[08:53] <@Calum> hey
[09:09] <camerongray> Hey Calum
[09:09] <camerongray> Hey jacky
[09:09] <@jacky> camerongray: Hello
[09:09] <@jacky> Calum: Hello
[09:09] <@jacky> not used to seeing Calum there ahead of me
[09:09] <@Calum> heh
[09:09] <@jacky> overlooked him
[09:09] <@jacky> what's new?
[09:09] <@Calum> I'm easily overlooked I guess
[09:09] <@jacky> (addressed to the both of you...)
[09:10] <@jacky> har
[09:10] <@Calum> car is back in the garage on Tuesday :(
[09:10] <@jacky> ah!
[09:10] <@jacky> discovered the cause?
[09:10] <@jacky> collected any more data?
[09:10] <@Calum> not discovered the cause but there's definitely a leak
[09:10] <@Calum> I can't find it, at all
[09:10] <@Calum> when the engine is cold/hot, on/off, etc, no leak
[09:10] <@jacky> gremlins , then
[09:10] <@jacky> that must be it
[09:10] <@Calum> yep
[09:11] <@jacky> how long does it take to show a drop though?
[09:11] <@Calum> well, put it this way
[09:11] <@Calum> it was full...drove around 150-200 miles, and it was almost empty
[09:11] <@jacky> that's bad
[09:11] <@Calum> well, empty enough to raise the temp again
[09:11] <@Calum> yeah
[09:12] <@jacky> <@Calum> when the engine is cold/hot, on/off, etc, no leak << you don't mean this literally , then
[09:12] <@jacky> you mean you just can't SEE it
[09:12] <@jacky> dripping.
[09:12] <@Calum> no visible leak, is what I meant
[09:12] <@Calum> sorry
[09:12] <@jacky> np
[09:12] <@jacky> so.. back in the shop, to have them look for it?
[09:12] <@Calum> yep
[09:13] <@jacky> It won't hurt... to type up and print out, what you are sure of
[09:13] <@jacky> and give it to them
[09:13] <@jacky> they can choose to ignore it, if they wish
[09:13] <@Calum> yeah I guess it's worth doing
[09:13] <@jacky> some people are not articulate enough to clearly put down details
[09:13] <@jacky> you can
[09:14] <@jacky> when you said, "empty enough to raise the temp again"
[09:14] <@jacky> how high did it go?
[09:14] <@jacky> "hot"
[09:14] <@jacky> or just that "warmer than usual" like last time?
[09:14] <@Calum> 95 or so, same as before. Normal running temp is 80
[09:14] <@jacky> so it was still in the "ok" range?
[09:14] <@Calum> yeah, just warmer than usual
[09:14] <@jacky> !g 95C in F =
[09:15] <@jacky> and did it stay there? ie. did you drive it a while like that? or did you quickly get it shut down?
[09:15] <@jacky> I don't think that temp would damage it
[09:15] <@jacky> I'm just wondering if that was the peak... or if it wouldhave continued up
[09:15] <@Calum> it wasn't for long, I was dropping someone off and while we were saying our goodbyes it was fine, drove round the corner and saw it was higher, so I stopped and topped it up
[09:16] <@jacky> so we don't know for sure, if it would have continued to climb.
[09:16] <@jacky> ok
[09:16] <@jacky> np
[09:16] <@jacky> when you stopped,and filled it
[09:16] <@jacky> did you lose much, when you opened it?
[09:16] <@jacky> did it bubble out much?
[09:16] <@jacky> when you released the pressure
[09:16] <@Calum> none, but I could hear it hiss, and a little steam came out
[09:16] <@jacky> that sounds normal
[09:16] <@Calum> level was waaay down, not high enough to bubble over
[09:17] <@Calum> it wasn't boiling
[09:17] <@jacky> you were opening the radiator itself? or the overflow tank?
[09:17] <@Calum> overflow tank, I don't even know how to access the rad itself, can't find it in the manual?
[09:17] <@Calum> and I can't see any kind of cap for it
[09:17] <@jacky> different designs
[09:17] <@jacky> if you got a hiss, when you opened the overflow tank
[09:18] <@jacky> it might BE the access to the radiator
[09:18] <@Calum> that's what I'm assuming
[09:18] <@jacky> but, we don't know for sure that the radiator itself was way down
[09:18] <@jacky> not based on what I've learned from you
[09:18] <@jacky> interesting....
[09:18] <@jacky> you are sure it is going away though... so something is happening
[09:18] <@Calum> yeah
[09:19] <@jacky> well... it certainly won't hurt to give them all the details you've discovered
[09:19] <camerongray> !seen Mulreay
[09:19] <@jacky> especially the part about how long it takes to appear low
[09:19] <@Calum> yeah, I'll get them written down soon
[09:20] <@jacky> I wish you good luck with it
[09:20] <@jacky> I hope it is not a small leak in the head gasket
[09:20] <@Calum> thanks, and I hope not too...have been checking for oil in coolant and vice versa, nothing yet
[09:21] <@jacky> can't remember.... I think that when you get water in the oil, it is really, really, bad
[09:21] <@jacky> I've blown a couple
[09:21] <@jacky> one ... looked like I was fogging the highway
[09:21] <@jacky> heeheheh
[09:21] <@Calum> heh
[09:21] <@jacky> that one, went quick
[09:21] <@Calum> leaky head gasket would lead to a loss of power too, right?
[09:21] <@jacky> I did smell it a little before, but didn't realize what it meant
[09:21] <@jacky> then, when it went.... wow!
[09:22] <@jacky> if I'd continued to drive.... don't know if that would have hurt the motor or not... it was a bad leak
[09:22] <@jacky> other one... was small
[09:22] <@jacky> first noticed that heater wasn't heating
[09:22] <@jacky> got home
[09:22] <@jacky> checked
[09:22] <@jacky> found low water
[09:22] <@jacky> eventually realized head gasket was leaking a bit
[09:22] <@jacky> I think the plug on that cylinder was fouled
[09:22] <@jacky> been too long
[09:22] <@jacky> to remember
[09:23] <@jacky> anyway... replaced the head gasket, and it was fine
[09:23] <@jacky> no motor damage
[09:23] <@jacky> loss of power? sure... if it is bad enough
[09:23] <@jacky> but... I don't know about diesels.
[09:23] <@Calum> I dunno, just going off what I've read, here and there, more guessing than anything heh
[09:24] <@jacky> well... with a gas motor... if something is causing a plug to foul, so that cylinder is not firing... you lose the power normally generated from that cylinder
[09:25] <@Calum> ok
[09:25] <@jacky> camerongray: were you in #bots, when the join floods happened, an hour or two ago?
[09:26] <@jacky> Calum: first time I've seen that... join floods.. fortunately, I'd left the default settings on for that, and eventually Rog the bot banned five
[09:26] <@Calum> go Rog, heh
[09:26] <@jacky> heh
[09:27] <camerongray> I think i was
[09:27] <camerongray> Names such as xoGB3tFmp?
[09:27] <@jacky> Just wondered about it, was all
[09:27] <@jacky> yep
[09:27] <@jacky> obviously a randomly generated thing
[09:33] <@jacky> !w crapo
[09:33] <@jacky> !fc crapo
[09:33] <camerongray> !w Edinburgh, UK
[09:33] <@Calum> !w derby uk
[09:34] <@jacky> wow... we're all cold
[09:34] <@jacky> seems early this year
[09:34] <camerongray> You got snow Calum?
[09:34] <@Calum> snow...not especially. It kind of half-hailed, half-snowed yesterday, heavy frost today which is still around
[09:34] <@jacky> (did you see the fc for my area, for tomorrow??)
[09:35] <@Calum> snowed when I was in London on Wednesday, apparently it's heavy there today
[09:35] <@Calum> jacky: 100% snow, heh
[09:36] <@jacky> just lovely....
[09:36] <@jacky> sigh
[09:37] <camerongray> Snowed yesterday and it is still there today
[09:38] <camerongray> I'm up a hill so I get bad snow - Digging car out snow
[09:38] <@jacky> I don't like that, anymore
[09:38] <camerongray> heh
[09:39] <@Calum> don't mention snow/ice and cars....my car doesn't warm up, even if the coolant hasn't all disappeared, for 20 minutes or so
[09:39] <@Calum> disadvantage of a diesel heh
[09:39] <camerongray> hehehe
[09:39] <@jacky> isn't that a function of how much load you put on it though?
[09:39] <@jacky> meaning... if you let it sit an idle, it won't warm up quickly
[09:39] <@jacky> but if you drive it, it will be ok?
[09:40] <camerongray> I slipped about 5 times trying to get to the bus stop on my way to school and the buses are all delayed
[09:40] <@Calum> it is about how much load I put on it yeah, but it's hard to put much load on it with a 30mph speed limit....
[09:40] <@Calum> my mum's car, petrol, will arm up at idle
[09:40] <@Calum> *warm
[09:40] <@jacky> 30mph?
[09:41] <@Calum> normal speed limit in suburban areas
[09:41] <@jacky> wow
[09:41] <@jacky> no highways, huh?
[09:41] <@Calum> not outside my house no
[09:41] <@jacky> the road I live on... in front of my house, is 50mph
[09:41] <@jacky> but down teh road a ways, they put in a pre-school
[09:42] <@jacky> and lowered it to 30mph there
[09:42] <@jacky> that creates a speed trap
[09:42] <@jacky> I drove on the dam road for 30 years!
[09:42] <@jacky> if I ever get a ticket there, I'll be po'd soemthing fierce
[09:42] <@jacky> I drive out of habit
[09:42] <@Calum> heh
[09:42] <@jacky> and this is a hard one to adjust to
[09:44] <camerongray> They put speed humps on my road - They are so high any car that is remotely low will scrape off it if they go over 5mph - The limit is 20
[09:45] <camerongray> And they are those ones that don't go all the way across either so the car rocks from side to side when you drive over them
[09:45] <@Calum> ah, normally those bumps are low enough to go right over
[09:46] <@Calum> they were in London, I took them at...a speed I will not mention....due to being late
[09:46] <camerongray> hehehe
[09:47] <@Calum> my car seems to be fairly high off the ground to be fair, ideal for those situations
[09:48] <camerongray> At least they stopped the 'chavs' coming into the area to race - The streets here are quite wide so they get used as a race track by people from the near by council estate
[09:48] <@Calum> heh
[09:49] <@Calum> I know what you mean, lot of areas like that round here
[09:50] <camerongray> I am lucky - I am just out of catchment for the chav school
[09:50] <@Calum> heh
[09:50] <@jacky> what is "chav"
[09:50] <@jacky> ?
[09:51] <camerongray> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chav
[09:52] <camerongray> And they usually look like this: http://www.penguinsix.com/images/chav.jpg
[09:52] <@Calum> haha nice pic
[09:53] <camerongray> Chavs are funny when they aren't mugging you
[09:53] <@jacky> mug back
[09:53] <@jacky> you all are not allowed to have your own guns though, are you?
[09:53] <camerongray> no
[09:54] <camerongray> chavs have knives
[09:54] <@jacky> knives always lose, at the gun fight
[09:54] <@jacky> heheheeh
[09:54] <@jacky> see the problem? they have nothign to fear
[09:54] <@Calum> 99% of them have nothing to back it up, they attempt to intimidate peeople but if you're not scared, they are
[09:55] <@jacky> doesn't matter if you are 4 feet tall, and he's 6 foot 6
[09:55] <@jacky> if you have the gun
[09:55] <@jacky> :)
[09:56] <@jacky>
[09:56] <@jacky> need to run
[09:56] <@jacky> errand
[09:56] <@jacky> be back soon, I think
[09:56] <camerongray> cya

[11:37] <camerongray> hi jacky
[11:38] <@jacky> camerongray: Hello
[11:39] <camerongray> hahaha - Mulreay and I are having serious problems with a webhost and I just sent a massive rant demnding a refund - Now I feel better
[11:39] <camerongray> See it here: http://pastebin.com/m1a96a28e
[11:41] <@jacky> actually, with one quick read, that looks to NOT be a rant, but clear and to the point.
[11:41] <@jacky> good for you.
[11:41] <camerongray> heh, thanks
[11:42] <camerongray> I wonder what their reply will be
[11:42] <@jacky> you HOPE it includes the money
[11:42] <@jacky> heheeh
[11:43] <camerongray> Probably: We won't refund, you caused the problems, we know more than you, we don't have to refund you, look at the small print, blah blah blah
[11:43] <@jacky> you are within the time though? to request a refund?
[11:43] <@jacky> for any reason?
[11:44] <camerongray> I think so
[11:44] <camerongray> Account needs renewed on the 15th december next year so probably only three days
[11:45] <@jacky> I hope you get what you want, in a reasonable time.
[11:45] <@jacky> :)
