[04:32]<+camerongray> I hate when people try to explain the reason something doesn't have a feature is because it isn't needed
[04:32]<+camerongray> Like people in the postgres forum claiming that there is no need to be able to specify the location of a column (e.g. First) when doing ALTER TABLE ... ADD COLUMN
[04:33]<@BC_Programming> heh
[04:33]<+camerongray> Luckily there's nothing in the table, I'll probably delete it and recreate it, It would feel wrong having a primary key at the end!
[04:35]<@BC_Programming> grrrr
[04:36]<@BC_Programming> I'm really getting sick of some minecraft bugs
[04:36]<@BC_Programming> one release thyey fix it
[04:36]<@BC_Programming> then it comes back
[04:36]<@BC_Programming> and now my sheep farm is in disarray because sheep can go through fences
[04:36]<@BC_Programming> my hours of effort organizing their colours was in vain
[04:38]<+camerongray> aww :P
[04:38]<@BC_Programming> Now I have browns in my blacks! THIS WILL NOT STAND!
[04:38]<+camerongray> hehehe
[04:38]<@BC_Programming> at least they aren't falling through the floors
[04:44]<+camerongray> Oh great, power cut in edinburgh
[04:45]<+camerongray> Power is staying on here but lights keep flashing
[04:45]<+camerongray> Please don't die, the server in the office is 3 days off of a whole year of uptime!

[11:31]<+pottsi> going well
[11:31]<+pottsi> cept i don't drive
[11:31]<+pottsi> i just check tickets
[11:31]<+pottsi> and fight if they don't have one
[11:31]<+pottsi> xD
[11:32]<@BC_Programming> I heard that here there are people that ride the bus and don't even pay a fare
[11:32]<@BC_Programming> they just get on
[11:41]<+camerongray> Can't do that here, all passengers walk past the driver
[11:41]<@BC_Programming> yeah they do here too
[11:41]<@BC_Programming> I think the bus drivers just stopped caring
[11:41]<+camerongray> They used to have exit doors at the rear, some people did that :P
[11:42]<@BC_Programming> you're supposed to put the fare in when you get on, but apparently some people don't
[11:42]<+camerongray> Ahh
[11:42]<@BC_Programming> so I guess the bus driver can either delay the bus to either get the fare, or throw them off, or whatever, but I suppose it's just not worth it
[11:43]<+camerongray> What's stupid here is the little RFID readers you put the card on, they are slightly convex and some drivers insist you let go of the card. Card ends up sliding off and getting caught in the drivers cab between the dash and the windscreen :P
[11:43]<@BC_Programming> Though really all the driver would have to do is let everybody else on the bus know... I'm sure they can deal with the rest :P
[11:43]<+camerongray> lol, During tourist season here the number of people that get on, put something like £10 in the slot, then throw a fit at the fact they don't get change
[11:44]<+camerongray> It says in huge letters in several places :P
[11:44]<@BC_Programming> lol
[11:44]<@BC_Programming> that reminds me also, my stepdad actually kind of saved a bus drivers life, at least that's how the driver felt
[11:45]<@BC_Programming> the guy was having a heart attack and he was the only one that did anything
[11:45]<+camerongray> Even if the driver gives them a day ticket, that's £3.50 :P
[11:45]<+camerongray> wow!
[11:45]<+camerongray> The busses here are very good
[11:46]<@BC_Programming> I like to imagine all the other passengers
[11:46]<+camerongray> All high tech, All bus stops have screens with GPS bus times and they have mobile apps to tell bus times and show maps of bus stops
[11:46]<@BC_Programming> "oh great, the driver is having a heart attack, now I'll be late for Pilates! Everything bad happens to me!"
[11:46]<+camerongray> hehehe
[11:47]<+camerongray> Here buses are very popular, driving in edinburgh is hell
[11:48]<@BC_Programming> for some reason there is a wikipedia entry for my cities busses
[11:48]<@BC_Programming> which seems a bit specific
[11:48]<@BC_Programming> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanaimo_Regional_Transit_System
[11:49]<+camerongray> Nice
[11:49]<+camerongray> One for here too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lothian_Buses
[11:49]<@BC_Programming> heh double-decker busses look hilarious
[11:49]<+camerongray> lol
[11:49]<@BC_Programming> It's like a bus wearing a hat
[11:49]<+camerongray> So much more practical
[11:49]<+camerongray> hahah
[11:50]<+camerongray> Although, I'm sure some drivers wait until there is the maximum number of people on the stairs before accelerating
[11:51]<@BC_Programming> you know what there isn't enough of, bus racing
[11:51]<@BC_Programming> I mean there are car races, but why not bus races
[11:51]<+camerongray> hahaha
[11:51]<@BC_Programming> surely there is special skill in driving a bus
[11:51]<+camerongray> Ours would fail on the corners :P
[11:52]<+camerongray> Now they are bringing in hybrig ones
[11:52]<+camerongray> hybrid*
[11:52]<@BC_Programming> Then the games- Need for Speed: Public Transit
[11:53]<@BC_Programming> Bus showcases... Morgan freeman voice over talking about the bus features... "0 to 60 in only 5 minutes..."
[12:00]<+camerongray> hehehe

[14:37]<@BC_Programming> "Saying Linux is secure because there are fewer security incidents overall is like saying the windmill at a minigolf course is more resistant to bullets than a shooting range target. Just because it's not full of bulletholes doesn't mean it's bulletproof" Just came up with that one
[14:38]<lucifer> Same thing with macs even
[14:38]<@BC_Programming> we're talking about usable Computer systems though
[14:38]<lucifer> XD
[14:38]<@BC_Programming> the Mac is like those old vtech computers
[14:39]<@BC_Programming> the ones that pretended to be a computer, that is
[14:39]<lucifer> Lol
[14:39]<@BC_Programming> I had one when I was like 4
[14:40]<@BC_Programming> come to think of it though, I recall it used these little punched cards with a picture on them, and I figured out that the arrangement of the holes were used to determine what game was played
[14:41]<@BC_Programming> I seem to remember putting in a card upside down because when it was upside down it had the same arrangement as another card and got it to play the other game which seemed cool at the time
[14:41]<@BC_Programming> now I'm trying to remember if that was the one that never STFU
[14:41]<@BC_Programming> "INSERT CARD"
[14:44]<@BC_Programming> I'm going to have nightmares about that now I know it

[15:34]<+camerongray> And now it's time for "Computer Hope quote of the day" *dramatic intro music*
[15:35]<+camerongray> Patio on forum: "A csv. file won't even hold 2 million rows...i think he's exaggerating."
[15:40]<@Mulreay> Restart my desktop 'update flash' sigh OK. 'Can we add McAfee?' No 'Are you sure?' ask me again and I will knock tell living bells of shite out of you adobe... 'see you tomorrow.'
