[12:19]<+Mulreay> Good day people
[12:20]<@BC_Programming> hello Mulreay
[12:20]<@BC_Programming> just did "Don't stop me now" in flstudio as well, heh
[12:21]<+Mulreay> heh, cool
[12:21]<+Mulreay> I'm looking for a course (computers/IT) to do... they are limited though the courses
[12:21]<@BC_Programming> no idea, never taken a course myself
[12:22]<+Mulreay> My parents are paying for it
[12:22]<+Mulreay> Not sure why I added that :p
[12:23]<@BC_Programming> Also, I wouldn't really know what was available over there... Calum might be able to suggest something maybe
[12:23]<@BC_Programming> anyways http://bc-programming.com/misc/dontstop.mp3
[12:24]<+Mulreay> I'm thinking either 'keyboard and typing skills' and/or 'word 2007 introduction'... you know start at my knowledge level
[12:24]<@BC_Programming> I think you underestimate your knowledge level
[12:24]<@BC_Programming> well not sure about typing, no idea how fast you are
[12:25]<+Mulreay> heh, was joking... thinking about may be web publishing and design with HTML 4.01 and XHTML, XML
[12:25]<+Mulreay> Lot's of comptia courses
[12:25]<@BC_Programming> good idea
[12:25]<@BC_Programming> XML isn't really used for web pages... except as XHTML
[12:25]<+Mulreay> listening
[12:26]<+Mulreay> yeah, it's added on the end of the course as a sort of after thought
[12:26]<@BC_Programming> Trumpet 3G for the lead on that cover... but there is overdriven guitar in there I made sure, heh
[12:26]<+Mulreay> heh
[12:26]<+Mulreay> listening now... like the trumpet
[12:27]<+Mulreay> Still think your 'Puniverse' one was epic
[12:27]<@BC_Programming> yeah I think that went well
[12:27]<+Mulreay> Can't help but sing a long in my head
[12:28]<+Mulreay> I can imagine 'john deacon' on Trumpet

[12:29]<@GlitchPC> Hello, Graham
[12:29]<@BC_Programming> yeah I think they actually use an overdriven guitar for the solo
[12:29]<@BC_Programming> Hi Steve
[12:29]<@GlitchPC> Hello, Mike
[12:29]<+Mulreay> Hows Steve today?
[12:29]<@GlitchPC> Eh...
[12:30]<@GlitchPC> You?
[12:30]<+Mulreay> Meh...
[12:30]<+Mulreay> Good rendition that BC_Programming
[12:30]<@BC_Programming> yeah I'm experimenting with some instruments now
[12:30]<+Mulreay> cool
[12:31]<@BC_Programming> oh did you hear by hammer to fall one as well?
[12:31]<+Mulreay> Steve, BC_Programming has started a digital tribute band
[12:31]<@BC_Programming> lol
[12:31]<@GlitchPC> tribute to whom?
[12:31]<@BC_Programming> http://bc-programming.com/misc/hammer.mp3
[12:31]<+Mulreay> Everyone and everything it would seem
[12:31]<@BC_Programming> So far only queen... and NES games, heh
[12:32]<+Mulreay> listening
[12:32]<@BC_Programming> oh yeah and the show intro themes
[12:32]<@BC_Programming> the SG-1 one came out freaking awesome
[12:32]<+Mulreay> Sounds good, will never have that 'PUNCH' the real song has though...
[12:33]<+Mulreay> Still amazed how you marry the instuments up to suite... plus the guitars
[12:34]<+Mulreay> Never enough guitars
[12:34]<@BC_Programming> I usually add more guitars then they had heh
[12:34]<@BC_Programming> "hmm, can't decide wether to make this a bell or a trumpet
[12:34]<@BC_Programming> so I'll make it an overdriven guitar
[12:34]<+Mulreay> lol
[12:35]<@BC_Programming> oh yeah it's the longer one too
[12:35]<+Mulreay> sounds cool
[12:36]<@GlitchPC> I wanna hear some synthesized Kansa
[12:36]<@GlitchPC> Kansas*
[12:36]<@BC_Programming> heh
[12:36]<@GlitchPC> SPecifically, The Wall
[12:37]<@GlitchPC> That was good
[12:37]<@BC_Programming> For years a puzzle has filled mankind's thoughts
[12:38]<@BC_Programming> "what would The Next Generation theme sound like with only xylophones"

[13:28]<+Mulreay> cool, was doing my nut in yesterday
[13:28]<@BC_Programming> yeah I think it was because there were so many more people connected then usual
[13:28]<+Mulreay> I meant to ask, did you record any of that Yourself, Craig and me adventure we had?
[13:28]<@BC_Programming> me Craig and Jesse weren't affected as much since we are all in Canada so much closer... but you and Cam were having a hell of a time
[13:29]<+Mulreay> yeah, good point
[13:30]<@BC_Programming> apparently there is a Minecraft clone for the Xbox 360
[13:33]<+Mulreay> mmm
[13:33]<@BC_Programming> still laggy?
[13:34]<+Mulreay> Yeah, blocks are just re-building as I destroy them
[13:37]<+Mulreay> That is an EPIC rip-off
[13:37]<@BC_Programming> totally
[13:38]<@BC_Programming> it's funny because there are defenders of it saying that it is like how there were a lot of Doom clones
[13:38]<@BC_Programming> of course what they fail to notice is that the "doom clones" weren't exactly the bloody same
[13:38]<@BC_Programming> warranted, it looks pretty cool, but still
[13:38]<+Mulreay> I can't see it happening and I hope Mojang take them for everything if it gets released
[13:38]<@BC_Programming> it's not illegal
[13:38]<+Mulreay> true
[13:38]<+Mulreay> was just hoping
[13:39]<@BC_Programming> they can't do anything about it, legally. After all, they rewrote it themselves.
[13:39]<@BC_Programming> the problem is it's only 3 dollars
[13:39]<+Mulreay> Can you patent game ideas?
[13:39]<@BC_Programming> I'm guessing it's sub-par in a lot of ways
[13:40]<@BC_Programming> yes. but Mojang couldn't patent the "idea" of minecraft because it is built upon the ideas of other games
[13:40]<@BC_Programming> infiniminer, Dungeon keeper, etc
[13:40]<+Mulreay> Like you say it's just minecraft with a new lick of paint
[13:40]<@BC_Programming> yeah but consider for a moment- does anybody "remember" any of the "doom clones"?
[13:40]<@BC_Programming> I sure as hell don't
[13:40]<+Mulreay> nope
[13:40]<@BC_Programming> that's because everybody recognizes them for what they are- same will happen here
[13:41]<@BC_Programming> no doubt it's a sub-par execution of minecraft anyway, they just try to hide it behind flashy graphics
[13:41]<@BC_Programming> the land generation looks bloody simplistic for one thing
[13:41]<+Mulreay> Best thing mojang could do is make it cross platform for consoles.. people would pick that up rather than the new one
[13:41]<@BC_Programming> yeah
[13:41]<@BC_Programming> except releasing a console game costs lots of money
[13:42]<@BC_Programming> to the point where Microsoft would probably make a bigger profit off of it
[13:42]<+Mulreay> true, but can generate LOTS back... it's already a global phenomenon
[13:42]<@BC_Programming> The game isn't even finished yet anyway
[13:42]<+Mulreay> Yeah good point
[13:42]<@BC_Programming> And- that game is only for XBox 360, no PS3 or Wii or anything version
[13:42]<@BC_Programming> I'm thinking that Fortresscraft will be playing catch up the whole time anyway
[13:43]<+Mulreay> Yeah, waiting for MC to update and then chasing behind following there ideas
[13:44]<+Mulreay> They will add some random twists to the game, but can't see it being anything MC does not offer, or if it does not offer probably does not need to
[13:44]<@BC_Programming> somebody was saying that it adds the new feature of a "survival" mode where you have to build a fortress and defend it
[13:45]<+Mulreay> mmmm
[13:45]<@BC_Programming> except that's not even close to new, Notch was writing about that on his blog as a possible feature
[13:45]<@BC_Programming> Zombie survival or something
[13:45]<+Mulreay> yeah
[13:45]<+Mulreay> remember something about that

[14:24]<+Mulreay> I'm probably sticking my neck out for the noose but... when you mention that consoles should not have HDD's.. the PS3 uses the HDD to store things like, videos, pictures and demos. More importantly the HDD is used for gaming, as when you purchase a new game, game info is saved to the HDD I assume for faster speeds in loading. Plus the save games for all your games are on there, rather than
[14:24]<+Mulreay> 'lets be fair' a memory card which is as sorts a version of an external HDD.
[14:26]<@BC_Programming> the PS3, Wii, and XBox & XBox 360 are only consoles in name
[14:27]<@BC_Programming> really they are just special Purpose personal computers... that holds true especially with the XBox's, since they actually run a PC OS
[14:27]<+Mulreay> Yeah, there more 'multi-purpose media centres' now
[14:27]<@BC_Programming> yeah
[14:27]<@BC_Programming> but that's what I mean, in that they aren't really "consoles" anymore, they are "better" in many ways
[14:27]<+Mulreay> Plus you 'used' to be able to install linux on your PS3
[14:27]<@BC_Programming> but with that "betterness" you have the problems of the PC... like hard drive crashes
[14:28]<+Mulreay> true
[14:28]<Tux2> Lol, of course.... I turn old xbox systems into multimedia centers
[14:28]<@BC_Programming> ahh hello Tux2
[14:29]<Tux2> Hi bc
[14:29]<+Mulreay> hey Tux2, Xbox has the advantage with a great connectivity with your home computer... obviously by design the PS3 is less than capable
[14:30]<+Mulreay> there was a , after design
[14:31]<Tux2> Lol, I'm talking about the original xbox. There is a mod I do to make it work
[14:33]<+Mulreay> k
[14:33]<+Mulreay> Shame Sony removed the ability to add Linux to the PS3.. mistake on there part
[14:33]<Tux2> I wouldn't really want to touch an xbox 360, especially with the red rings of death so prevalent.....
[14:34]<+Mulreay> Yeah my PS3 has recently had it's YLOD (yellow light of death' now just a very expensive paper weight with a blu-ray drive
[14:34]<Tux2> Ugh....
[14:34]<+Mulreay> indeed
[14:35]<@BC_Programming> crap
[14:35]<@BC_Programming> I just checked

[14:35]<@BC_Programming> seems that my SNES PPU is starting a slow road to failure

[14:36]<+Mulreay> BC_Programming lol how come
[14:37]<@BC_Programming> well one reason might be that it is like 20 years old
[14:37]<+Mulreay> hence the lol
[14:37]<@BC_Programming> but I checked, MegamanX occasionally has glitches when you beat the robot masters... nothing extreme, but the power meter glitches a bit, so I just checked, and the same thing doesn't happen in ZSNES
[14:38]<@BC_Programming> On the bright side, at least a real SNES can play Super Mario RPG properly, ZSNES freezes

[14:44]<+Mulreay> 256MB XDR Main RAM @3.2GHz -CPU
[14:44]<+Mulreay> 256MB GDDR3 VRAM @700MHz-GPU
[14:44]<@BC_Programming> oh yeah forget the Mhz of the SNES CPU
[14:45]<@BC_Programming> 65c816. maximum clock rate of 3.58 Mhz
[14:45]<+Mulreay> lol, that could not run my toaster..
[14:46]<+Mulreay> I just wish I had a Red Dwarf toaster
[14:46]<@BC_Programming> I cannot even run a good SNES emulator on my current machine, because the original hardware requires so much
[14:46]<+Mulreay> Would you like some muffins?
[14:46]<+Mulreay> OHHHHHH, just thought of a GREAT idea how to use my other shellium port
[14:47]<+Mulreay> A bot that acts like the toaster from Red Dwarf... just keeps asking people in the channel if they want bread based products... the script should not be to hard... oohh I like that
[14:49]<+Mulreay> BC_Programming I can't play N64 games on this laptop remember... they take a chunk
[14:50]<@BC_Programming> I said SNES... that's older
[14:50]<@BC_Programming> of course I can run ZSNES, which to be fair is a good SNES emulator... it's just not a accurate one is all
[14:50]<+Mulreay> Yeah I get that
[14:51]<@BC_Programming> The reason why console games are able to use less RAM and stuff is because they have exclusive access to all the resources of the machine, and they are usually written so that they are well optimized for it
[14:52]<+Mulreay> ahh
[14:54]<+Mulreay> mmmm need to speak to pottsi to see if I can have another port... easier to manage on pottsi's shell than shelliums
[14:55]<+Mulreay> less red tape

[14:56]<+Mulreay> There's a course here for 'javascript' is that worth anything BC_Programming?
[14:56]<@BC_Programming> wouldn't know
[14:56]<@BC_Programming> I don't use javascript often to be fair
[14:56]<+Mulreay> Is C++ better?
[14:58]<@BC_Programming> um
[14:58]<@BC_Programming> they have completely different use cases
[14:58]<@BC_Programming> you can't really use javascript for an application, for example
[14:59]<@BC_Programming> but it is used for plugins in a lot of stuff, like firefox
[14:59]<@BC_Programming> really it doesn't matter, once you know one programming languages it "greases the wheels" so to speak to learn more
[15:00]<+Mulreay> Well I can rough my way through TCL... but that is quite useless I assume
[15:00]<@BC_Programming> I don't know
[15:01]<+Mulreay> k
[15:03]<+Mulreay> I'm thinking od a computer course, I would like to do a programming course so atleast I can follow some of your conversations... would would have the better application in the real world? Java, C++? sorry to bother you with it but would love to know your opinion as a respected programmer
[15:03]<+Mulreay> so many typos
[15:04]<@BC_Programming> Like I said, doesn't really matter, once you know one you have an easier time picking up others
[15:04]<+Mulreay> Was writing another message as well as that... lost track
[15:04]<@BC_Programming> what's important are teh concepts
[15:04]<@BC_Programming> like Object oriented Programming and understanding references and such
[15:05]<@BC_Programming> any courses on a language- particularly Java, would cover that; but at the same time if you start with Java you skip over knowing some "low-level" stuff that can sometimes be important
[15:05]<+Mulreay> ahhh
[15:05]<@BC_Programming> like pointers and proper memory management, since Java manages all that for you
[15:05]<+Mulreay> That's what I wanted to hear
[15:05]<+Mulreay> So C++ then, I'm not into short cuts
[15:06]<@BC_Programming> but at the same time, since you don't have to worry about the "little things" it makes programming easier... that's why I use C#, it's quite similar to Java in many ways
[15:06]<+Mulreay> What's the difference between C# and C++
[15:06]<@BC_Programming> oh that's a tricky question
[15:07]<+Mulreay> heh sorry
[15:07]<@BC_Programming> I'll do a search, maybe I can find an informative article

[23:32]<@GlitchPC> has to be the host...I think...or I'm missing a setting
[23:33]<Craig> Have you checked the SMTP server to see if its actually sending?
[23:33]<Tux2> Hey GlitchPC, can I take a look at the setup using teamviewer?
[23:33]<@GlitchPC> anyhow, both of you have been configured as Registerd Users, so you should be able to login with the info you provided at registration
[23:33] * Tux2 is logged in :D
[23:34]<@GlitchPC> not without giving you admin acces to the boards...and you'd have to talk to Calum about that
[23:34]<@GlitchPC> sorry
[23:34]<@GlitchPC> BC_Programming...you there?
[23:35]<Tux2> GlitchPC, I was talking about just looking at your screen...
[23:35]<@GlitchPC> heh
[23:35]<@GlitchPC> hang on
[23:35]<@GlitchPC> working on a couple of things at the moment
[23:36]<Tux2> okay
[23:39]<@BC_Programming> sorry I'm here
[23:42]<@GlitchPC> Mike...have you received any recent emails from the board about new Glossary entries?
[23:42]<@BC_Programming> let me check
[23:43]<@BC_Programming> nope
[23:44]<@GlitchPC> this really sucks, man...and I'm so freakin' tired...workin' on fixing a couple of mods. Check to see if you got any PMs, too on the board
[23:44]<@BC_Programming> I got the PMs for glossary entries
[23:45]<@GlitchPC> cool
[23:45]<@GlitchPC> brb
[23:46]<@GlitchPC> Guys...check your settings in your profiles to make sure you've checked to receive email from the board
[23:50]<Tux2> I have.
[23:51] * Tux2 (Tux2@mib-59EC7A0.hlrn.qwest.net) Quit (Quit: function unplugComputer() { closeOpenPrograms(); shutDownComputer(); pullPowercordFromOutlet(); walkAway(); return false;})
[23:56]<@GlitchPC> Too tired to think at the moment...working on fixing a Glossary glitch...pardon the pun
