[08:11]<+camerongray> hey ChanbotVII
[08:11]<+camerongray> I don't even
[08:11]<+camerongray> Hey Craig
[08:12]<+Craig> .... :P
[08:12]<+Craig> How goes it?
[08:12]<+camerongray> Good thanks
[08:12]<+Craig> I am helping my friend StockoGlaws build his new computer today
[08:12]<+camerongray> Trying to make some code work :P - Sitting in the office trying not to violently shake my laptop
[08:12]<+camerongray> I have found myself doing that before then realising there are other people here :P
[08:13]<+camerongray> Not sure if it isn't working or if it's taking a while
[08:13]<+camerongray> BAHAHA!
[08:15]<+camerongray> Woo, it sort of works!
[08:16]<+camerongray> The danger is, if it gets stuck in an infite loop it can just sitting pulling data from Google Analytics all night
[08:16]<+Craig> :P
[08:16]<+camerongray> Did it before, inserted 3,500,000 rows into the database, server wasn't happy :P
[08:17]<+camerongray> Took around 30mins to truncate the table!
[08:17]<+camerongray> It's running on a little Poweredge t105 with a dual-core Opteron and 2gb RAM so doesn't like it when you do that!
[08:19]<+camerongray> And since it also does email, DNS and samba for the office, it ain't good if I kill it :P
[08:23]<+camerongray> It worked! - http://wiki.eth0.nl/images/9/9e/Great_success.jpg
[08:26]<+camerongray> Figured out why it takes so long - Putting the data I'm pulling into text files totals over 300mb on disk!
[08:26]<+camerongray> I mean, it's only a year worth of analytics data :P
[08:50]<+camerongray> !w Edinburgh, UK
[08:51]<+camerongray> it cannot be 15c, I'm dying of heat!
[08:51]<+camerongray> and yesterday I got caught in a hail storm, gotta love Scottish weather!
[08:52]<@jacky> !fc edinburgh uk
[08:53]<@jacky> 1 rain, 2 cloudy, 1 clear
[08:53]<@jacky> "gotta love Scottish weather!"
[08:53]<@jacky> heh
[08:53]<+camerongray> lol
[08:53]<@jacky> !w crapo
[08:53]<Transfusion> http://www.<censored>.com/?where=Kowloon%2c+Hong+Kong&unit=c
[08:53]<+camerongray> Last year we had a BBQ, next week there was 1ft of snow!
[08:54]<@jacky> ahhhhhhh.... nice
[08:54]<+camerongray> oof!
[08:54]<@jacky> what's that link?
[08:54]<@jacky> !fc crapo
[08:54]<Transfusion> A more explicit.. whoops >_> wrong chan
[08:54]<Transfusion> way to display the weather xD
[08:54]<+camerongray> Lola
[08:54]<Transfusion> i thought this was another chan, honestly, sorz :S which also has a similar weather bot
[08:54]<Transfusion> The kinks - My lola ;)
[08:55]<+camerongray> I'm on the bus, its like a greenhouse!
[08:56]<+camerongray> oh great, stopped right in direct sunlight!
[08:56] * Tux2 (Tux2@mib-11A476F3.hlrn.qwest.net) Quit (Ping timeout)
[08:56]<Transfusion> yikes....
[08:56]<@jacky> camerongray is a vampire... he's melting
[08:56]<+camerongray> Lol!
[08:56]<+camerongray> we aren't geared up for heat here :P
[08:57]<@jacky> stick with BC then. He has polar bears in his back yard.
[08:57]<+camerongray> Lola!
[08:57]<+camerongray> grr, stupid phone
[08:58]<@jacky> I thought they called them "smart phones"
[08:58]<+camerongray> who makes a phone that auto corrects lol...
[08:58]<+camerongray> hahha!
[08:58]<+camerongray> It does IRC though :P
[08:58]<@jacky> and EVERYTHING on irc is smart... .... right?
[08:59]<+camerongray> pretty cool to think that on my whole journey home I have a fast enough network connection to do this while listening to internet radio
[08:59]<@jacky> how did we ever LIVE, in the stone age (1970's) ???!!!???
[08:59]<+camerongray> Usually at least 8mbps!
[08:59]<+camerongray> lol!
[09:00]<+camerongray> pretty sure its about to overheat though, the bit under the CPU is too hot to touch!
[09:00]<@jacky> overheat? ?? in Scotland??
[09:01]<@jacky> just put it outdoors
[09:01]<@jacky> heh
[09:01]<+camerongray> lol, but the weather today is boiling...
[09:01]<+Craig> !w Calgary, AB
[09:01]<@jacky> chilly there in Calgary too
[09:01]<+Craig> Yeah
[09:01]<@jacky> at least here, it feels like spring temps... FINALLY
[09:02]<+camerongray> I wouldnt mind Craig's weather today!
[09:02]<+Craig> :P
[09:03]<+camerongray> just went past a park, BBQs are out in force
[09:03]<+camerongray> happens every time the sun comes out here!
[09:04]<@jacky> visit them. eat their stuff
[09:04]<@jacky> heh
[09:05]<+camerongray> hahaha, we had one a couple of weeks ago, dog came over and just sat with us :P
[09:05]<+camerongray> then it ran off with a fork
[09:06]<@jacky> in the Philippines, they'd eat the dog
[09:06]<+camerongray> hahaha
[09:06]<@jacky> a friend was just telling me recently... it happened to him
[09:06]<+camerongray> you could tell it wanted the food, would do everything you told it
[09:06]<@jacky> the people down the road had a party when his dog died
[09:06]<@jacky> they ate it
[09:07]<+camerongray> wow!
[09:07]<@jacky> different culture...
[09:07]<@jacky> his father was a missionary or something... he was there as a kid
[09:07]<+camerongray> ahh
[09:07]<@jacky> did you ever notice though... if you have something in your hand that smells good to the dog
[09:07]<@jacky> that you can move your hand around
[09:08]<@jacky> and the dog's nose will track it
[09:08]<+camerongray> lol, yeah
[09:08]<@jacky> and no matter how the dog moves, it is always getting its nose closer
[09:08]<@jacky> heheeheh
[09:08]<@jacky> it WANTS that tid bit
[09:08]<+camerongray> it was so sweet
[09:08]<+camerongray> didn't take anything though apart from the fork
[09:09]<+camerongray> it thought it was great fun being chased around
[09:09]<@jacky> yep. dogs are usually happy. that is why they are known as "man's best friend"
[09:09]<@jacky> no other animal like them
[09:09]<+camerongray> yeah
[09:10]<+camerongray> cats tend to tolerate people
[09:10]<@jacky> cats are just cats. I have some now. You either accept them as they are, or hate them
[09:10]<@jacky> dont' try to make them into something else
[09:10]<@jacky> heh
[09:11]<@jacky> they are INDEPENDENT, whereas a dog is DEPENDENT
[09:11]<+camerongray> lol, I like cats too, can't not like them in informatics or you get killed
[09:11]<@jacky> a cat MAY do something, every day..... then one day NOT do it... for no reason... just because it is a cat
[09:11]<+camerongray> Lola
[09:11]<@jacky> what is informatics?
[09:12]<+camerongray> the subject I study, computer science basically
[09:12]<@jacky> and how is that related to cats?
[09:12]<+camerongray> not sure, everyone loves them
[09:13]<@jacky> ok
[09:13]<@jacky> one of mine has 5 kittens
[09:13]<@jacky> want some?
[09:13]<@jacky> hehe
[09:13]<+camerongray> lol
[09:14]<+camerongray> someone stuck a picture of a cat to the ceiling in the lab and later they replaced the workstation under it, new one has a hostname of "ceilingcat"
[09:14]<+camerongray> cielingcat.inf.ed.ac.uk :P
[09:15]<+camerongray> Good to see the it people have a sense of humour
[09:15]<@jacky> bring in a little box with some dirt in it. put it under a computer desk. name that station "Cat Sh*t"
[09:15]<+camerongray> hahahah:
[10:26]<+camerongray> I am so happy :D
[10:26]<+camerongray> Just connected a new screen to the ?20 laptop, and it works :D
[10:28]<+camerongray> Was worried I'd buy one and it wouldn't work but by some miracle the one from my ThinkPad x220 has the same connector and works
[10:28]<+camerongray> Still need to buy one though since the screen I'm using is 12.5" and the laptop is 15.4" :P
[10:30]<@jacky> cool
[10:30]<@jacky>
[10:30]<@jacky> see you all later ...

[11:01]<+Craig> Hey Cameron, are you near Gloucester>?
[11:02]<@Mulreay> No if he's at home
[11:32]<+camerongray> hey Craig and nowhere near :P
[11:32]<+camerongray> why? :P
[11:33]<@Calum> I'm about half as far, or twice as close, lol
[11:35]<+Craig> I was just asking since thats where StockoGlaws is, and I am helping him build a computer
[11:36]<+Craig> Nice Calum, where are you?
[11:36]<@Calum> Derby, 102 miles away - Cameron is actually 340 miles away from Gloucester, wow
[11:38]<+Craig> Ahhh
[11:38]<+Craig> Thats a lot closer than I. :P
[11:38]<@Calum> heh, true
[12:15]<+camerongray> Ahh, I think last time you thought it was something like Glasgow
[12:19]<@Calum> Oh, Cameron, ordered a new phone contract yesterday
[12:19]<+camerongray> Calum: Good to see you helping in CH, put them in their place :P
[12:19]<+camerongray> Oh?
[12:19]<@Calum> Hah, I'm trying :P yeah, it's nothing too special, was going for a Nexus 4 but O2 declined me
[12:20]<@Calum> Not too bothered about the phone to be honest, happy with my Desire Z, but it works out better to get an expensive phone and sell it to offset the cost if I can't get to grips with it
[12:20]<@Calum> So I got the Optimus 4X, unlimited data, unlimited texts, 500 mins
[12:20]<+camerongray> Ahh, nice!
[12:21]<+camerongray> I used to use you as reasoning "I wouldn't recommend that part, try this..." "lostcoast:Why, they are great" or "db: We have thousands of them" Then I can go "Calum, Remember him? warned me against them"
[12:21]<@Calum> ?20 a month which isn't too bad either, paying that right now for 250mb/unltd texts/200 mins which is terrible hah
[12:21]<@Calum> Haha, really?
[12:21]<+camerongray> Yeah, MSI stuff.etc
[12:21]<+camerongray> And thermaltake
[12:21]<@Calum> Ah, people recommending MSI, a sure sign they know nothing
[12:22]<@Calum> Thermaltake, the pioneer of quality cases...NOT
[12:22]<+camerongray> I'd only ever use MSI in super cheap builds
[12:22]<@Calum> Yeah, in super cheap stuff it's fair enough
[12:22]<+camerongray> Although recently I've been using Biostar and they have actually been great
[12:22]<@Calum> I was about to say, I would go for Biostar if available though
[12:23]<@Calum> Just because they're often the same kind of price
[12:23]<+camerongray> That was the other thing, mention Biostar "Oh, they are great if you want it to blow up"
[12:23]<@Calum> If you try to push it, sure. If you just use an MSI board, it's just as likely to blow up as not to
[12:23]<+camerongray> Yeah, this is talking celeron - i3 level
[12:24]<@Calum> exactly, at that level you can't push it anyway because the CPUs are locked
[12:24]<@Calum> Biostar's main issue is people buying their cheap boards and overclocking AMD CPUs on them, but that's not what they're designed for
[12:24]<@Calum> MSI's issue is similar, but they die even without overclocking because they lie about the VRM rating
[12:24]<+camerongray> Yeah
[12:25]<+camerongray> I have this in my HTPC: http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=617
[12:25]<+camerongray> Works amazinly for ?60
[12:25]<@Calum> Such a catchy name, too, the NM70I-847
[12:25]<+camerongray> And fitted 2 of these: http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=593
[12:25]<+camerongray> Dirt cheap but works really well
[12:25]<@Calum> not bad at all
[12:26]<+camerongray> Yeah, I think it's like ?35 or something
[12:26]<+camerongray> And has USB 3.0
[12:26]<@Calum> can't really argue with that
[12:26]<+camerongray> Yeah
[12:26]<+camerongray> You need to hang around for the speccing a PC times :P
[12:26]<@Calum> heh, I will try to
[12:26]<+camerongray> "For gaming you want an i7 or AMD FX"
[12:27]<+camerongray> "Intel HD graphics are terrible"
[12:27]<+camerongray> "Oh, that'll need at least 850w"
[12:27]<@Calum> i7 for gaming?
[12:27]<+camerongray> lol
[12:27]<@Calum> that all sounds familiar though
[12:27]<+camerongray> And the "SSDs are pointless"
[12:27]<@Calum> really??
[12:28]<+camerongray> Yep, had that
[12:28]<@Calum> who even thinks that? What thought process do they go through? "ah, something thousands of times faster than a HDD, that's sueless"
[12:28]<@Calum> *useless even
[12:28]<+camerongray> And missing simple diagnostic stuff, I don't even do much in the way of repairs but jumping to "You need a new board" without even trying a CMOS reset or complete power drain is daft
[12:28]<@Calum> indeed
[12:29]<+camerongray> I wonder if they will end up liking or hating you :P
[12:29]<@Calum> I tend to think the latter
[12:29]<@Calum> Most people don't like being constantly corrected
[12:29]<+camerongray> Yeah
[12:30]<+camerongray> That's why lots of them hate me
[12:30]<@Calum> I do sort of wish I'd never given up on the chat and had kept my op status, then it might not be in this state
[12:30]<@Calum> that sounds big headed
[12:30]<+camerongray> Yeah
[12:30]<+camerongray> LIke Quantos, I'm on good terms with him now but in April he sent me this PM on the forum : "I haven't seen anyone whine this much about anything since elementary school.
[12:30]<+camerongray> You ingratiating little *censored* hound. You need to grow up and grow a pair."
[12:30]<+camerongray> Which is funny since I reported it to Nathan :P
[12:30]<@Calum> That's crazy
[12:31]<+camerongray> Yeah
[12:31]<@Calum> I barely remember Quantos to be honest, not sure if he was even around last time I was active...
[12:31]<+camerongray> Seems like a nice guy apart from that
[12:31]<@Calum> heh
[12:31]<+camerongray> I take it you saw the thread when I got banned?
[12:31]<@Calum> I saw him do the pufferfish thing you mentioned earlier though, that was funny
[12:31]<@Calum> Hah yeah, banned for helping!
[12:32]<+camerongray> That's a good word for it :P
[12:32]<@Calum> It really tickled me heh, I intend to use it as often as possible, preferably in the ch channel after they do it
[12:32]<+camerongray> hahaha!
[12:33]<@Calum> the forum modding is a bit slack too, lots of spam not being dealt with too quickly
[12:33]<+camerongray> Yeah
[12:33]<+camerongray> It does show their personalities when they are questioned - Be interesting to see them in real life
[12:33]<@Calum> It would indeed
[12:34]<+camerongray> I remember a few years ago (back when you were around) we were allowed to use Teamviewer]
[12:35]<@Calum> I don't remember that but maybe I just never did it myself
[12:36]<+camerongray> From nathan himself in PM: "It's fine to assist users with TeamViewer or any of the other remote assist programs mentioned on the below link as long as all other options have been tried and the user is aware that the user accessing their computer is not employed by Computer Hope, just a volunteer at Computer Hope."
[12:36]<@Calum> I see
[12:36]<+camerongray> Noone seems to think of Nathan now
[12:37]<@Calum> Is he around any more than he used to be?
[12:37]<+camerongray> I remember telling an op that nathan said something and they were like "If it isn't from lostcoast, I don't care"
[12:37]<@Calum> wow
[12:37]<@Calum> see, I don't actually remember how LC got into the chat in the first place
[12:37]<@Calum> it's all kind of blurred
[12:37]<+camerongray> At least lostcoast did actually listen to me and now allows small bits of help with programming when noone else needs help
[12:38]<@Calum> I feel old, I remember the original chat, before it was IRC based...
[12:39]<+camerongray> Oh wow, that would be way before me
[12:40]<@Calum> That was when a lot of the old mods were still around, haven't seen them for years though
[12:40]<+camerongray> I miss GlitchPC though, it was small but everyone was friendly :P
[12:40]<@Calum> until someone went crazy....
[12:40]<+camerongray> Yeah :(
[12:40]<+camerongray> Have you heard from Steve at all?
[12:40]<@Calum> Nope, not since he sent me those rambling messages that I copied to you
[12:41]<@Calum> Haven't spoke to him since, nor have I been back to the forum
[12:41]<+camerongray> About the domain ownership?
[12:41]<@Calum> hmm, the domain I had expired not that long ago actually, but I don't think he was using it...something like glitchpcforums.com, I can't remember. Didn't he get back the domain he wanted, and was using that?
[12:42]<+camerongray> http://glitchpc.net/ now
[12:42]<+camerongray> I dunno, I kinda miss him :P
[12:42]<@Calum> just checked and I remember I transferred that to him, I had glitchpc.co.uk which expired start of March
[12:42]<+camerongray> Would be nice to chat
[12:43]<@Calum> I guess so...I just don't think I would know where I stood with him to be honest, too many U-turns and weird things going on for me
[12:43]<+camerongray> Yeah
[12:43]<+camerongray> Hmm, he's unbanned me from the forum
[12:44]<+camerongray> I could add him as a friend on FB, hmm
[12:44]<@Calum> Wow....that place is dead....
[12:44]<+camerongray> Yeah, it would just be nice to have him back here and start fresh
[12:45]<@Calum> by the way, this is slightly unrelated but I'm now an admin on this channel? That's new...lol
[12:45]<+camerongray> Oh nice!
[12:46]<@Calum> Normally when I come back and get registered jacky sets me up as an op, but this time I have a key thing which says admin (on the webclient)
[12:46]<+camerongray> Yeah, you are
[12:46]<@Calum> Not that it makes a great deal of difference heh
[12:46]<+camerongray> lol
[12:47]<@Calum> Just noticed it last time I was on. Does jacky still come on here?
[12:47]<+camerongray> BC_Programming: What did I say about making Calum an admin, you know we can't trust him!
[12:47]<+camerongray> oops :P
[12:47]<+camerongray> jk
[12:47]<@Calum> uh-oh
[12:47]<+camerongray> Yeah, jacky is still alive and well
[12:47]<+camerongray> Wow, that sounded a bit like he was dying :P
[12:47]<@Calum> haha
[12:47]<+camerongray> Yeah, he was here earlier
[12:48]<@Calum> that's cool, was just wondering because I've seen everybody else that used to be ehre heh, when it's normally me and you that manage to miss each other
[12:48]<+camerongray> yeah :P
[12:48]<+camerongray> Which is odd since we are in the same timezone
[12:48]<@Calum> hah I know right
[12:49]<+camerongray> I really want to talk to steve :P - So tempted to add him on Facebook
[12:49]<+camerongray> I remember his coffee breaks
[12:49]<@Calum> just go for it if you want to
[12:50]<@Calum> I'm sure he'll be happy to chat, and that wasn't meant to sound saracastic
[12:50]<+camerongray> lol, yeah
[12:50]<@Calum> heh, he did love his coffee
[12:50]<+camerongray> Can't hurt
[12:50]<+camerongray> Not even to chat, just to almost have contact with him
[12:50]<@Calum> yeah, I understand
[12:51]<+camerongray> Woop, keyboard ordered, x220 reassembled :D
[12:51]<@Calum> cool
[12:51]<+camerongray> Will see if the new keyboard works, if it does I'll get the LCD, bezel, HDD and more RAM
[12:51]<+camerongray> Even if it doesn't there's easily ?20 of parts there
[12:51]<@Calum> what kind of RAM does it take, is it DDR2?
[12:51]<+camerongray> Yeah
[12:52]<@Calum> How much do you need?
[12:52]<+camerongray> Probably 2gb, has 1
[12:52]<+camerongray> Battery still does an hour under AIDA
[12:52]<@Calum> ah, was gonna say I have a huge bag full of 512MB modules, and I'll have a 1GB spare probably in a few weeks
[12:52]<+camerongray> AIDA stress test*
[12:52]<@Calum> not bad then
[12:52]<+camerongray> Ahh, I really should have spare RAM, not sure what I do to it all!
[12:53]<+camerongray> Seems like I should have a lot more spares than I do
[12:53]<@Calum> I bought this bag from some guy for like ?7, there's literally about 20 sticks in there
[12:53]<+camerongray> nice!
[12:53]<@Calum> He said it was untested but it all works fine
[12:53]<+camerongray> Yeah, untested stuff can be good
[12:53]<@Calum> I have far too many spare parts, you should buy them!
[12:53]<+camerongray> lol!
[12:53]<+camerongray> Got an Advent 7302 untested for ?10.50, worked fien
[12:53]<+camerongray> fine*
[12:53]<@Calum> do you normally get them off the bay?
[12:54]<+camerongray> With an HDD and 1gb more RAM (2gb total) sold it for like ?85
[12:54]<+camerongray> yeah
[12:54]<@Calum> bid or buy it now?
[12:54]<+camerongray> bid
[12:54]<+camerongray> Literally go to laptops section, max price ?10, time ending soonest
[12:54]<@Calum> see I'm too impatient to bid on stuff hah, otherwise I would do that
[12:54]<@Calum> but then I would get more grief from the gf I suppose
[12:54]<+camerongray> Yeah
[12:54]<+camerongray> hahaha yeah
[12:55]<@Calum> I actually do need to clear out some rubbish tomorrow while she's at work
[12:55]<@Calum> otherwise I will be in for a beating
[12:55]<@Calum> so if you want any cables, a random laptop PSU, or some other bits, shout up before it goes in the bin
[12:55]<+camerongray> There's a guy like that at work, *Posts on facebook* "Oops, won a car I forgot to bid on"
[12:55]<+camerongray> Will do
[12:55]<@Calum> haha
[12:55]<@Calum> I bid on a car for a laugh, almost won it
[12:55]<+camerongray> I assume you saw the taxidermied squirrels he bought?
[12:56]<@Calum> yeah lol thatw as random
[12:56]<+camerongray> Yep, and they are still in the office!
[12:56]<@Calum> lol
[12:56]<+camerongray> One guy brings his dog in sometimes, need to move them!
[12:57]<+camerongray> He was sitting in the office "Can anyone tell me why I don't need a zippo" - We reel off huge lists of reasons like "You don't smoke" and "You already have 3 on your desk"
[12:57]<+camerongray> few mins later, "got it"
[12:57]<@Calum> haha
[12:57]<@Calum> sounds so familiar
[12:57]<+camerongray> Ebay mobile is the worst invention
[12:57]<+camerongray> Works in the pub :P
[12:57]<@Calum> I have a 160GB and a 64GB SSD I'm currently hiding
[12:57]<+camerongray> hahah!
[12:57]<@Calum> I refuse to allow myself Ebay mobile or the app
[12:58]<@Calum> yeah the 160-GB is in my laptop's optical bay
[12:58]<@Calum> both of them will go in my new PC< not because I want them there, but so that they're out of sight
[12:58]<+camerongray> Can't wait till I get my flat, then there won't be any explaining to my mum why there's another laptop being delivered
[12:58]<+camerongray> hahaa!
[12:59]<@Calum> See my parents didn't really mind all that, plus I still have all my stuff delivered there anyway
[12:59]<@Calum> Cassie thought it was funny at first but recently patience has been wearing thin
[12:59]<+camerongray> For my mum it's the screens I have - "Why do you have <random number between 3 and 5> screens on"
[12:59]<+camerongray> hahaah!
[12:59]<@Calum> that was one thing my mum couldn't understand actually when I lived at home
[12:59]<+camerongray> lol, same
[12:59]<@Calum> the need for screens larger than 17", or multiple screens
[13:00]<@Calum> when I brought home a cheap 24" for them, she changed her mind, and practically cried when I borrowed it for a month and gave them my 19"
[13:00]<+camerongray> Yesterday she came in "How can you study while watching TV" - Because my night time entertainment is watching an AIDA stress test on TV
[13:00]<@Calum> haha
[13:00]<@Calum> they were pretty impressed though when I got my Korean 27"
[13:00]<+camerongray> Ahh yeah
[13:01]<+camerongray> My parents go on about the cost of electricity
[13:01]<@Calum> explained that it was quad HD, and basically a ?700 monitor for ?200, and they liked that.
[13:01]<@Calum> that was a sore topic...
[13:01]<+camerongray> Got my new router and mentioned how fancy it was - Instantly go on about the electricity
[13:01]<+camerongray> This was replacing a separate switch and Linksys WRT so likely uses less
[13:01]<@Calum> yeah
[13:02]<@Calum> parents see electricity different to everyone else
[13:02]<+camerongray> Hopefully power in the flat won't be too much
[13:02]<@Calum> power for me is expensive but that's because we have those annoying storage heaters that run on electricity
[13:02]<@Calum> but on the plus side, night time electricity is pretty cheap
[13:02]<+camerongray> Ahh yeah, we looked at a flat with them
[13:02]<+camerongray> BUt the one we have is gas
[13:03]<@Calum> should be much cheaper
[13:03]<+camerongray> Yeah
[13:03]<@Calum> our bill was disastrous over the winter
[13:03]<+camerongray> My mum also doesn't like my "piles" - Stuff to go in the cupboards but only made it to the door
[13:03]<@Calum> haha
[13:04]<@Calum> I have an ever expanding corner for "stuff"
[13:04]<+camerongray> Interesting stuff in them
[13:04]<@Calum> oh?
[13:05]<+camerongray> To my right, 2 monitors, a pair of broken optical drives, dial up modem, 160gb IDE HDD
[13:05]<+camerongray> Hmm what else
[13:06]<+camerongray> Box of kilt stuff, some optical drive I can only see the back of, set of powerline networking stuff, PS2 eyetoy (Using as a webcam), internam memory card reader modded to work externally, a cake of CD-rs and a cake of DVD-Rs
[13:06]<+camerongray> And a bottle of carbonated water
[13:06]<@Calum> bleh, people drink that?
[13:06]<+camerongray> lol
[13:08]<+camerongray> And to my left - Empty box, keyboard, Sempron 2400+ PC, 250w PSU, 4 120mm fans (I was using them to cool the room down), extension cord, wireless acceess point (I think as I can see the adapter for it), soldering iron, several laptop chargers, screwdrivers, mice, a netgear router, and a couple of empty bottles of irn Bru :P
[13:08]<+camerongray> Yeah... :P
[13:08]<@Calum> At least next month when I do my build things should be a lot neater here
[13:08]<+camerongray> Ahh yeah
[13:08]<@Calum> hah, yeah sounds a little cluttered, and very familiar
[13:08]<+camerongray> When I move out I'll get rid of a lot of stuff
[13:08]<@Calum> I did that, but then I brought all my junk home from the shop when I closed it at Christmas too
[13:08]<+camerongray> Oh and a laptop in the pile
[13:09]<+camerongray> ahh :P
[13:09]<+camerongray> HP Compaq nx7300 - I just use it as a testing machine
[13:09]<@Calum> I'm gonna go through everything tomorrow afternoon and I'll let you know what I'm getting rid of, if there's anything you want you can have it for the cost of postage, otherwise it'll go in the bin tomorrow evening
[13:10]<+camerongray> Cool!
[13:10]<@Calum> there might be something useful in there, you never know
[13:10]<+camerongray> If I'm not chatting, send me a PM - I'll always pick them up
[13:10]<@Calum> will do
[13:10]<@Calum> brb just a second, need to put some washing out
[13:15]<+camerongray> bbl, going out, friend's birthday
[13:20]<@Calum> cool, have a good night :)
[13:21]<+camerongray> Aaand I can't tell the time :P
[13:21]<@Mulreay> hey guys
[13:21]<+camerongray> Hey Mulreay
[13:23]<@Calum> hey Mulreay, how goes it?
[13:25]<@Mulreay> Good Calum you?
[13:26]<@Calum> Pretty good thanks :)
[13:29]<@Mulreay> Well the two swords I bought arrived today... first reaction was 'oh dear, why did I buy these?' then after about 1hr of me stabbing imaginary enemies 'Best purchase ever!'
[13:29]<+Craig> Bahahahahah
[13:30]<@Calum> haha, I remember my uncle bought himself a sword, and I always imagined him doing the same
[13:30]<@Mulreay> :)
[13:31]<+camerongray> hahaha
[13:31]<+camerongray> Hmm, I wonder why we don't have swords in the office
[13:31]<+camerongray> We have had an inflatable horse costume
[13:31]<@Mulreay> heh
[13:32]<+camerongray> At one point the Managing Director was away so ordered loads of PC parts to the office, he came back to find a fully decorated christmas tree with all his stuff underneath
[13:32]<@Calum> haha
[13:32]<@Calum> Can I come and work with you guys?
[13:32]<+camerongray> hahaha
[13:33]<+camerongray> One of the guys has a bike tooty horn thing that he randomly blasts when something happens, two of the guys thought it would be great fun to fill it with the bits out the hole punch, instead they ended up spending ages unjamming it :P
[13:34]<@Calum> so random hah
[13:34]<+camerongray> Yeah, he also runs the North Berwick pantomime so we went to see him :P
[13:34]<+camerongray> It's good fun
[13:34]<@Calum> heh
[13:35]<+camerongray> "That freezer needs defrosting again" - "Okay do it, but don't defrost it into the servers again"
[13:35]<@Calum> again?
[13:35]<+camerongray> yeah :P
[13:35]<@Calum> oh dear
[13:35]<+camerongray> Luckily just on the top, nothing got in
[13:35]<@Calum> heh
[13:36]<+camerongray> We are pretty famous in the building :P
[13:36]<+camerongray> Delivery drivers always go to the first office, we can tell if there is something for us as they usually laugh :P
[13:36]<@Calum> lol
[13:36]<+camerongray> "is this lynchpin" "No, they are down there *sniggers*"
[13:37]<+camerongray> Then we parade the guy in wearing an inflatable horse costume
[13:37]<+camerongray> That's what I love about a small company
[13:37]<@Calum> yeah
[13:37]<+camerongray> Calum: What to do you do, sounded really interesting?
[13:38]<@Calum> depending who you ask, I am a helpdesk analyst/network engineer/helpdesk support/various other things
[13:38]<@Calum> I'm just general IT, assisting the more experienced guy who is technically my manager but actually isn't a manager but kind of is
[13:39]<+camerongray> Ahh, nice!
[13:40]<@Calum> I'm enjoying it mostly, there's a fair bit of quirky software and weird things we come across thanks to the haphazard way the IT department was run over the last 10 years
[13:40]<+camerongray> Ahh yeah, corporate software can be fun :P
[13:40]<+camerongray> g2g, actually going out now :P
[13:41]<@Calum> heh, have fun

[17:00]<@BC_Programming> time to rework serialization...
[17:01]<@BC_Programming> maybe I should create a special .NET library to support serialization to and from the NBT format
