[12:02]<@BC_Programming> well the new block collision stuff actually seems to work, had a ball going super fast between two lines of blocks and it never "jumped out" so there is that
[12:04]<+camerongray> Cool
[12:04]<+camerongray> I really should have tested my system on the hosting, had to change SO much to get it to play nicely
[12:05]<+camerongray> It's a URL Unshortener that inludes safety ratings from WOT and other info about the target web page
[12:05]<@BC_Programming> cool
[12:05]<+camerongray> http://www.unshorten.it/
[12:05]<@BC_Programming> 8-cake labs?
[12:06]<+camerongray> Yeh - Me and a group of friends
[12:06]<+camerongray> No idea who came up with the name :P
[12:06]<@BC_Programming> you know what would be cool, a firefox plugin that uses your API :P
[12:07]<+camerongray> In development
[12:07]<+camerongray> Well, A chrome one
[12:07]<+camerongray> You right click a short URL and it opens the results page in a new tab
[12:07]<+camerongray> But need the art person to do an icon
[12:07]<Tux2> wow! Excellent! http://www.unshorten.it/unshorten.php?shortURL=http://mfav.me/1&utm_source=landing
[12:08]<Tux2> lol, preview of my website failed though...
[12:10]<+camerongray> It may take a while to get it
[12:10]<+camerongray> Cool
[12:10]<+camerongray> It basically follows any redirects
[12:12]<+camerongray> Damn - found a bug - The footer isn't on the results page
[12:12]<Tux2> lol!
[12:13]<Tux2> Here's what I have been working on: http://forums.canarymod.net/showthread.php?tid=318
[12:13]<+camerongray> And the code for it is there - *grr*
[12:13]<@BC_Programming> hmm... BASeBlock feels like it's jerky and slower than normal but the FPS counter sticks around 60fps...
[12:14]<Tux2> lol, something must be jerking around...
[12:14]<@BC_Programming> the balls aren't moving as smoothly as they used to, or they don't look/feel like it
[12:15]<@BC_Programming> OTOH during the collision checks it has to generate a polygon for each ball
[12:16] * sonicrules1234 (sonicrules@mib-3E9DB4DC.lsanca.dsl-w.verizon.net) has joined #glitchpc
[12:18]<@BC_Programming> also according to the profiler, the Ball collision checking code only took 133ms total, ot of a good 240,689 calls
[12:18]<Tux2> hmm... nice
[12:19]<+camerongray> Fixed the footer
[12:20]<+camerongray> What do you think?
[12:21]<@BC_Programming> you guys better not make an arkanoid clone, that's like, my territory
[12:23]<Tux2> lol, pretty cool.
[12:24]<Tux2> It's definitely going in my toolkit. :D
[12:24]<Tux2> brb, going to get lunch.
[12:24] * sonicrules1234 (sonicrules@mib-3E9DB4DC.lsanca.dsl-w.verizon.net) Quit (Input/output error)
[12:38]<+camerongray> lol - We won't :P
[12:38]<+camerongray> Hopefully the art person will hurry up with the extension icon so we can release that

[12:45]<+camerongray> I think I'm most proud of the API
[12:45]<+camerongray> Looks quite professional - Especially for being written in a few hours
[13:02]<@BC_Programming> haha... Minecraft single player, made a new base with another piston door
[13:02]<@BC_Programming> decided to leave
[13:02]<@BC_Programming> open the door
[13:02]<@BC_Programming> there were like 10 zombies and 10 skeletons just loitering right in the entranceway -_-
[13:03]<Tux2> lol...
[13:03]<Tux2> you should make a hallway lined with pistons...
[13:04]<Tux2> then just suffocate them all.
[13:16]<Tux2> lol camerongray, a lot of things can look professional that are just written in a few hours.
[13:18]<Tux2> but yeah, good job :D
[13:32]<+camerongray> lol - Thanks
[13:33]<+camerongray> Just need a slightly faster server
[13:33]<+camerongray> Probably going to use Media Temple
[13:35] * rayvtirx (ace@mib-6355A712.aztw.cable.virginmedia.com) has joined #glitchpc
[13:35]<rayvtirx> are you here tux?
[13:37]<+camerongray> Arg - The firefox addon is going to be such a pain to make :(
[13:37]<+camerongray> Anyone here have any experience with it?
[13:40]<Tux2> rayvtirx, yes, I am
[13:44]<rayvtirx> oops sorry
[13:45]<rayvtirx> i was told to ask you here, but im not sure if i asked allready, about a small problem with my console in ubuntu server
[13:47]<rayvtirx> it was about getting the colours back to denote folders, executables etc
[13:48]<rayvtirx> did i ask b4?
[13:54]<+camerongray> Gah - This Firefox addon is going to be a real pain for something so simple!
[13:55]<Tux2> rayvtirx, nope, I don't think you did.
[13:56]<Tux2> are you using the command ls or dir?
[13:56]<rayvtirx> ls
[13:56]<rayvtirx> and if i type source .bashrc the color comes back
[13:56]<rayvtirx> for that session
[13:57]<rayvtirx> i just wondered how to get it to stay even when i log out and back in again
[13:57]<Tux2> have you tried doing: ls --color=always
[13:58]<rayvtirx> no havnt tried that, didnt know about it, oh hang on, did i try that from some answer i got from google, hmm, 2 secs will test
[13:59]<rayvtirx> that only works once
[13:59]<Tux2> hmm...
[13:59]<rayvtirx> so if i type ls --color=always yes its colored
[14:02]<Tux2> where is your .bashrc file?
[14:02]<Tux2> also, when did this start happening?
[14:02]<rayvtirx> .bashrc is in my home directory - /home/matt
[14:03]<rayvtirx> and it startd happening after i deleted a load of hidden files, from that directory lolz
[14:03]<rayvtirx> or i think it did
[14:03]<rayvtirx> infact im pretty certain it did
[14:03]<rayvtirx> im a meddler sorry
[14:04]<Tux2> lol...
[14:05]<rayvtirx> if i sudo su then the colors are there automatically
[14:05]<rayvtirx> so i guess it must be that i deleted something from my home directory i shouldnt have
[14:06]<Tux2> exactly
[14:07]<Tux2> do you have a .bash_profile file?
[14:07]<rayvtirx> in home - hang on
[14:07]<rayvtirx> nope
[14:08]<Tux2> create one with this content: http://pastebin.com/q3PbVhye
[14:08]<Tux2> make sure to make it executable.
[14:09]<rayvtirx> is that chmod +x
[14:09]<Tux2> correct
[14:10]<rayvtirx> ok, log out and in again?
[14:10]<Tux2> yup
[14:11]<rayvtirx> yay
[14:11]<rayvtirx> you diamond
[14:12]<Tux2> lol, I was just looking at all the hidden files in my home directory and I found that one.
[14:12]<rayvtirx> thank you :)
[14:12]<Tux2> No problem. ;)
[14:12]<rayvtirx> it was kind of annoying
[14:12]<Tux2> I can imagine.
[14:12]<rayvtirx> not really important
[14:12]<rayvtirx> but just a niggly thing
[14:13]<Tux2> lol, just don't go randomly deleting hidden files from now on, okay?
[14:13]<rayvtirx> no i wont lol
[14:13]<rayvtirx> hehheh
[14:14]<rayvtirx> thanks alot, ill post your solution on the forum
[14:14]<rayvtirx> i actually tried the ubuntu channel on freenode and noone could fix it
[14:15]<Tux2> lol, did you tell them that you were deleting those hidden files?
[14:15]<rayvtirx> yes i think i did
[14:15]<rayvtirx> i only spoke to one person tho
[14:16]<rayvtirx> he got me to try the color=always thing and a couple of others
[14:16]<Tux2> ah...
[14:16]<rayvtirx> so thanks v much for that
[14:17]<Tux2> no problem, any time. That's actually the file from a fedora install.
[14:17]<rayvtirx> ah ,
[14:18] * rayvtirx is pleased
[14:18]<rayvtirx> :)
[14:18]<Tux2> so it might be a little different than the standard Ubuntu one, but it works.
[14:19]<rayvtirx> yup, thats all that matters to me
[14:19]<rayvtirx> thank you v much again
[14:25]<rayvtirx> im off now, thanks for that tux2
[14:25]<rayvtirx> bfn

[14:27]<@BC_Programming> well Pascal/FreePascal's string manipulation routines really suck
[14:28]<@BC_Programming> it's got like 10 functions, which are all basic... pos(), the equivalent of substring, doesn't take a starting location, so you end up having to write your own bloody string functions that should be there to begin with
[14:28]<@BC_Programming> at least it's better than Turbo Pascal... whoever thought a string should never be longer than 255 characters ought to be shot
[14:37]<Tux2> and why are you using pascal?
[14:38]<@BC_Programming> why not
[14:38]<@BC_Programming> Lazarus is an OK ide at least
[14:38]<@BC_Programming> the language is ok, it's just the standard library stuff that leaves a lot to be desired
[14:39]<@BC_Programming> technically atm I'm refactoring some of the sound stuff in BASeBlock
[14:48]<Tux2> lol, okay.
[14:49]<Tux2> You know that if my computer had windows on it I would probably play it more often... (I've only played it once...)
[14:50]<+camerongray> Tux2: Do you know anything about building firefox extensions?
[14:51]<@BC_Programming> camerongray: http://blog.mozilla.com/addons/2009/01/28/how-to-develop-a-firefox-extension/
[14:51]<@BC_Programming> you probably already found that though
[14:52]<+camerongray> Yeh - I need it very simple but seems to be very hard
[14:52]<+camerongray> Chrome was easy
[14:52]<Tux2> camerongray, not really, never had a need to...
[14:57]<+camerongray> No worries
[15:01]<@BC_Programming> which Mojang would hurry up with 1.7.3, lol
[15:01]<@BC_Programming> wish*

[15:11]<Tux2> lol BC_Programming, you want to play 1.7 on the server huh?
[15:11]<@BC_Programming> yeah... was on yesterday though
[15:12]<@BC_Programming> built the "pit of joy"
[15:13]<Tux2> lol, which is?
[15:14]<@BC_Programming> it's a 2x2 hole going to the bedrock with lava in it
[15:14]<@BC_Programming> it's near the capital building and inova, in the sand
[15:14]<@BC_Programming> with warning signs
[15:15]<Tux2> lol, I'll go take a look...

[21:30]<@BC_Programming> downloading 338MB of delphi books for some reason
[21:30]<Tux2> lol...
[21:30]<Tux2> What are you doing with delphi?
[21:30]<@BC_Programming> Not a whole lot yet
[21:30]<@BC_Programming> I have delphi prism, which works within .NET
[21:31]<Tux2> Ah, okay.
[21:31]<@BC_Programming> it's an interesting language, could be useful, and never hurts to learn another programming language :P
[21:32]<Tux2> Right now I'm looking into the minecraft code. I'm wanting to add an onRecede() listener in canary for my ClayGen plugin, which it is lacking at the moment....
[21:32]<@BC_Programming> oh dear
[21:33]<Tux2> lol, what was that for?
[21:33]<@BC_Programming> sounds messy
[21:33]<Tux2> lol, yeah, it kind of is...
[21:33]<@BC_Programming> especially since you have to decompile it so there aren't any comments and the variable names don't help either
[21:33]<Tux2> I'm reading the MCP decoded code, then going to implement it in canary.
[21:33]<@BC_Programming> ahh
[21:33]<@BC_Programming> well that helps things
[21:34]<Tux2> yeah... although that part of the MCP code isn't as well named.
[21:35]<@BC_Programming> suddenly I'm reminded of when I used to edit the duke Nukem CON files
[21:35]<@BC_Programming> and do crazy stuff like make the pistol do 9999 damage
[21:35]<Tux2> ;)
[21:39]<@BC_Programming> heh I haven't even gotten halfway through my C# & WPF book
[21:43]<Tux2> In bukkit I listen to the physics event, but in canary it only returns sand/gravel/portal events
[21:44]<@BC_Programming> not a super well thought out API... but I guess you can't really expect anything else when they don't even use packages properly
[21:45]<Tux2> lol, yeah, I think the reason is because minecraft doesn't
[21:47]<Tux2> But still, they think that it is well thought out because the api doesn't break plugins all the time...
[21:48]<Tux2> at least the users do...
[21:48]<@BC_Programming> lol
[21:48]<Tux2> Am I the only developer there that knows the advantage of event classes?
[21:48]<@BC_Programming> no
[21:48]<@BC_Programming> but maybe out of those who use canary
[21:49]<@BC_Programming> lol
[21:56]<Tux2> lol, that's what I meant
[22:05]<Tux2> Main reason for me porting my plugins to canary: add pressure to them to start making it better.
