Session Start: Thu Nov 22 00:00:00 2012 Session Ident: #glitchpc [00:00] * Now talking in #glitchpc
[00:00] * Topic is 'Welcome to #glitchpc chat. Profanity, trolls, and impersonation are not welcome here. Street1 has become a Silent Keyboard. http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/savannah/obituary.aspx?page=lifestory&pid=139870551'
[00:00] * Set by jacky on Tue Mar 02 11:03:23
[00:00]<@BC_Programming> hmm that's not a bad idea for a mod... make all the monsters really strong or something
[00:00]<+Tux2> :D
[00:00]<+Tux2> Right now I'm just learning how...
[00:00]<@BC_Programming> like the same spawning stuff as my bukkit plugin in mobmode
[00:00]<@BC_Programming> yeah making new mobs is rather...messy, from what I remember
[00:00]<+Tux2> lol
[00:01]<@BC_Programming> I got Juno installed yay
[00:01]<@BC_Programming> on my laptop anyway
[00:28]<+Tux2> :D
[00:37]<@BC_Programming> hmm I just had an idea for the border issue, since the map isn't actually square
[00:37]<@BC_Programming> could have doors every little way, with a touchplate only on the outside
[00:38]<@BC_Programming> make the border a bit bigger than necessary, and if somebody get's outside they will have no choice but to go back in through a door

[23:23]<AlexM850> So, BC_Programming i hear your making a pretty interesting plugin.
[23:23]<@BC_Programming> hai
[23:24]<AlexM850> Hello. :)
[23:24]<AlexM850> Tux mentioned something to me about it.
[23:24]<@BC_Programming> I am... well, assuming I can fix the problems that seem to rear their heads everytime we make it live
[23:24]<+Tux2> lol, it's getting there BC_Programming
[23:24]<AlexM850> I've been looking for a nice one to come along, to start a server with, and yet to find one.
[23:25]<AlexM850> I can definitely wait, for this one though.
[23:25]<AlexM850> From what Tux, told me.
[23:26]<@BC_Programming> heh I only started it to populate chests in one map so we wouldn't have to and it sort of snowballed from there to actually trying to manage the games, declare winners and stuff :3
[23:27]<AlexM850> well, if you need testing done, you can email me, because i'm looking to start a HG/Mob Arena type server along side my Survival & Vanilla server i have running.
[23:27]<AlexM850> If that would be any help to you?
[23:28]<@BC_Programming> It might be, thx
[23:30]<@BC_Programming> I think it's mostly minor stuff now though, and making it more configurable, which I can mostly suss out with my test server, and when we give it a whirl on Tux's HG server
[23:33]<AlexM850> Nice ^_^ Well, im generally in Esper.net IRC i dont use Mibbit much :/
[23:34]<@BC_Programming> I mostly just added the Mob Arena stuff because it was boring just killing myself to test it, lol
[23:34]<AlexM850> If you would like to, you can get me @ aemcraftserver@gmail.com.
[23:34]<AlexM850> What is included in the mob arena stuff?
[23:35]<@BC_Programming> well right now it's all the same plugin, actually
[23:35]<@BC_Programming> mob arena is just like a separate mode from the standard PvP Survival
[23:35]<@BC_Programming> gameplay wise, it shuts off PvP currently, and players kill mobs for points
[23:35]<+Tux2> I'm going to be making a wrapper plugin to automate the process
[23:35]<@BC_Programming> the mobs all spawn with random armour, with random enchantments as well as various potion effects
[23:35]<+Tux2> With this plugin at the moment, you need an admin there to prepare and start the games
[23:36]<@BC_Programming> things like charged creepers with regen are a common sight
[23:37]<@BC_Programming> points are awarded based on the effects and armour and stuff a mob has. It doesn't currently actually store anything persistently for either "mode", so there isn't anything like a leaderboard or anything like that, at least not yet
[23:37]<AlexM850> Will it ever be, automated start?
[23:38] * Kevin (Mibbit@mib-742303B9.dhcp.bycy.mi.charter.com) has joined #glitchpc
[23:38]<AlexM850> Without an admin there, just curious, & what about the event that mcMMO handles, if a server has mcMMO, with serrated strikes?
[23:38]<AlexM850> Will that be disabled as well.
[23:38]<@BC_Programming> it doesn't disable anything having to do with other plugins
[23:39]<@BC_Programming> at least not that I know of.... or intentionally
[23:40]<+Tux2> No, it doesn't
[23:40]<+Tux2> although I am making a wrapper plugin that I would most gladly share with you AlexM850
[23:41]<@BC_Programming> The only major problem I see is with start points since it sort of relies on the map to have that sussed out
[23:41]<+Tux2> lol, that's what my plugin will be for
[23:42]<+Tux2> his is more mechanics, mine will be management
[23:43]<@BC_Programming> yeah mine fires some events with information when certain things happen in the managed game, that Tux's grabs and does various things with... it's more a matter of my plugin having the right events to make automation possible
[23:44]<+Tux2> Exactly
[23:44]<AlexM850> Okay, that makes sense :)
[23:44]<AlexM850> Wrapper plugin, Tux?
[23:46]<+Tux2> yes, a plugin that uses the API and events fired to create an arena experience with warps, etc.
[23:49]<@BC_Programming> The warps I like... I really never liked the idea of leaving that up to the map, because that isn't something you can really rely on
[23:50]<AlexM850> What makes you say that, BC?
[23:51]<@BC_Programming> well the map we are using, the builder made a special area for the start point
[23:51]<@BC_Programming> and a lot of adminning the games right now is herding players to those start points properly
[23:52]<@BC_Programming> (and preparing and starting the games themselves, ofcourse)
[23:53]<@BC_Programming> "warps" would be good- say, if players were just randomly put down within the arena border, since right now the map we use either has players hopefully disperse through the sewers of the city map, or use command blocks to teleport them to specific locations.
[23:54]<@BC_Programming> If I've learned anything from this it's that Players will often do their best to game the system
[23:54]<+Tux2> lol, yeah
[23:55]<@BC_Programming> The warping thing will also be good to prevent people that didn't actually join in a game from participating... that happened a few times
[23:55]<@BC_Programming> in fact even I forgot to join myself a few times, lol
[23:55]<+Tux2> lol, yeah
[23:55]<AlexM850> Lol XD
[23:56]<+Tux2> I would go through and pick out the non players, teleport them high above the map and make them die
[23:56]<+Tux2> or if a player didn't make it in I'd have to teleport them in
[23:56]<@BC_Programming> Tux2: well, the non-players could just not be teleported into the map
[23:56]<+Tux2> One annoying thing was knockback swords
[23:56]<@BC_Programming> eg. left behind in a "lobby" area
[23:56]<+Tux2> BC_Programming: spectators
[23:56]<+Tux2> that got into the gates
[23:57]<AlexM850> Have a defineable a spawn point for players, with a waiting lobby for it? When using ./join GameName or ./join MapName it queries them to teleport them to the next playing location, or game?
[23:58]<+Tux2> Yup, kind of
[23:58]<+Tux2> haven't started that plugin yet, needed to make sure all the bugs were worked out of BC_Programming's plugin first
[23:59]<AlexM850> Sounds very professional & well thought out, unlike most of these other similiar plugins i have seen.
[23:59]<AlexM850> Most of them seem to be thrown together sloppy.
[23:59]<AlexM850> :(
[23:59]<@BC_Programming> oh you'll be dissapointed
