[21:44]<@BC_Programming> FUUUUU
[21:49]<@BC_Programming> whew
[21:49]<@BC_Programming> dodged the bullet again
[21:50]<@BC_Programming> finally got BaseBlock working on my laptop, just had to resolve a few issues
[21:50]<@BC_Programming> decided to use the installer on my desktop where I am working on it, all is well
[21:50]<@BC_Programming> then I uninstalled it... oops
[21:50]<@BC_Programming> that wiped out the same Application Data folder my developing version uses :P
[22:01]<Tux2> lol!!!
[22:01]<@BC_Programming> hilariously enough I recovered them by simply copying the APPDATA folder that the installer put on my laptop
[22:02]<@BC_Programming> although come to think of it I could have simply reinstalled it on the desktop as well
[22:02]<Tux2> tee hee. ;)
[22:02]<Tux2> I'm in the middle of editing a font...
[22:03]<Tux2> Did you know that the safari browser on the Mac will not automatically make bold and italic versions of a font???
[22:03]<@BC_Programming> I think the automatic creation of bold/italic depend on the rasterizer
[22:03]<Tux2> Yeah...
[22:04]<@BC_Programming> and, also, Mac is pretty keen on the whole "make fonts look like they were designed" rather then "make them easy to read" in a lot of ways
[22:04]<Tux2> Well, usually fonts supply all the bold/italic combinations, but the font we wanted to use, didn't...
[22:04]<Tux2> So right now I am using FontForge to create the bold and italic aka oblique versions of the font...
[22:05]<@BC_Programming> yeah... so if they didn't design it with them, Apple basically says "well obviously you don't want to see a font that has algorithmically generated boldness or Italics! How delightfully absurd"
[22:05]<Tux2> lol, of course!
[22:05]<@BC_Programming> isn't oblique like a backwards slanted Italic?
[22:06]<Tux2> No, italics is a specially designed font that has extra stuff... oblique fonts are just slanted versions of the fonts...
[22:06]<@BC_Programming> oh I see what you mean
[22:07]<@BC_Programming> ahh... yes the mac doesn't do the pretty simply skewing that it <could> do
[22:07]<Tux2> lol, of course...
[22:07]<Tux2> Funny enough, Firefox on the Mac does what it is supposed to and generates the bold and italic versions...
[22:08]<@BC_Programming> Yeah I'm pretty sure they designed Safari to not do that
[22:08]<@BC_Programming> heck they had enough hubris to actually use their own custom rasterizer in the windows version
[22:10]<Tux2> Ugh, the ~ in the font I downloaded isn
[22:10]<Tux2> isn't a ~ at all, it's an ad...
[22:10]<@BC_Programming> an advert? wtf
[22:11]<Tux2> typodermic Larabie fonts...
[22:11]<Tux2> lol, I'm changing to the better coolvetica that I downloaded...
[22:12]<Tux2> Besides, this other one looks like it has more of the characters...
[22:12]<@BC_Programming> Fonts are a pain in the behind
[22:12]<Tux2> I'm using FontForge to edit them...
[22:12]<@BC_Programming> I wasted so much time on that silly "Law and Order:Special Citrus unit" thing just finding the right font heh
[22:13]<@BC_Programming> I can't remember the font editor I used to use, I generally didn't really have a whole lot of enthusiasm for the whole "yay create your own version of 65536 characters" thing
[22:14]<Tux2> lol!
[22:14]<Tux2> I have a feeling that now that I have the font editor the guy is going to ask for some of the letters to be changed up a bit...
[22:16]<@BC_Programming> oh dear... I hope this isn't a website
[22:16]<Tux2> lol, it's an embedded font that he "can't live without"
[22:17]<@BC_Programming> Comic sans?
[22:17]<@BC_Programming> heh
[22:17]<Tux2> It's the free version of Helvetica New, or Coolvetica
[22:18]<@BC_Programming> ew
[22:18]<Tux2> lol, yeah, I have a feeling that it is just going to be used for certain parts of the website though...
[22:19]<@BC_Programming> sure hope so
[22:19]<Tux2> He's coming from the Print world where everything you design looks exactly the same when printed...
[22:21]<@BC_Programming> He's in for quite a surprise
[22:21]<Tux2> lol, yeah, I've been transitioning him over, but it's going to take a while...

[23:06]<Tux2> Bummer...
[23:07]<@BC_Programming> ahh it's working now
[23:07]<@BC_Programming> no idea what happened. Very annoying because it was right as I was trying to upload the installer
[23:18]<Tux2> lol
