Session Ident: #glitchpc
[00:00] * Now talking in #glitchpc
[00:00] * Topic is 'Welcome to #glitchpc chat. Profanity, trolls, and impersonation are not welcome here. Street1 has become a Silent Keyboard. http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/savannah/obituary.aspx?page=lifestory&pid=139870551'
[00:00] * Set by jacky on Tue Mar 02 11:03:23
[00:01]<@BC_Programming> I'll probably make a "surviving the first night" video first, heh
[00:01]<+Mulreay> good idea
[00:03]<@BC_Programming> and trust me that's no small feat with the damned more creatures mod installed
[00:03]<+Mulreay> heh i bet
[00:29]<@BC_Programming> not sure if I can call it surviving the first night now
[00:29]<@BC_Programming> wasn't doing an awful lot of the former
[00:29]<+Mulreay> lol
[00:29]<@BC_Programming> but I think it is entertaining nonetheless
[00:30]<@BC_Programming> plenty of swearing for all
[00:30]<+Mulreay> cool
[00:30]<@BC_Programming> I spent the entire night respawning, running back to my house, trying to grab my stuff and inevitably being killed by the huge number of enemies
[00:31]<+Mulreay> heh
[00:31]<@BC_Programming> I put it quite well after about the 5th time
[00:31]<@BC_Programming> "this is starting to annoy me"

[16:27]<+Mulreay> Man this is one minecraft marathon
[16:27]<@BC_Programming> I have returned
[16:27]<+Mulreay> hey BC_Programming
[16:29]<+Mulreay> http://imagebin.org/133577 http://imagebin.org/133636 this is how I've been keeping busy
[16:33]<@BC_Programming> cool
[16:34]<+Mulreay> That castle was just a tester for my big 'Castle in a cloud' project... just wanted to test how it will look
[16:47]<@BC_Programming> o I posted that minecraft vid heh
[16:48]<+Mulreay> Yeah I commented on it :p
[16:48]<+Mulreay> see I subscribe to you so I get to see your new vids :p
[16:48]<@BC_Programming> heh
[16:49]<@BC_Programming> there is some minecraft person subscribed to me as well, at least I think he is since his pic is a minecraft skeleton
[16:49]<+Mulreay> cool
[16:49]<+Mulreay> Always nice when people subscribe to you aint it
[16:50]<@BC_Programming> I don't know when they subscribed... my brother was the one who noticed
[16:50]<+Mulreay> I would'nt know, hardly anyone EVER subscribes to me
[16:50]<@BC_Programming> you know what would be awesome, if minecraft was open source
[16:51]<+Mulreay> ok I'm done with the hinting
[16:51]<@BC_Programming> yes I saw the hinting
[16:51]<+Mulreay> heh
[16:52]<+Mulreay> did you see ashens new video?
[16:53]<@BC_Programming> yeah have it open now, gonna get a cuppa first :P
[16:53]<+Mulreay> cool
[17:02] * Tux2 (Tux2@E33E54F6.8F502EB6.39CF04D1.IP) Quit (Ping timeout)
[17:05]<@BC_Programming> mulreay in the second pic is that your original house in the background there?
[17:05]<+Mulreay> yeah
[17:05]<@BC_Programming> haha cool
[17:05]<@BC_Programming> on my world 5 where I have the glass fort my spawn point is miles away from it
[17:05]<+Mulreay> it's my 'extension' and I should say, I actually made all that glass... my house is on a beach after all
[17:06]<@BC_Programming> I just have a little house near my spawn point with my first caverns
[17:06]<@BC_Programming> if you start mining your materials again w/o the editor you should try strip mining, I can often get diamond tools within a half hour or so
[17:07]<+Mulreay> Mine is all around my house.. the name, the castle in the cloud and the tower.. also the 'pit' is inside the mountain behind my house that I dug through to
[17:07]<+Mulreay> cool
[17:07]<+Mulreay> I respawn just behind the huge 'Mulreay'
[17:08]<+Mulreay> Don't think I could handle a far away respawn...
[17:08]<+Mulreay> Just created something new as well, wait for day to come and I will post a pic
[17:09]<+Mulreay> It was a bit bigger than I first thought of doing
[17:12]<+Mulreay> needsome help atually when you have time
[17:14]<@BC_Programming> k
[17:14]<+Mulreay> free now?
[17:14]<@BC_Programming> yeah
[17:14]<+Mulreay> cool
[17:14] * Koopa516 (Mibbit@mib-8E4B7922.hsd1.fl.comcast.net) has joined #glitchpc

[17:15]<+Mulreay> I want to format a partition on my EHDD to fat32
[17:15]<@BC_Programming> k
[17:15]<+Mulreay> I'm in management and can see the partition...
[17:15]<+Mulreay> right click to format
[17:16]<+Mulreay> but there is not option for fat32 only exFat
[17:16]<@BC_Programming> the partition is too big
[17:16]<+Mulreay> 150gb
[17:16]<@BC_Programming> Win XP and later refuse to format any drive larger then... I think it's 2GB or so- as FAT32
[17:16]<+Mulreay> ahh ok
[17:17]<+Mulreay> I'm only doing this as I need to back up my PS3
[17:17]<@BC_Programming> It's stupid because you can format a drive that way, it just doesn't let you for no reason
[17:17]<+Mulreay> any advice on tools?
[17:17]<@BC_Programming> ahh the size limit is 32GB
[17:17]<@BC_Programming> yeah just searching myself here
[17:17]<+Mulreay> cool thx
[17:17]<@BC_Programming> aside from just using win98 to format the drive, heh
[17:18]<+Mulreay> heh
[17:18]<@BC_Programming> ahh here is a how-to guide of sorts
[17:18]<@BC_Programming> http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/430358-creating-big-fat32-partitions-in-windows-xp/
[17:18]<+Mulreay> looking
[17:20]<+Mulreay> cool, will have to do it through the other laptop
[17:21] * pottsi (Mibbit@pottsi.staff.mibbit.net) Quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
[17:22]<+Mulreay> mmm unless I did it through linux on this laptop... but 'can worms' 'open everywhere' springs to mind
[17:22]<@BC_Programming> hmm minecraft just "updated" to the same version it was, yet again
[17:22]<@BC_Programming> may stay with it this time
[17:23]<@BC_Programming> with one exception: the map thing
[17:23]<@BC_Programming> I like the map mod :P
[17:24]<+Mulreay> how are you getting on with the crashes?
[17:24]<@BC_Programming> well I haven't played for a while and the new file I haven't explored so much
[17:25]<@BC_Programming> it's not so much that it crashes but rather that it seems that one particular chunk causes all sorts of lag
[17:25]<+Mulreay> ahh
[17:25]<@BC_Programming> it's probably that lighting mod I had "ambient occlusion" but it could be any number of things... I don't think it's the map one, though, since I used that for quite some time before I started having the issue
[17:25]<@BC_Programming> will stick with "vanilla+map" for now
[17:26]<@BC_Programming> nice thing is the map mod has a easy to use installer
[17:26]<@BC_Programming> everything else I have to fiddle about with the jar files, and half the time I just get the minecraft black screen of death after the initial login
[17:27]<@BC_Programming> actually come to think of it I was sort of cheating when we were playing multiplayer, since i had a map lol
[17:28]<@BC_Programming> this new World1 has some peculiar terrain in the distance, looks like a 1 block wide/long spire going all the way to the top of the world
[17:34]<+Mulreay> cool
[17:34]<@BC_Programming> yeah may stick with vanilla w/o mods at all
[17:35]<@BC_Programming> too much work making sure they all work and seems to cause problems down the road after days of effort on buildings and etc.
[17:35]<+Mulreay> yeah
[17:35]<@BC_Programming> wonder if this makes my world5 playable again? will check later, would hate to lose my glass fort
[17:35]<@BC_Programming> don't really like it though since most of that world was generated with alpha so it doesn't have any of the changes to the generator
[17:36]<+Mulreay> I don't mind the original stuff
[17:36]<@BC_Programming> yeah but there isn't any lapis which I need for my sprite drawings
[17:37]<+Mulreay> true
[17:37]<@BC_Programming> that's why my megaman and kirby had to be built like a million miles from my spawn point
[17:37]<@BC_Programming> that's actually when I encountered the lag, I was trying to walk all the way there instead of taking a nether portal
[17:37]<+Mulreay> Oh I forgot to mention something else notch mentioned... he's considering weather
[17:38]<@BC_Programming> yeah I think there was a sort of weather in earlier versions, there is a forum thread about it
[17:38]<@BC_Programming> but the suggestion is pretty much "emulate everything about the weather" which is stupid
[17:41]<@BC_Programming> wow I just got like 8 more diamond from my strip mine
[17:42]<@BC_Programming> this is very lucrative
[17:42]<@BC_Programming> and I don't have to worry about those ogres or those ghost things that set me on fire
[17:43]<@BC_Programming> hmm that was rather odd
[17:43]<@BC_Programming> I looked down a dark corridor and saw something on fire walking towards me
[17:43]<@BC_Programming> a creeper
[17:43]<@BC_Programming> wonder how it got on fire
[17:44]<@BC_Programming> there is only one explanation, obviously there are ghosts haunting the game!
[17:44]<@BC_Programming> heh
[17:44]<@BC_Programming> it's possible it was the lava that he came out of
[17:44]<@BC_Programming> but the only way to be sure is to hire some ghost whispereres
[17:46]<@BC_Programming> hey mulreay did you know you can use pumpkins as a helmet?
[17:50]<+Mulreay> lol no
[17:50]<@BC_Programming> heh yeah it's screwy
[17:50]<@BC_Programming> wonder what use it has
[17:50]<+Mulreay> BC_Programming I decided to use CMD instead but worried that the next key press will end me if it's wrong... can I post a pic to you?
[17:50]<@BC_Programming> ok
[17:51]<+Mulreay> thx one sec
[17:52]<+Mulreay> http://imagebin.org/133642
[17:52]<@BC_Programming> assuming M: is the drive to format that should do it
[17:52]<+Mulreay> that is the partition yes
[17:52]<@BC_Programming> although I'm not sure if format will even let you choose FAT32 for a drive larger then 32GB
[17:53]<+Mulreay> soon find out :?
[17:53]<+Mulreay> it says formatting 150000m so......
[17:54]<@BC_Programming> ahh good
[17:54]<+Mulreay> and the partition is 150gb so fingers crossed
[17:54]<+Mulreay> now there's something to remember
[17:56]<+Mulreay> ok 1 percent done... seems it's gonna take a fair while
[17:58]<+Mulreay> oh this is what I was doing before http://imagebin.org/133644 I added a waterfall for effect
[17:58]<@BC_Programming> cool
[17:58]<@BC_Programming> you should make channels so that the water flows over the glass hallways
[17:59]<@BC_Programming> or get/give yourself lava, and then put pools of lava on top for light
[17:59]<+Mulreay> yeah that would be cool
[17:59]<+Mulreay> I have another idea for lava and obsidian... it's gonna be EPIC if I ever start it and pull it off
[18:03]<+Mulreay> BC_Programming how long as far as you can remember has this limit been on FAT32 partitions/drives?
[18:04]<@BC_Programming> no
[18:04]<@BC_Programming> like I said it's XP and later
[18:04]<+Mulreay> when was XP started?
[18:04]<@BC_Programming> 2001
[18:05]<+Mulreay> yeah that makes sense
[18:05]<@BC_Programming> but it has nothing to do with XP supporting it, XP can use FAT32 drives larger then 32GB with no problems whatsoever
[18:05]<@BC_Programming> it just refuses to format them is all
[18:05]<+Mulreay> yeah just doing some digging
[18:07]<+Mulreay> I feel it's more along the lines of when things like the ps2 came out and of course linux was around for some time. I think they just wanted to make the drives non-usable across multiple platforms..
[18:08]<+Mulreay> I'm probably wrong though
[18:08]<@BC_Programming> no
[18:08]<@BC_Programming> they wanted to get people to use NTFS
[18:08]<@BC_Programming> like I said XP/Vista/7 can still use FAT32 drivers larger then 32GB without any issues
[18:08]<+Mulreay> Because it is more effecient
[18:09]<@BC_Programming> yeah
[18:09]<+Mulreay> I don't pretend to know the difference between them two, how they behave etc
[18:11]<+Mulreay> already covered 13.5mb hoooo exciting
[18:11]<+Mulreay> doh, I meant gb
[18:13]<+Mulreay> ok we reached the 15gb point... start getting nervous now
[18:15]<sonicrules1234> Mulreay: Why and what are you formatting to fat32?
[18:16]<+Mulreay> For my PS3 and what else would I convert to FAT32?
[18:16]<sonicrules1234> :o
[18:17]<sonicrules1234> PS3 only works with fat32?
[18:17]<sonicrules1234> Lame
[18:17]<+Mulreay> It's just for a backup
[18:18]<@BC_Programming> at least PS3 uses an actual documented format
[18:18]<@BC_Programming> to my understanding the wii uses a completely proprietary filesystem
[18:18]<sonicrules1234> Haha
[18:18]<sonicrules1234> Yeah, that's true
[18:18]<@BC_Programming> personally I don't have any plans to ever buy a console that has a hard drive
[18:19]<@BC_Programming> once you add a hard drive, you cross the threshold from a game console to a stripped down PC
[18:19]<sonicrules1234> BC_Programming: Only memory cards an cartriges?
[18:19]<@BC_Programming> aye
[18:19]<+Mulreay> and emulators...
[18:20]<@BC_Programming> SNES and GC IRL and emus of course for anything else
[18:20]<@BC_Programming> which includes Wii games in fact
[18:20]<sonicrules1234> Emulator saves on the filesystem
[18:20]<@BC_Programming> yes? And?
[18:20]<sonicrules1234> We were talking about things that aren't using a filesystem
[18:20]<sonicrules1234> Well
[18:20]<+Mulreay> I have an Amiga emu and a N64 one, but the N64 one does not work on this lapytop
[18:20]<@BC_Programming> no we weren't
[18:20]<@BC_Programming> I said "I don't have any plans to ever buy a console that has a hard drive"
[18:20]<sonicrules1234> Well, hard drives
[18:21]<sonicrules1234> Yeah
[18:21]<@BC_Programming> doesn't say anything about filesystems
[18:21]<sonicrules1234> Emulators save onto your hard drive
[18:21]<@BC_Programming> but my PC isn't a console
[18:21]<sonicrules1234> Ah
[18:21]<+Mulreay> Ahh the epic you said, we said... when we can all read back... not as good as talking pissed in the pub with your mates hoping they forgot
[18:22]<sonicrules1234> Huh?
[18:23]<+Mulreay> What's the answer to Huh? When it is feelslike a Huh?
[18:24]<+Mulreay> I feel like saying Huh? but that seems like copying
[18:24]<@BC_Programming> that block pillar in the distance is starting to pique my curiousity
[18:24]<@BC_Programming> my have to build a boat and investigate
[18:25]<+Mulreay> heh, go scale it
[18:25]<+Mulreay> Build a 'lighthouse' at the top
[18:25]<@BC_Programming> heh yeah but it's like... one block wide and long
[18:25]<@BC_Programming> that would look mess up... but I think I may just because of that
[18:26]<+Mulreay> just put a pumpkin on there
[18:26]<@BC_Programming> heh
[18:27]<+Mulreay> 18% in so that's what 26-27
[18:27]<+Mulreay> gb's that is
[18:28]<@BC_Programming> therabouts
[18:30]<+Mulreay> Do you know what the biggest problem with MS is in my humble opinion
[18:31]<@BC_Programming> wut
[18:31]<+Mulreay> There are only 4 sides to everything
[18:31]<@BC_Programming> um
[18:31]<@BC_Programming> not sure what you mean
[18:31]<+Mulreay> I can't position my new building at an angle to my house
[18:32]<@BC_Programming> err
[18:32]<@BC_Programming> oh
[18:32]<@BC_Programming> you mean MC, not MS
[18:32]<@BC_Programming> confused me there
[18:32]<@BC_Programming> lol
[18:32]<+Mulreay> oooops
[18:32]<+Mulreay> lol
[18:32]<@BC_Programming> I was all "wtf"
[18:33]<+Mulreay> I was thinking why is bc like what?
[18:34]<@BC_Programming> but technically in minecraft everything has 6 sides :P
[18:34]<+Mulreay> of course, but I mean multiple block building with flat sides
[18:35]<@BC_Programming> ya
[18:35]<+Mulreay> I know there is the top and bottom
[18:35]<@BC_Programming> maybe he'll add like an angled type of block you can craft from most things
[18:35]<@BC_Programming> sorta like stairs but on their side
[18:35]<+Mulreay> that would be cool
[18:36]<+Mulreay> Like a Icosahedron I had to go on my site to get the correct spelling... joke failed at that point
[18:37]<@BC_Programming> lol
[18:37]<@BC_Programming> I was thinking more like a triangular prism
[18:38]<+Mulreay> yeah that would be cool... or even prisms that are both upright and upside down
[18:39]<+Mulreay> You could have the worlds spikeist room ever
[18:39]<@BC_Programming> heh
[18:46]<+Mulreay> Man this effort should get me an award on MC awards, not that there are any but hey there's an idea for a youtube channel
[19:00]<+Mulreay> Oh and if anyone feels like stealing that idea I have mIRC logs to time stamp it... mwahhh haaa haaa... only gidding. But don't my idea!! :)
[19:27]<sonicrules1234> Possum
[19:27] * sonicrules1234 runs
[19:27]<+Mulreay> Why run... it's bears you should be bothered about
[19:28]<sonicrules1234> No, BC_Programming has like, patented that word in this channel. Last time I said it he got mad
[19:29]<+Mulreay> ohh I never knew about that... possums really... mm bc and possums
[19:30]<+Mulreay> Seems a shocking mix
[19:30]<+Mulreay> whhoooo hoooo I hit 50% so that's like 75gb or maybe 74 or possibly 76..
[19:31]<+Mulreay> there never done in fractions and you always round up
[19:31]<+Mulreay> from .5% that is
[19:32]<+Mulreay> or .4% respectavely
[19:32]<+Mulreay> swop them
[19:35]<+Mulreay> BC_Programming is either writing an epic comment in CH or he's, writing another mind boggling blog post, or he's helping under-privaliged children in his local area, or he's hunting, or he's playing minecraft, or he's making a new youtube video, or he's having a cup of Earl Grey, or he's smoking me a kipper or he's asleep, or he's gone to work....
[19:36]<+Mulreay> Thinking... where else he could be...
[19:38]<+Mulreay> ohh ohh we should take into account that he is bored and gone off to something far more fulfilling with his life, like paint sheep or catch cows... possibly snatch fairies or maybe catch firelight
[19:39]<+Mulreay> Or he could be taking a dump!!
