[08:07]<@Mulreay> Happy new year Jacky.. although that is not technically a statement and cannot be guarenteed as the new year has not happened it is rather upheld by the 'new year paradigm'. So here's hoping one for you. And BC_Programming, camerongray, Craig, Pottsi, tux2, nat, sonicrules, Nepherius and ChanbotVI
[08:07]<@jacky> I was first!! I was first!!!!! :) :)
[08:07]<@jacky> heh
[08:07]<@Mulreay> Lol
[08:07]<@jacky> the rest of the mumbo-jumbo doesn't matter.....
[08:07]<@jacky> heheheeheh
[08:09]<@Mulreay> How is jacky?
[08:09] * @jacky checks
[08:09]<@jacky>
[08:09]<@jacky>
[08:09]<@jacky> doing ok.
[08:09]<@jacky> tnx
[08:09]<@jacky> you?
[08:09]<@Mulreay> I'm OK thx, glad to be back home after 2 weeks in London with Mum and Dad
[08:10]<@jacky> good to go... good to get home
[08:10]<@jacky> is that it?
[08:10]<@jacky> :)
[08:10]<@Mulreay> heh yeah
[08:11]<@jacky> has winter kicked in, over there?
[08:11]<@jacky> we haven't had it REAL bad yet, but it was pretty cold last night
[08:12]<@jacky> the cat's water bowl was frozen solid this morning
[08:12]<@Mulreay> Nope, just rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, rain
[08:15]<@Mulreay> !w manchester UK
[08:16]<@Mulreay> I have to completely disconnect everything tomorrow and sort out my cable issues.. it's really bad
[08:16]<@jacky> !w crapo
[08:17]<@jacky> the temp is supposed to creep back up, over the next few days. Yesterday was colder than today
[08:17]<@jacky> fortunately, the wind has not been bad
[08:17]<@jacky> that comes in the next few weeks.
[08:17]<@jacky> !sky manchester UK
[08:17]<@jacky> !sky crapo
[08:18]<@jacky> wow... our daylight is quite a bit more than yours, this time of year.
[08:18]<@jacky> Sunset: 4:03 PM GMT <<< that sucks
[08:18]<@jacky> heheeheh
[08:19]<@Mulreay> That's latitude for you
[08:21]<@jacky> someday, I'd like to find a map online... where I could see a line of latitude, and trace it around... see what else is on the same latitude
[08:21]<@jacky> I think I looked a few times... it has got to be out there
[08:22]<@jacky> notice this though, for you: Tomorrow: 1m 33s longer vs 49s for my area. :) at that rate difference, you will quickly catch up, and by end of June, you will have MUCH more daylight than around here.
[08:23]<@Mulreay> True
[08:23]<@Mulreay> Here's my job for tomorrow
[08:23]<@Mulreay> http://img854.imageshack.us/img854/2904/spa0020g.jpg
[08:24]<@jacky> not today? heh
[08:25]<@Mulreay> It would mean unplugging everything.. so will do it early on
[08:25]<@jacky> here... let me help you.... I've already spotted the problem... see the white wire? it is plugged in the wrong place.
[08:25]<@jacky> Don't say I didn't help
[08:25]<@jacky> :)
[08:25]<@Mulreay> haha
[08:25]<@jacky> just curious.. WHY are there so many wire?
[08:25]<@jacky> s
[08:25]<@jacky> I mean... what all do you have ???
[08:26]<@Mulreay> I've changed a lot of equipment over the last couple of months.. but the 'wire gremlins' have taken over and made it look a mess
[08:27]<@Mulreay> I have 1 PC, 3 laptops and a PS3 attached plus headphones for the PS3, PC and TV.. also there is a SKY box for all my TV stuff
[08:28]<@jacky> it looks like enough wire for about 10x that much stuff
[08:28]<@jacky> heh
[08:29]<@Mulreay> Yeah.. there may be a few extraneous wires hiddeen in there but.. I think there all used for one reason or another
[08:30]<@Mulreay> Hard to tell from here
[08:31]<@jacky> heheeh... tomorrow... Mulreay will be, "Gee... here's another one that goes nowhere. I wonder what it used to do?"
[08:31]<@jacky> hehehehe
[08:34]<@Mulreay> Lol, yeah.. 'Mulreay pulls and pulls on a wire.. then the TV falls off it's stand
[08:36]<@jacky> or... the neighbor's TV falls of its stand
[08:36]<@jacky> hehe
[08:37]<@Mulreay> heh
[08:38]<@Mulreay> Need to go and put a wash on.. bbiab
[08:40]<@jacky> I'll be away for a while too
[08:40]<@jacky>

[10:22]<+Craig> Hey Mulreay
[10:22]<+camerongray> Hey Mulreay
[10:23]<@jacky> see you all later ....
[10:23]<+camerongray> I really am turning into the local computer repair guy, in the space of two hours I have taken in a PC with a failing HDD and a laptop that was stood on
[10:23]<+camerongray> cya jacky
[10:23]<@Mulreay> Later jacky
[10:23] * jacky (the_kink@mib-DC4583B1.slsbmd.east.verizon.net) has left #glitchpc
[10:26]<+camerongray> Amazingly I was able to recover all but 4 documents from the HDD despite it sounding like a floppy drive
[10:31]<@Mulreay> nice
[10:33]<+camerongray> Yeah, and I've ordered an LCD for the laptop for tomorrow, the machine still works but the screen is completely dead
[10:33]<+camerongray> Just a big white image with a crack in the middle and a big black spot
[10:34]<@Mulreay> Not too difficult.. done two myself
[10:35]<+camerongray> Yeah
[10:36]<+camerongray> She said her and her boyfriend just sat staring at it for ages
[10:36]<@Mulreay> heh
[11:00]<@Mulreay> Craig you still there?
[11:00]<+Craig> yup
[11:01]<@Mulreay> You around for a while?
[11:02]<+Craig> no... I have a job at 1
[11:02]<+Craig> in about 2 hrs
[11:02]<@Mulreay> Can you talk in like 10mins for a short time?
[11:06]<@Mulreay> Downloading Left 4 Dead 2 @ 6.2mb/s I did have counter strike downloading at 10.2mb/s
[11:08]<+Craig> Yeah

[18:24]<@BC_Programming> any peeps about
[18:26]<@BC_Programming> oooh MC snapshot for redstone update
[18:34] * Tux3 (Tux2@mib-A59775B1.rwl-wy.client.bresnan.net) Quit (Ping timeout)
[18:44]<+Tux2> I'm here BC_Programming
[18:44]<@BC_Programming> ahoy
[18:44]<@BC_Programming> I'm gathering nether quartz :D
[18:45]<+Tux2> Nether quartz? New snapshot I'm assuming
[18:45]<@BC_Programming> indeed
[18:45]<@BC_Programming> it adds a load of stuff... gold and iron pressure plates, hoppers, you can smelt netherrack into nether bricks, redstone blocks...
[18:46]<+Tux2> Gold and iron pressure plates? What do they do?
[18:46]<@BC_Programming> I'm not 100% sure
[18:46]<@BC_Programming> they give out different signals for different amounts of items on them
[18:46]<@BC_Programming> I'm not sure what the difference is though
[18:47]<@BC_Programming> there is a new comparator but there is also a world-corrupting bug with them so I'm not testing those in my SSP world :P
[18:49]<+Tux2> Added weighted pressure plates that detect item stacks
[18:50]<+Tux2> lol, so weighted pressure plautes
[18:50]<@BC_Programming> yeah there are two of them, so not sure how they operate differently
[18:50]<+Tux2> Yeah...
[18:50]<+Tux2> Maybe the difference between wood and stone
[18:51]<@BC_Programming> would be difficult to have multiple people on the same pressure plate though
[18:51]<@BC_Programming> or maybe one detects the amount of items in a stack as well
[18:51]<@BC_Programming> whereas the other only measures the number of different stacks
[18:53]<+Tux2> lol, yeah
[18:53]<+Tux2> Might want to do some experimenting
[18:54]<@BC_Programming> yeah I probably will, need to gather nether quartz for the new recipes
[18:54]<@BC_Programming> also going to check that my piston stuff works across my world
[18:54]<@BC_Programming> though I've not done anything super fancy with them
[18:55]<+Tux2> lol
[18:55]<+Tux2> I want to play with the day sensor
[18:55]<@BC_Programming> heheh
[18:55]<+Tux2> Having lamps that turn themselves on at night would be epic
[18:55]<@BC_Programming> well this is awkward... I just went to my snow base
[18:56]<@BC_Programming> which I've not visited since like 1.3
[18:56]<@BC_Programming> and I found enchanted books in a chest
[18:56]<@BC_Programming> oh wait that's my ender chest nevermind
[18:56]<+Tux2> ROFL!
[19:06]<+Tux2> lol, a new player trap with the hopper!
[19:06]<+Tux2> make a fall trap and when they die all the items go into your locked chest. :D
[19:07]<+Tux2> Gold pressure plate is the lightweight pressure plate
[19:08]<+Tux2> activated by 1 item, and per 5 items lights up the next redstone
[19:08]<+Tux2> iron is activated by 32
[19:08]<@BC_Programming> ahhh
[19:09]<+Tux2> Yeah, just watched a video on the snapshot
[19:17]<+Tux2> WHOOOO! I'm installing a native Steam app in linux!
[19:17]<+Tux2> The steam launcher I should say

[21:20]<@BC_Programming> Hmmm this looks interesting
[21:20]<@BC_Programming> http://nanaimo.en.craigslist.ca/sof/3517121877.html
[21:22]<@BC_Programming> first I will create a entry on my programming performance series for PHP, which I for some reason didn't do originally
[21:56]<+Tux2> lol, sounds like a really good fit for you BC_Programming
[21:56]<@BC_Programming> thx :) interesting that they don't want a resume
[21:56]<@BC_Programming> shame I need to add some actual PHP content to my blog though, lol
[21:56]<+Tux2> lol, right?
[21:56]<@BC_Programming> but my blog is well established already so I have that :D
[22:33]<@BC_Programming> hmm wow
[22:33]<@BC_Programming> every other implementation of the anagrams program in other languages has been around a few seconds
[22:33]<@BC_Programming> ruby so far was the slowest with 11 seconds
[22:33]<@BC_Programming> F# was the fastest with something like .38 seconds
[22:33]<@BC_Programming> PHP clocks in at freaking 2 minutes
[23:01] * Nat (natman97@mib-642FCA28.socal.res.rr.com) Quit (Quit: zzzZZZzzzZZzzZZZzz)
[23:07] * Nat (natman97@mib-642FCA28.socal.res.rr.com) has joined #glitchpc
[23:08]<@BC_Programming> hmm most I was able to get it reduces was down to 113 seconds
[23:08]<@BC_Programming> I guess PHP just isn't well suited to iterating over hundreds of thousands of elements, which makes sense considering you wouldn't want to do that for a web page anyway, which is it's primary domain.
[23:17]<@BC_Programming> hey cool foudn a github widget for wordpress
