[07:02]<@BC_Programming> hmm that didn't work at all
[07:02]<@jacky> http://tinyurl.com/bnl5xr8 <<< guaranteed headache fix
[07:03]<+camerongray> jamer: I was once working on my friend's PC and he has his desk under his raised bed - Stood up fogettting about it - so much pain!
[07:03]<jamer> Ive done that
[07:03]<@BC_Programming> can you put TCL stuff in a quit message in mIRC
[07:04]<@BC_Programming> I tried $iif($read(quits.txt),$v1,$1-) as a quit message to try to pick a random quit msg but I guess I did something wrong there... it's not showing a quit message at all though so it must be doing something
[07:06]<@jacky> BC_Programming: I'm rusty with what little I ever did with mIRC's lang. Would have to open help, and proceed to figure it out
[07:06]<@jacky> I can't do it off the top of my head
[07:06]<@BC_Programming> $iif($read(quits.txt),$v1,$1-)
[07:07]<@BC_Programming> bah
[07:07]<@BC_Programming> was hoping I could force it to interpret right here lol
[07:07]<@jacky> try: //
[07:07]<@jacky> er... //say yourCodeHere
[07:07]<@BC_Programming> ahhh
[07:07]<@BC_Programming> I put the quits.txt file in the wrong place :D
[07:07]<@jacky> two slashes (I think) makes it substitute or act on the vars
[07:08]<@jacky> you got an error message?
[07:08]<@BC_Programming> yep
[07:08]<@jacky> with //say ?
[07:08]<@BC_Programming> well technically the message says with read but with the cmd yes
[07:08]<@BC_Programming> * $read: error opening C:\Users\BC_Programming\AppData\Roaming\mIRC\quits.txt
[07:09]<@jacky> I just wanted to feel like I had contributed something
[07:09]<@jacky> :)
[07:09]<@BC_Programming> yes ty :D
[07:09]<@jacky> you can try //echo if you don't want us to see your flubs
[07:09] * @jacky uses //echo
[07:09]<@jacky> heh

[07:10]<@jacky> ok

[07:11]<@BC_Programming> Breakdowns can create breakthroughs. Things fall apart so things can fall together.
[07:11]<@BC_Programming> well /say works

[07:12]<@jacky> know where to put the code?
[07:12]<@BC_Programming> well I put it in the quit message textbox
[07:12]<@jacky> that's what I would try
[07:13]<@jacky> no idea if that box allows vars, code, etc.
[07:13]<@jacky> but you'll find out
[07:13]<@BC_Programming> yeah I figure it is doing something since my quit message isn't that bit of code but just blank

[10:07]<+camerongray> The stupidity of some people astounds me, saw a comment on one of those articles saying "Why don't we do these experiments on earth?" *facepalm*

[10:09]<+camerongray> Has to be the coolest youtuber ever (With the exception of you of course :P)
[10:11]<@BC_Programming> hmm my BCJobClock's data library won't work on Windows Phone 8 without a rather major rewrite
[10:12]<@BC_Programming> or maybe I can cheat and just make a simple POST-able PHP script that could be used for basic functionality to clock ppl in.. or just rewrite the basic functionality hmm
[10:12]<@BC_Programming> Oh Also the GriefPrevention now allegedly supports PostGreSQL

[12:37]<+Tux2> Hey, BC_Programming, you won't guess what I found...
[12:38]<+Tux2> This school has full PDFs of programming books you can get to through google: http://portal.aauj.edu/portal_resources/downloads/programming
[12:39]<@BC_Programming> I get a 404
[12:39]<+Tux2> lol, of course, but try this: https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fportal.aauj.edu%2Fportal_resources%2Fdownloads%2Fprogramming#q=site:http://portal.aauj.edu/portal_resources/downloads/programming&ei=2-GPUcu2G7KEygGK3IGwDw&start=0&sa=N&bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&bvm=bv.46340616,d.aWc&fp=60c85a28f2410b33&biw=1920&bih=938
[12:40]<@BC_Programming> I just counted the number of PDF books I have in my eb0oks folder, 1074 lol
[12:40]<+Tux2> lol
[12:41]<+Tux2> Reason why I found it is I'm looking for the book I took an example from and ported to java
[12:41]<FusRoDah> Hey guys
[12:41]<+Tux2> Hey Mulreay
[12:41]<+Tux2> I found the text of the book here: http://www.yaldex.com/games-programming/0672323699_ch14lev1sec11.html
[12:42]<+Tux2> but of course it doesn't have the CD with all the full examples
[12:43]<@BC_Programming> I'm not even sure why I have all these eBooks... I hardly touch them
[12:44] * FusRoDah is now known as Mulreay
[12:44] * ChanServ sets mode: +o Mulreay
[12:48]<@Mulreay> Anyone had experience removing ransomware?
[12:48]<@BC_Programming> can't say I have
[12:55] * jacky (the_kink@mib-17116CF9.slsbmd.east.verizon.net) has left #glitchpc
[12:56]<+camerongray> Mulreay: Malware issues are better handled on the forums, I won't tell you again
[12:56]<+camerongray> :P
[12:56]<@BC_Programming> lol
[12:57]<@Mulreay> lol
[12:57]<+camerongray> Can you get into taskmanager?
[12:58]<@Mulreay> I'll tell you what I know... typing it out
[13:05]<@Mulreay> One of the staff in my Mum and Dads shop has got a ransomware on his PC from an ad for flash player download from what I can make out. Basically it seems to have added itself to the startup config/registry and basically when the computer starts it locks out with a warning from the Met police saying he's a kiddy fiddler and the such so pay £100. You know like the police do.. 'Hey you sex
[13:05]<@Mulreay> offender you've been looking at highly illegal child porn on this laptop so we have locked your laptop untill you pay us £100 and let that be a lesson to you'. So anyway I have tried booting in safe mode but the crafty buggers have thought of that and it forces a restart when you try so back to square one. I tried using hitman pro as a kickstarter from a flash drive that bypasses the ransomware
[13:05]<@Mulreay> to start but it requires an internet connection to access the cloud but I can't access the desktop when hitman starts so cannot connect to the internet. That's prity much where I left it. Told the guy I would do some research and try again tomorrow. I don't have the laptop here as I couldn't be assed lugging it back from the shop with my own laptop already in my bag.
[13:06]<+camerongray> Hmm
[13:06]<+camerongray> First thing would be to image the drive just incase
[13:07]<@Mulreay> Yeah I don't have the spare HDD space for that
[13:07]<+camerongray> ahh
[13:07]<+camerongray> Not a big deal
[13:07]<+camerongray> I'd then boot into some sort of linux live CD to access the drive and see if I can find the file that either starts it or the executable file that is the ransomware itself
[13:07]<+camerongray> Could be either .exe or .scr
[13:07]<@Mulreay> I mean I could but it would mean deleting stargate SG1 again.. and that aint happenin
[13:07]<+camerongray> Then delete it
[13:07]<+camerongray> lol!
[13:07]<@BC_Programming> Sometimes you can get away with safe mode+ Command Prompt
[13:08]<+camerongray> Oh yeah, that too
[13:08]<@Mulreay> Yeah I thought of that when I got home
[13:08]<@Mulreay> will have to try it
[13:08]<+camerongray> Hopefully if you can find the file and delete it (Or copy it off the machine just to be safe) it should boot up
[13:08]<@BC_Programming> of course then you need to know how to bawble about with Cmd. bawble is my word you can't use it
[13:09]<+camerongray> Worst case it would display an error when you are in saying that it can't find the virus file to start, can easily remove it from the autostart list
[13:09]<@BC_Programming> I had something similar but I'm not sure if it was ransomware from the guy upstairs
[13:09]<@BC_Programming> RCMP warning thing... actually maybe it was, I never read it
[13:09]<@BC_Programming> but it let me use safe mode and use autoruns and delete it
[13:09]<@BC_Programming> so I guess I was lucky
[13:09]<+camerongray> You should hopefully be able to try to list files by date - The ransomware would be one of the newest files since the machine was pretty much locked since then
[13:10]<@Mulreay> All I really need to do is access msconfig and the startup programs then I can sort it out in the reg.. or atleast run Mbytes
[13:10]<+camerongray> Yeah
[13:10]<+camerongray> Just a bit hard if you can't get into Windows
[13:10]<@Mulreay> yep
[13:10]<@BC_Programming> they usually install via registry guff, especially if you don't see the login dialog
[13:11]<@BC_Programming> sometimes they usurp winlogon as the login manager thingie
[13:11]<+camerongray> Actually... I know hiren's boot CD has an app that allows you to edit the registry on an already installed os
[13:11]<+camerongray> The old PC I really need to get rid of :P
[13:12]<@Mulreay> There is a HDD restore on boot I could try but the words 'we will delete everything and re-copy the files' strikes fear into my heart when it's not my laptop
[13:12]<+camerongray> Yeah
[13:13]<+camerongray> I mean, why would noone want a perfectly good smoke stained Sempron 2600+ PC :P
[13:13]<@Mulreay> heh
[13:13]<@BC_Programming> maybe because they haven't suffered blunt force trauma
[13:13]<+camerongray> lol
[13:14]<+camerongray> It's not just smoke though, Smoke and Air Freshener - Smells really odd (not in a good way)
[13:14]<@BC_Programming> one day I will find VB5 or Visual Studio 97 downloads
[13:14]<+camerongray> I removed the rear fan, blew some dust out and ran the heatsink through the dishwasher but it's still pretty bad
[13:25]<@Mulreay> Think I will have to order a Pizza
[13:28]<@BC_Programming> I should contact MSDN and complain that they don't have VS97
[13:28]<@BC_Programming> or at least learn why they made the strange omission
[13:28]<@BC_Programming> "yeah, we still provide QuickBASIC 4.5- but you want Visual Studio 97? nope that's too old"
[13:29]<+camerongray> lol
[13:29]<+camerongray> Can't you find it from "other sources" :P
[13:29]<@BC_Programming> yeah I tried that too
[13:29]<@BC_Programming> it's as if it never existed
[13:29]<@BC_Programming> only copy of VB5 I can find is the free Control Creation Edition
[13:30]<@BC_Programming> and every search always seems to put hits for VS6 and VB5 higher in the list which is annoying as heck
[13:30]<@BC_Programming> VS5 and VB6*
[13:32]<+camerongray> This has VB5 pro (No key though :( ) - http://vetusware.com/download/Visual%20Basic%205%20Pro%205.0/?id=9070
[13:32]<@BC_Programming> vetusware doesn't load though
[13:32]<+camerongray> loads for me
[13:32]<@BC_Programming> key would be 335-335336
[13:33]<@BC_Programming> :P
[13:33]<+camerongray> Ahh
[13:33]<@BC_Programming> MS gave me that one so it's totally fine right?
[13:33]<+camerongray> What do you mean by not loading?
[13:33]<+camerongray> lol!
[13:33]<@BC_Programming> "cannot find server"
[13:33]<@BC_Programming> could be ISP thing
[13:33]<+camerongray> Hmm, works for me
[13:33]<+camerongray> I'll try dl'ing it
[13:33]<+camerongray> I should have an account from yonks ago
[13:33]<@BC_Programming> yep ISP is probably not liking me
[13:34]<@BC_Programming> I keep forgetting that it was my old Router that used OpenDNS
[13:35]<@BC_Programming> there we go mwa haha
[13:35]<@BC_Programming> TY cam this will help my series on Visual Basic :D I'm going through every single version, what they add and change and such
[13:35]<+camerongray> lol!
[13:36]<@BC_Programming> I just finished the Visual Basic 1 entry
[13:36]<@BC_Programming> only version of VB I cannot get would be VB5
[13:36]<@BC_Programming> things are going to get hard to deal with once I get past VB6
[13:36]<+camerongray> Mulreay: Hirens boot CD's mini XP contains "Autoruns" which appears to let you change startup programs in an offline registry
[13:36]<@BC_Programming> not even sure if I can install VS7 on Win7 properly
[13:37]<+camerongray> It isn't working on this old PC but it could be worth a go
[13:39]<@BC_Programming> for authenticity I think I will use my Win95 VM for the VB5 article, lol
[13:41]<jamer> Lol
