[17:24] <@Calum> hi
[17:24] <camerongray> Hey Calum
[17:52] <Mulreay> Hello everyone
[17:57] <Mulreay> Hi Calum
[17:58] <Mulreay> Just bought a PS3 off ebay camerongray
[18:05] <@Calum> sorry, was eating, hey mulreay
[18:05] <Mulreay> Heh cool
[18:05] <@Calum> Ebay all the way
[18:06] <@Calum> I picked up a ?200-odd TV card for ?25 the other day
[18:10] <Mulreay> cool
[18:10] <Mulreay> I just paid ?209.99 for a 160gb PS3
[18:10] <@Calum> sounds good, but I don't really know console prices
[18:11] <Mulreay> It's the HDD that makes it a steal
[18:11] <Mulreay> My old one was only 40gb ran out of space very quickly
[18:12] <@Calum> what's the HD used for on a PS3, other than saved games?
[18:12] <Mulreay> You can download games from the store, you can save music, videos and there is Life which is a world like second life that's about 4gb in itself
[18:13] <@Calum> ah right, cool
[18:13] <Mulreay> And demos
[18:13] <@Calum> last time I knew anything about consoles was ps2/xbox/gamecube era
[18:13] <@Calum> anything since then is a mystery to m
[18:13] <@Calum> *me
[18:13] <Mulreay> heh not a gamer then
[18:14] <@Calum> not as much as I used to be, and not a console gamer
[18:14] <@Calum> I did buy a load of ps2 and pc games today though, mostly games I used to have and want back
[18:14] <Mulreay> yeah I do that when I'm flush.
[18:15] <@Calum> PC gaming's always appealed more than console gaming though, to me
[18:15] <Mulreay> I've never really had a PC with enough muscle to play good games on it. I still play a load on this laptop but no high enders
[18:16] <@Calum> I never had a decent gaming PC till I built this one, but around that time I stopped gaming as much heh
[18:16] <@Calum> I only have about 2 higher-end games though
[18:16] <@Calum> and one is only higher-end because it's a rubbish port
[18:17] <Mulreay> I'm looking to get CoD MWII when this PS3 turns up.
[18:17] <@Calum> cool
[18:18] <@Calum> I enjoyed CoD:Finest Hour on PS2, played CoD 2 and 3 on a mate's Xbox 360 and hated them
[18:18] <@Calum> especially 3, it just didn't play right
[18:18] <Mulreay> CoD 4,5,6 are the way to go.. genius online love them.
[18:19] <@Calum> heh
[18:19] <@Calum> about the only game I ever played much online was BF2142, and that was practically online only, single player was rubbish and really not meant to be enjoyable
[18:20] <Mulreay> I'm running out of games to play on this laptop. Nearlly at the end of FFVII again and theme hospital is boring me.
[18:21] <@Calum> heh
[18:22] <Mulreay> May have to dust off some of the old dos games I have
[18:22] <@Calum> I re-bought the Unreal Anthology pack today, mate borrowed it and conveniently went off to uni....Unreal series are amazing to me
[18:22] <Mulreay> I have unreal on this. But the new one is to high end for this poor laptop. I did have it on PS3 and luuuvvvveed it
[18:23] <@Calum> heh bought that too
[18:23] <@Calum> have you played UT 04?
[18:23] <Mulreay> ??
[18:23] <@Calum> Unreal Tournament 2004
[18:23] <Mulreay> Thinking no
[18:23] <@Calum> that's a good game, nice graphics but easily manageable on lower end systems
[18:23] <Mulreay> Just the original and the newest one
[18:24] <Mulreay> I'll have a look
[18:24] <@Calum> it's worth giving it a try, even my family's desktop could manage it and it's an excellent game
[18:24] <Mulreay> will do thx
[18:25] <@Calum> np
[18:25] <@Calum> I'm going to try and get back into my gaming soon, before I'm too old :P
[18:26] <Mulreay> Heh I'm 30 and still gaming strong.. I'll be battering my kids on there virtual reality machines when I'm 60
[18:26] <@Calum> hehe
[18:29] <camerongray> I need to get into gaming - I need a new PC first
[18:29] <camerongray> This thing struggles with Sims 2!
[18:30] <@Calum> actually Sims 2 took more than you'd expect if I remember right
[18:30] <Mulreay> Yep I agree
[18:30] <@Calum> back in the day, my mate's higher-end PC struggled with it...but then again it was riddled with viruses and stuff as his dad was an "expert"
[18:31] <camerongray> hehehe
[18:31] <camerongray> This PC was quite good when it was new - In 1999
[18:31] <@Calum> heh, well it's better than some at least
[18:31] <Mulreay> You have to love it when someones Dad is an 'expert' and makes a complete hash of things
[18:32] <camerongray> Yeh
[18:32] <@Calum> yeah
[18:32] <@Calum> this guy was a complete idiot with PCs, he actually had to buy a book to tell him how to build it, then he had so many problems
[18:32] <camerongray> Like my uncle - Mr Expert blew up my PSU installing a new drive
[18:32] <@Calum> wondered why it overheated when he kept the case door shut, blocking the fan
[18:32] <Mulreay> Have you seen that on ITV?
[18:32] <Mulreay> Gone off noe
[18:33] <Mulreay> now*
[18:33] <@Calum> ?
[18:33] <Mulreay> That bridge that colapsed
[18:33] <Mulreay> callapsed
[18:34] <Mulreay> That copper died they found his body today on a beach
[18:34] <@Calum> I'm not in a room with a TV, and if I was I wouldn't be watching it heh...not to put a damper on things, I just don't watch much TV especially not the news
[18:34] <Mulreay> I always have the TV on in the background with the sound off, I'm listening to my itunes at the mo
[18:35] * jacky (the_kink@mib-436807B6.slsbmd.east.verizon.net) has joined #glitchpc
[18:35] * ChanServ sets mode: +o jacky
[18:35] <camerongray> Hi jacky
[18:35] <Mulreay> Hi jacky
[18:35] <@jacky> hello
[18:35] <@jacky> hello
[18:35] <@Calum> hey jacky
[18:35] <@jacky> hello
[18:35] <@jacky> have computer problems again
[18:35] <@jacky> might be hd about to go
[18:35] <@jacky> heard it click
[18:35] <@Calum> sorry to hear that
[18:35] <@jacky> it is old.. can't complain about its life
[18:35] <@jacky> it is a pita though
[18:36] <@jacky> found an old one, out in the shop... don't know if it ok or not
[18:36] <@jacky> was about to open it up, and tried it again
[18:36] <@jacky> and it booted!
[18:36] <@jacky> here I am
[18:36] <@Calum> heh
[18:36] <@jacky> does anybody here know where to get the jumper settings for a Quantum drive?
[18:36] <@jacky> if this thing is about to go, I need to get them fairly quickly
[18:36] <Mulreay> Sorry not me
[18:36] <@jacky> and ofcourse, the diagram doesn't match the actuall pins on the back of the drive
[18:36] <@Calum> usually they're on the top of the drive
[18:37] <@jacky> diagram has only 3 sets, and there are 4
[18:37] <@Calum> ah
[18:37] <camerongray> brb
[18:37] <@jacky> Calum: got a few min, to help me search?
[18:37] <@Calum> searching now
[18:37] <@jacky> on drive... info I see
[18:37] <@jacky> Quantum
[18:37] <@jacky> 3.5 series
[18:37] <@Calum> seem to remember I didn't have much success with my Quantum though
[18:38] <@jacky> in small letters "CX" might be a type of drive
[18:38] <@jacky> meaning... ?
[18:38] <@Calum> I don't think I could find the jumper settings I needed
[18:39] <@jacky> great.. sigh
[18:39] <@jacky> heheh
[18:39] <@jacky> http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=379
[18:39] <@jacky> and the darn pics don't tell you which set of drives they go with!
[18:39] <@jacky> or I'm looking to fast
[18:39] <@Calum> second picture down
[18:39] <@Calum> Quantum Fireballs CX
[18:39] <@Calum> *Fireball
[18:39] <@jacky> found CX with text search
[18:40] <@jacky> now.. which set of pics?
[18:40] <@Calum> the set below the text I'd say
[18:40] <@jacky> I guess it has bot above, because the below is has extra pin on top row
[18:40] * Tux2 (joshua@E33E54F6.8F502EB6.39CF04D1.IP) has joined #glitchpc
[18:41] <@jacky> doesn't make sense... does it?
[18:41] <@Calum> what?
[18:41] <@jacky> brb...looking again
[18:41] <@jacky> the pattern there is to use the one "below"
[18:41] <@jacky> the one below, does not match my drive
[18:41] <@jacky> ( I err'd above in comment)
[18:42] <@Calum> ah right, ok
[18:42] <@jacky> the one below has 5 and 4 pins, right?
[18:42] <@Calum> yep
[18:42] <@Calum> sorry
[18:42] <@jacky> getting magnifying glass
[18:42] <@jacky> brb
[18:43] <@jacky> aha
[18:43] <@jacky> it does have 5 above 4
[18:43] <@Calum> so they match up then?
[18:44] <@jacky> seems too
[18:44] <@jacky> trying to copy n print it now
[18:48] <@jacky> ok.. got that
[18:48] <@jacky> I wonder how big this drive is though
[18:48] <@jacky> found that metnioned anywheres yet?
[18:48] <@Calum> there are probably different models in the series, different capacities
[18:48] <@Calum> should say on it
[18:48] <@jacky> haven't seen it yet
[18:49] <@jacky> been looking
[18:49] <@Calum> is there a model number?
[18:49] <@Calum> other than CX?
[18:49] <@jacky> I wonder... have a google... does it seem to you that that CX series is 13G
[18:49] <@jacky> looking
[18:49] <@jacky> brb
[18:50] <@jacky> maybe CX10a891 will search on that
[18:50] <@jacky> brb
[18:50] <@Calum> that'd be it, 10GB at a guess
[18:50] <@jacky> yep
[18:50] <@jacky> quick google, and that looks to be about right
[18:50] <@jacky> cool
[18:50] <@jacky> well... what I've got seems to be running for today
[18:51] <@jacky> and I *think* found what needed to be copied to other hd
[18:51] <@jacky> well.. the most important stuff
[18:51] <@jacky> it will still be a big pita when time comes to re-do it all
[18:51] <@Calum> yeah
[18:51] <@jacky>
[18:51] <@jacky> anything else you can think of, that you'd do, to be as prepared as possible?
[18:52] <Tux2> I have a bad stick of RAM in my laptop. :(
[18:52] <@Calum> grab the drivers, any programs you might want
[18:52] <@Calum> always best to have them on a disk, just in case
[18:53] <@jacky> drivers.. as in nic , printer... vid card should be laying around here somewhere
[18:53] <@jacky> not a bad idea though...
[18:53] <Tux2> Yeah, if you want, I can always get you the drivers from driveragent.com :D
[18:53] <@jacky> just those three, right?
[18:53] <@jacky> Tux2: I never trust those things
[18:53] <@jacky> I prefer to get them from manufacturer
[18:53] <Tux2> Oh, okay.
[18:54] <@jacky> but thanks though
[18:54] <@jacky> :)
[18:54] <Tux2> I try to too, but sometimes you just can't...
[18:54] <@jacky> then... you go to them. :)
[18:54] <@Calum> hey, it's YOUR machine, I don't know what other drivers you need hehe. Maybe chipset drivers? Don't know...
[18:54] <Tux2> And I know a guy from there that resets my account everytime I hit 10 computers.
[18:54] <@jacky> lost me
[18:54] <@jacky> hit 10 computers??
[18:54] <Tux2> I have an account where I can scan up to 10 computers with it, before I have to pay again./
[18:55] <Tux2> So, he just resets it for me so I can download more drivers.
[18:55] <@jacky> oh.. it is limited.
[18:55] <@jacky> ok
[18:55] <@Calum> how much does driveragent cost? not interested in joining, just curious
[18:55] <Tux2> $30 per year if you get it on sale, otherwise it is $40 a year for 10 computers...
[18:56] <Tux2> Or, you can get a 2 month or week account for $14
[18:56] <@Calum> not as much as I was expecting
[18:56] <Tux2> $10*
[18:56] <@Calum> cool, thanks for info
[18:56] <Tux2> You're welcome. :D
[18:57] <@Calum> well, I need to leave for tonight
[18:57] <@Calum> good luck jacky
[18:57] <@jacky> Calum: tnx
[18:57] <@jacky> see you later
[18:57] <@Calum> catch you all tomorrow
[18:58] * Calum (Calum@mib-5795E494.leic.cable.ntl.com) Quit (Quit: )
[19:06] <@jacky> Tux2: would you believe it?.. heheeheh
[19:06] <@jacky> http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
[19:06] <@jacky> it is listed there
[19:06] <@jacky> the vid card, that is.
[19:48] <Tux2> jacky, what were you saying? I was eating lunch...
[19:49] <@jacky> np
[19:49] <@jacky> just that I found that driver...
[19:49] <Tux2> Cool
[19:49] <@jacky> found my copies of some others too
[19:49] <Tux2> Nice.
[19:49] <@jacky> kinda spread around
[19:49] <@jacky> trying to organize now
[19:49] <Tux2> Yeah. lol
[19:49] <Mulreay> jacky are you free?
[19:49] <@jacky> Mulreay: not very... is it a question?
[19:50] <@jacky> if it is short, I'll try
[19:50] <@jacky> what's up?
[19:50] <Mulreay> No it's ok Dangerbot is doing some odd things is all. No biggy
[19:50] <@jacky> describe
[19:50] <@jacky> maybe I'll recognize and can point you in the right directions
[19:51] <Mulreay> I have to .chan +channel every time he starts up
[19:51] <Mulreay> .+chan
[19:52] <@jacky> start up your bot
[19:52] <@jacky> do .status
[19:52] <@jacky> see what channels are listed
[19:52] <@jacky> if one that you want, is missing
[19:52] <@jacky> then do .+chan and add it
[19:52] <@jacky> then
[19:52] <@jacky> do .save
[19:52] <@jacky> just to be sure it is saved in the chanfile
[19:52] <@jacky> after all that
[19:52] <Mulreay> Cool thanks
[19:52] <@jacky> shut down the bot
[19:52] <@jacky> and start it back up again
[19:52] <@jacky> do .status
[19:53] <@jacky> and see if the channel you added is retained this time
[19:53] <Mulreay> Yep that worked thanks
[19:54] <@jacky> ( .save probably is set to occur on its own, occasionally.. can't remember how often ... maybe you didn't stay on long enough for it to happen on auto, and thus lost your settings for the new chan... that's a guess. )
[19:54] <@jacky>
[19:54] <@jacky> glad it worked
[19:54] <@jacky> :)
[19:54] <Mulreay> Added a new game as well. Myself, you and camerongray are owners so only we can start it in codingcafe.. it did work in space but has stopped, working on that.
[19:55] <@jacky> I assume that it is meant to be a multi-chan capable script
[19:55] <@jacky> do you have to enable the chans in the script?
[19:55] <@jacky> or perhaps by .chanset ?
[19:56] <Mulreay> Yes it did work in both but today stopped in space
[19:56] <Mulreay> Tried chanset no joy
[19:56] <@jacky> tried? heheehe
[19:56] <@jacky> read the instructions, in the script, and do it how they say to
[19:56] <@jacky> :)
[19:56] <Mulreay> The channels are set in the script
[19:56] <@jacky> aha
[19:56] <@jacky> now you are getting somewhere
[19:56] <Mulreay> Both are listed
[19:57] <Mulreay> I'll work it out..
[20:56] <@jacky>
[20:56] <@jacky>
[20:56] <@jacky> hope to be back later.... (fingers crossed )
[20:56] <@jacky> bye for now
