This one needed the keyboard and palmrest out IIRC
[12:57]<@jacky> it is in the air, over there
[12:57]<@jacky> heheeh
[12:57]<+camerongray> Broke the corner off my debit card trying to get it!
[12:58]<@Calum> I was following a guide which is really good actually, but it says the keyboard was difficult to remove and this one just came out easy as pie, so I'm slightly concerned
[12:58]<+camerongray> Ahh :P
[12:59]<+camerongray> My friend had fun with his - HDD was broken when airport security decided to throw his laptop on the ground :P
[12:59]<+camerongray> Well, it actually stopped booting later but was very slow after
[12:59]<+camerongray> And now has a nice dent in the lid!
[12:59]<@Calum> wow
[12:59]<+camerongray> Said the guy was picking stuff off the XRay and just piling it on my friend's arms
[13:00]<+camerongray> Needless to say a slick metal laptop doesn't like sitting on tops of wobbly piles
[13:00]<+camerongray> Lucky the rest of it survived really
[13:00]<+camerongray> He hates it with a passion though - NVIDIA Optimus! :P
[13:01]<@jacky> was your friend's name HaBeeb Abdul Al-duran ?
[13:01]<@jacky> maybe that is why they did it
[13:01]<@jacky> heh
[13:01]<+camerongray> haha#
[13:02]<+camerongray> Actually, I had great fun at airport security
[13:02]<@Calum> what's wrong with Optimus?
[13:02]<+camerongray> For him it always goes to integrated for games :P
[13:02]<+camerongray> They need to sort their logic - Take of shoes and *belt*, put on xray, go to body scanner (Glass sides btw) then stand with your hands in the air!
[13:03]<+camerongray> I was so close to losing my shorts in the middle of the airport!
[13:03]<@Calum> concerning....I haven't tried gaming on this yet but it seems to switch OK
[13:04]<+camerongray> Ahh cool
[13:04]<+camerongray> His is a couple of years old
[13:04]<+camerongray> Got it right when they became available with Sandy
[13:04]<@Calum> ah ok, this is Sandy
[13:04]<+camerongray> Hmm, should be okay
[13:05]<+camerongray> He usually plays the small independant type games, so that's probably it
[13:05]<@Calum> ah good....there's TIM all around the CPU and GPU, but hardly any on it...I wonder why the temps were high...
[13:06] * @Calum rolls eyes...good work Dell
[13:06]<+camerongray> lol
[13:08]<+camerongray> Should be a nice machine though
[13:08]<@Calum> this CPU has a rectangular die, how odd
[13:08]<@Calum> yeah it's pretty fast
[13:08]<@Calum> I put my Crucial M4 in it and it flies
[13:08]<+camerongray> Oh nice
[13:08]<@Calum> it has 2 HDD bays so I'm leaving one of the stock 500GB HDDs in there too
[13:13]<+camerongray> Ahh cool
[13:13]<+camerongray> I need my laptop to be SSD only due to my carelessness!
[13:13]<@Calum> lol
[13:14]<@Calum> lovely...there's like a removable dust filter, well it's stuck with glue but it can be removed...totally gunked up, that's coming right out
[13:15]<+camerongray> lol
[13:15]<+camerongray> I want to meet the idiot who last owned my projector - Took the filter out!
[13:16]<+camerongray> And now I don't have one so it'll need cleaned a lot
[13:16]<@Calum> ah man
[13:16]<+camerongray> When I got it though picture was a mess, optical block completely clogged!
[13:17]<@Calum> lovely heh
[13:19]<+camerongray> Yeah - Picture is fine now but if you throw it off focus you can see it's still dusty
[13:21]<+camerongray> Then again, it was £52¬
[13:21]<@Calum> heh
[13:22]<@Calum> oh you know what's odd? Apparently one of the boards this laptop can use has 4 RAM slots, the others all have 2
[13:23]<+camerongray> Wow, I've actually never seen a laptop with more than two!
[13:23]<@Calum> yeah I've hardly seen any, mostly ridiculously huge ones
[13:23]<+camerongray> Ahh yeah
[13:24]<@Calum> but appararently the board with a GT540, with 3GB of VRAM, has 4 slots
[13:24]<@Calum> all the others only have 2
[13:24]<@Calum> but there is space for the others, they're just not actually in place
[13:24]<+camerongray> Calum: You need to hang out in CH more, loads of people building PCs at the moment
[13:24]<+camerongray> Then you get the fun ones who have Dimension 2400s and want graphics cards
[13:24]<@Calum> also, the versions with the 3d screen don't have the facility to use the onboard Intel graphics, so no Optimus support
[13:25]<@Calum> I will do, have been really busy this week. I'm building a PC for someone off the CH forum actually
[13:25]<+camerongray> Ahh mice!
[13:25]<+camerongray> Nice*
[13:25]<@Calum> rats
[13:25]<@Calum> ;)
[13:25]<+camerongray> haha
[13:25]<@Calum> yeah he's from tenerife or something and he wanted one, I specced him one up and he PM'd to ask if I would build it for him
[13:26]<+camerongray> Ahh nice, saw that thread
[13:27]<@Calum> yeah, he went with all my recommendations in the end which was nice
[13:27]<@Calum> got the new Samsung Evo SSD
[13:27]<+camerongray> Ahh yeah, some people just don't understand that you kinda know what you are talking about :P
[13:27]<+camerongray> "Buy my mate john says the FX6300 is great"
[13:28]<@Calum> hah exactly
[13:28]<@Calum> like that guy who asked for advice, we advised him, and he got that MSI board, did you see?
[13:28]<+camerongray> Ahh yeah!
[13:28]<+camerongray> Gat_man hasn't done any PSU stuff recently though, so that's a bonus
[13:28]<@Calum> heh
[13:29]<+camerongray> Oh, did I show you his reaction when he copletely flipped over my DA complaints?
[13:29]<@Calum> I think so
[13:29]<+camerongray> Oh yeah, I did
[13:30]<+camerongray> Still kinda pissed at LC's excuse that he can't do anything because it's in PM
[13:30]<@Calum> that was crazy
[13:30]<@Calum> yeah
[13:30]<+camerongray> I bet if I PM'd a guest like that, I'd get banned!
[13:30]<@Calum> indeed
[13:31]<@Calum> I'm watching and hoping he does something on the forum to give me an excuse to crack down though
[13:31]<+camerongray> Yeah
[13:31]<+camerongray> Is he active on the forum?
[13:32]<@Calum> sometimes
[13:32]<+camerongray> Ahh
[13:33]<+camerongray> Making sense?
[13:33]<+camerongray> Your computer is need new kitty wibble
[13:33]<@Calum> heh
[13:33]<+camerongray> And DB's keyboard skills are getting hilarious!
[13:33]<@Calum> he mostly just posts generic safe stuff, to make himself seem like a contributor I guess
[13:33]<+camerongray> Ahh
[13:34]<moocher> camerongray: hi, just had a good talk with jacky and have been given some links to some tools to help me with my little pc project i hope to start once my thumbs have healed, jacky said to check with you to make sure the links are the best tools to use, is it ok to re post the links here for you to verify ?
[13:34]<@jacky> <&Calum> he mostly just posts generic safe stuff, to make himself seem like a contributor I guess <<< Hey! I resemble that !!
[13:34]<@jacky> :)
[13:34]<@Calum> haha
[13:34]<+camerongray> moocher: Sure
[13:35]<+camerongray> Calum is also great for that sort of thing :P
[13:35]<moocher> ok, thanks, http://www.memtest86.com/ was one
[13:35]<+camerongray> yeah, that's a good one
[13:35]<@jacky> camerongray and Calum: it was only a couple links, that happened to come to mind. Add more, if you think of something
[13:35]<moocher> http://www.arcticsilver.com/instructions.htm was the other
[13:35]<@Calum> http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ is a useful link - you can download that, burn it to a disk, and it's got a lot of useful tools on there
[13:36]<@Calum> Memtest is on there, along with hard drive testing tools
[13:36]<+camerongray> Hiren's BootCD is also great: http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd
[13:36]<@jacky> re: memtest .. read about it there.. what you do, is download it, burn it to disk.. (make it a bootable disk) and then boot to it to have it test the mem
[13:36]<@jacky> moocher: perhaps what Calum said is better.. a smorgasbord of tools
[13:37]<moocher> lost me already....how do i make the disc bootable ?
[13:37]<+camerongray> Yeah, memtest is for testing RAM, pretty handy if you are getting strange BSODs
[13:37]<+camerongray> You would download the CD image - It's a .iso file
[13:37]<@jacky> do you guys have a link to explain making bootable disks?
[13:37]<+camerongray> You can then use software such as "ImgBurn" to write it to a CD
[13:37]<@jacky> (I will be idle... getting food)
[13:37]<+camerongray> Doing that the CD will be bootable
[13:37]<@Calum> the download will be an ISO file - if you're running Windows 7, you can just right click it, and click burn as image - that'll do it
[13:37]<+camerongray> Oh yeah, forgot about that :P
[13:37]<@Calum> or, as cameron says, you can use Imgburn to burn it as an image, and that'll also work
[13:38]<moocher> ah, so i do not need any special program to do it
[13:38]<@Calum> nope, makes it much easier than it used to be
[13:39]<moocher> is it worth having both of the discs that you have posted or will one do ?
[13:40]<@Calum> they have a lot of the same tools, I think Hiren's boot disk has more on it but most of it is more useful for rescuing systems, the UBCD I think is simpler to use
[13:40]<+camerongray> yeah
[13:40]<+camerongray> I use Hiren's mostly but UBCD is easier
[13:41]<moocher> ok, thanks, and what is the difference between a boot disc and a normal cd
[13:41]<moocher> sorry for all the questions...
[13:41]<@Calum> no need to apologise! A boot disc is just a CD that you can boot from
[13:41]<@Calum> burning it as an image will let you boot from it
[13:42]<moocher> Calum: sorry, have no idea what boot from means :(
[13:43]<moocher> i understand the boot proces of a computer if that helps
[13:43]<@Calum> basically, normally your PC will boot from its internal drive. Booting from the disk means it will load from the CD instead, so instead of loading Windows, it loads what's on the disk
[13:43]<@Calum> in this case, what's on the disk is a set of tools for doing various things, like testing the memory, the HDD, and so on
[13:43]<moocher> ah, and it will do that automaticly ?
[13:44]<@Calum> It depends on what the boot order is set to, but usually the CD is above the internal HDD - so, just pop the CD in and reboot the PC, and it should start from the CD
[13:46]<moocher> ok, thank you for your time, i will leave you in peace, will not be around for a while due to the operation but my son assures me i will have internet access in spain, will pop in when i am there. Thanks again allof you for your time and sharing your knowledge.
[13:47]<+camerongray> Cool, no problem at all!
[13:47]<@Calum> no problem, we're always happy to help in here! Hope everything goes well!
[13:47]<+camerongray> I can't wait to do more practical PC stuff
[13:47]<moocher> thanks again and good bye for now.
[13:47]<+camerongray> Been revising for exams at the moment - So theoretical it hurts!
[13:47]<+camerongray> cya!
[13:47]<@jacky> moocher: hope all goes well... looking forward to hearing from you that it did

[13:49]<+camerongray> "Propositional logic"
[13:50]<+camerongray> One of those hellish things where you make a tiny mistake in the first line and it completely cascades
[13:51]<@Calum> heh
[13:51]<@jacky> I think you are a terrorist. that looks like Al-Queda stuff
[13:51]<@jacky> he
[13:51]<@jacky> h
[13:53]<@Calum> well, if the NSA weren't watching us before, they sure are now...
[13:53]<+camerongray> hahaaha!
[13:53]<+camerongray> Now I've finished that!
[13:53]<+camerongray> Now to have fun with "Finite State Machines"

[13:55]<@jacky> Calum: a friend's son.. he and his circle of friends... contantaly on the phone or texting... after that mess with the NSA hit the news.. now right in the middle of talking, they will interject words.. "Bomb" "Mosque" ... same for texting
[13:55]<@Calum> and...installed the webcam...wut?
[13:55]<+camerongray> Best feeling ever when you put something together and it somehow works!
[13:56]<@jacky> I hope they and millions like them, drive the NSA crazy

[13:59]<+camerongray> Wow, I really have a hatred for one song at the moment!
[13:59]<+camerongray> It just came on the radio, almost knocked my speaker off the desk in a rush to turn it off!
[13:59]<@Calum> which one?
[14:00]<+camerongray> "Blurred Lines" *shudders*

[14:06]<+camerongray> Arg, I want chippy for lunch
[14:06]<@jacky> chippy?
[14:06]<+camerongray> Fish and chips
[14:06]<+camerongray> Need to find one around here!
[14:06]<@jacky> and your chips are what I call French Fries?
[14:06]<@Calum> indeed
[14:07]<@jacky> what kind of fish though?
[14:07]<+camerongray> Sort of, french fries are thinner - our "Chips" are thick
[14:07]<@Calum> I don't get fish from them to be fair...it's usually cod
[14:07]<+camerongray> Usually Cod or Haddock
[14:07]<@jacky> ( I just had a tomato sandwich for lunch :) mmmmm...)
[14:07]<@Calum> I usually get chips and mushy peas, or chips and cheese
[14:07]<+camerongray> I THINK Haddock is more in Scotland and Cod is more in England
[14:07]<@Calum> I think it is yeah
[14:07]<+camerongray> I've still never had a deep fried mars bar :P
[14:07]<@jacky> not real familiar with either of those.. I know the names, but haven't eaten them

[14:08]<@jacky> ever had deep fried pickles?
[14:08]<@Calum> I'm not a big fan of pickles
[14:08]<@jacky> they are different.. that's for sure
[14:09]<@Calum> I like battered jalapeno peppers with cream cheese though
[14:09]<@jacky> as for my sandwich... I dont' like "store bought" tomatoes... they are prettier, but they have no taste
[14:09]<@jacky> this is mytime of year for tomatoes.. I walk out... spy which one I want, and pick it

[14:09]<+camerongray> Nice!
[14:09]<+camerongray> Not really much of that over here
[14:09]<@Calum> nice, used to grow tomatoes at home, but not for very long
[14:09]<@Calum> we grew quite a bit of stuff at one point
[14:09]<@jacky> Calum: I have four jalapeno plants right now. dozens of jalapenos to pick
[14:09]<@jacky> :)
[14:10]<@Calum> mmmmm
[14:10]<+camerongray> I tried growing strawberries, but squirrels
[14:10]<@jacky> do you pick out the seeds?
[14:10]<@Calum> that's one thing I would like to try, growing chillies
[14:10]<+camerongray> Oh, my uncle does that
[14:10]<@jacky> camerongray: fried squirrel is good too. that takes care of that. heheehehe
[14:10]<+camerongray> lol
[14:10]<+camerongray> But his parrot eats them!
[14:10]<@Calum> they're usually picked out already, I'm talking about when I buy it pre-made, from a takeaway or something
[14:10]<@Calum> hard to find decent jalapeno peppers, whole
[14:10]<+camerongray> I mean, his parrot just loves raw red chillies!
[14:10]<@jacky> Calum: eat a jalapeno with the seeds in. you'll know it
[14:10]<@Calum> heh
[14:11]<@jacky> I dice them, and put them in omelets, or in spaghetti sauce
[14:11]<@jacky> good on a burger, too
[14:11]<+camerongray> Need to see her actually, not seen her in a while
[14:11]<@jacky> I can't take the seeds ... too hot
[14:11]<@jacky> are chillie peppers hotter than jalapeno peppers?
[14:11]<@Calum> yeah I like them on burgers
[14:11]<@Calum> depends on the type of chili or pepper
[14:12]<@jacky> what kind were you talking about?
[14:12]<@Calum> some are, some aren't
[14:12]<@Calum> I was talking about jalapenos there
[14:12]<@jacky> when you said chillies?
[14:12]<@jacky> maybe cam said it...
[14:12]<@Calum> I was talking about maybe growing them, don't know what I would try though because I haven't looked into it much
[14:13]<@jacky> mine look like this: http://www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/PublicHealthFocus/ucm179688.htm
[14:13]<@jacky> if I don't pick them an dlet them get that big
[14:14]<@Calum> that's a bit bigger than I normally get, when I said about getting them battered with cheese
[14:14]<@jacky> I usually don't let them get that big
[14:14]<@jacky> this is how we see them, in some dishes... when the preparer wants to heat things up:

[14:16]<@Calum> can't remember if they do normally have the seeds in though

[14:17]<@jacky> due to seeds
[14:17]<@Calum> fair enough
[14:17]<@jacky> I do like the other pic.. long ways, and just scrape out the seeds, then dice
[14:17]<@jacky> then.. not so hot... just the good flavor
[14:17]<@jacky> :)

[14:32]<@BC_Programming> should be enough... I could either stay up all night and then go to sleep at a proper time or try to inch it back

[14:33]<@BC_Programming> also where I sign the proper forms and give them my criminal record check
[14:34]<@BC_Programming> going to be there all day, so presumably until 5PM
[14:34]<@jacky> My thought/advice: I agree with you, in the actual time of day you choose.. but beyond that: be consistent, no matter what time of day you choose. Start at "starting time" and quit at quitting time. It sets the right tone for one's mind.

[14:36]<@jacky> exactly what will be your job? do you know yet? are you a code de-bugger?
[14:36]<@jacky> or do you code from scratch?
[14:36]<@jacky> or ... ?
[14:36]<@BC_Programming> All I really know is it will involve C#
[14:36]<@jacky> ok on showing off. :)
[14:37]<@jacky> fair 'nuff
[14:37]<@BC_Programming> but then apparently I need to install Netbeans, which is Java, so I really have no idea anymore

[14:38]<@BC_Programming> I'm one of them
[14:38]<@jacky> In all of Canada, there are 12 people
[14:38]<@jacky> heheheeh
[14:38]<@jacky> I get it
[14:38]<@jacky> well.. .congrats
[14:38]<@jacky> on both C# and the new job
[14:38]<@jacky> I just hope that you like it... that it all goes well
[14:39]<@BC_Programming> just remember if you ever have to say it out loud, it's C-Sharp
[14:39]<@BC_Programming> not "C-Pound" or "C-Hash"
[14:39]<@jacky> ouch
[14:39]<@jacky> heh

[14:39]<@jacky> LIE-nucks?
[14:39]<@jacky> or lin-ux
[14:39]<+camerongray> lin-ux

[14:41]<@jacky> no "g"

[15:31]<+camerongray> http://linitx.com/product/mikrotik-routerboard-2011uas2hndin-routeros-level-5-with-indoor-case-and-uk-psu/13625
[15:31]<+camerongray> Very complex but it works as a cable router out of the box - COnnect modem to port 1
[15:32]<jamer> !help
[15:32]<+camerongray> Setting a WPA key is a bit tricky, just need to know where to look
[15:32]<baconbuttie> camerongray: coll, well you are here to help, right ? :D
[15:32]<+camerongray> haha yeah
[15:33]<baconbuttie> generally ok with a manual but you never know
[15:33]<+camerongray> I was also really surprised with their forum - When I first got it they helped me, I was expecting "You are an idiot for not knowing this"
[15:33]<+camerongray> Er... what manual... :P
[15:33]<jamer> i think i know how lostcoast gets what was said in the chat ...
[15:33]<@BC_Programming> google?
[15:33]<baconbuttie> camerongray: no manual ???
[15:33]<+camerongray> It came with leavelets for courses you can go on :P
[15:33]<+camerongray> leaflets*
[15:34]<jamer> BC_Programming chanbot
[15:34]<baconbuttie> ooo, hours of fun
[15:34]<jamer> not the logs ... the rerun
[15:34]<@BC_Programming> jamer:so google then
[15:35]<baconbuttie> camerongray: but once you have the GUI sorted is it pretty much stright forward ?
[15:35]<+camerongray> Yeah, just a lot of options you need to look past
[15:36]<+camerongray> Also has "winbox" that's a really nice windows client for it
[15:36]<+camerongray> And it can connect via MAC address so works even if you do something to break it getting an IP
[15:36]<baconbuttie> clever
[15:36]<+camerongray> Then there's serial for if you really break it
[15:36]<baconbuttie> lol, meaning ???
[15:37]<baconbuttie> you think i will try to kill it lol
[15:37]<baconbuttie> :D
[15:37]<+camerongray> lol!
[15:37]<baconbuttie> looks a nice bit of kit for the money
[15:37]<+camerongray> Trying to convince the computing society to get a MikroTik one - Running on a donated Cisco at the moment - It's great except for the fact we have to keep an old laptop that has a serial port in order to configure it!
[15:37]<+camerongray> Yeah, they are so cheap for what you get
[15:37]<+camerongray> Only complaint is the lack of 5GHz
[15:38]<baconbuttie> well i dont have any 5ghz stuff anyway so not worried about that
[15:38]<+camerongray> And boy do you learn a lot about networking/routers when playing with it
[15:38]<baconbuttie> thats what i want
[15:38]<jamer> O.o my laptop is old then XD i have a serial port on my laptop
[15:38]<+camerongray> lol
[15:39]<+camerongray> It also has really good configuration backup/restore which comes in useful
[15:39]<+camerongray> Or you can dump your entire config to a text file so you can share it on the forum if you need help
[15:39]<baconbuttie> jamer: i just found an old toshiba satellite 4000cdt in my attic
[15:39]<baconbuttie> camerongray: thats good to know
[15:40]<jamer> baconbuttie i have old stuff XD
[15:40]<baconbuttie> old stuff is cool, ask my wife :P
[15:40]<@BC_Programming> I almost had a wifi cardbus working with my 440CDX
[15:41]<@BC_Programming> but it was not to be
[15:41]<baconbuttie> :(
[15:41]<jamer> ive got an old satellite 115cs baconbuttie XD
[15:42]<+camerongray> Router sitting at 19 days uptime - Not a hitch
[15:42]<baconbuttie> jamer: :O that was the clock work one wasn't it ?
[15:42]<+camerongray> And that was when we got the broadband in
[15:42]<baconbuttie> camerongray: sweet
[15:42]<+camerongray> And it does cool things like this: http://flat.camerongray.me:8080/graphs/
[15:43]<jamer> baconbuttie http://server88-208-222-62.live-servers.net/picv2/Toshiba/ToshibaSatellite-115CSdetail.jpg
[15:43]<baconbuttie> camerongray: nice, does it allow to allocate bandwith ?
[15:43]<baconbuttie> jamer: coooool
[15:43]<+camerongray> You can rate limit interfaces yeah
[15:44]<+camerongray> Not sure about bandwidth caps though
[15:44]<jamer> its old ... XD
[15:44]<baconbuttie> but you love it
[15:44]<+camerongray> Oh... Just looked at my router - In those 19 days we have uploaded 12gb and downloaded 200.1gb :P
[15:44]<jamer> i do XD
[15:45]<baconbuttie> camerongray: that all, slackers :P
[15:45]<+camerongray> hahaha
[15:45]<jamer> camerongray can probably see if people try and login XD
[15:45]<+camerongray> Yep!

[15:46]<+camerongray> Then thanks to ebay all my network stuff runs off a UPS
[15:47]<+camerongray> Who tried to FTP in? :P
