[14:45] <@Calum> hey
[14:45] <camerongray> Hey Calum
[14:46] <@Calum> shopping for a USB PCI card...hard to find one that fits what I want
[14:46] <camerongray> heh
[14:46] <camerongray> My connection is being a pain today so forgive me if I drop
[14:46] <camerongray> Wow - 10% Signal
[14:46] <@Calum> heh
[14:47] <camerongray> Some days it is great and others terrible
[14:47] <camerongray> Really wierd
[14:47] * Mulreay (mulreay@mib-C6B383F5.bagu.cable.ntl.com) Quit (Ping timeout)
[14:51] <camerongray> I might be moving to a DSL ISP so I could put the router upstairs
[14:51] <camerongray> Perhaps even run a cable to my room
[14:52] <@Calum> that would fix it heh
[14:52] <camerongray> yeh
[14:52] <camerongray> Failing that I might get a better antenna
[14:52] <@Calum> go for some powerline adapters
[14:53] <camerongray> Won't work here
[14:53] <@Calum> oh how come?
[14:53] <camerongray> Different floors and wiring from 1968
[14:54] <camerongray> We still have one of these old fuse boxes that you have to rewire when it blows
[14:54] <@Calum> ah, old wiring....fair enough
[14:55] <camerongray> If it was placed upstairs, there is a phone socket on the other side of the wall my PC is against so I could just run a cheap extension
[14:55] <@Calum> yeah
[14:56] <camerongray> I am still working on getting my parents to switch - My mum is hard to push to the unlimited package - She is saying "A 4gb a month limit is plenty" - Yeh Right
[14:57] <@Calum> 4gb a month is tiny...I sometimes download that in an hour or so
[14:57] <camerongray> yeh
[14:57] <camerongray> That's what i'm saying
[14:58] <@Calum> yeah
[14:59] <camerongray> The thing is - My parents hardly ever use computers - Or know much about them
[15:00] <camerongray> My mum is saying that because I installed firefox on her laptop - I broke the printer
[15:00] <@Calum> lol
[15:00] <@Calum> brb, desperately searching for something
[15:00] <camerongray> k
[15:01] <camerongray> Perhaps her idea of putting it in a damp conservatory that gets below 0c was what caused it
[15:02] <@Calum> hah found it, brb again to package it up
[15:02] <@Calum> heh yeah, that's not a healthy environment for a printer
[15:02] <camerongray> yeh - she got a wireless printer so she dumped it in there
[15:03] <camerongray> and she managed to switch a brand new PC to 115v
[15:11] <@Calum> back
[15:11] <@Calum> I can never remember which way round it is, whether switching to 115v on 230v kills it or just stops it working
[15:12] * Mulreay (mulreay@mib-C6B383F5.bagu.cable.ntl.com) has joined #glitchpc
[15:13] <camerongray> kills it
[15:13] <camerongray> Bang, Flash, Smoke, Broken PSU
[15:13] <@Calum> ah
[15:13] <@Calum> it's switching to 230v when the mains are 115v then, that just doesn't work
[15:14] <camerongray> yep
[15:14] <@Calum> hold on - a brand new PC, with that selector switch?
[15:14] <camerongray> yep
[15:14] <camerongray> Well - new in 1996
[15:14] <@Calum> ah, I was going to say
[15:14] <camerongray> yeh
[15:14] <camerongray> brb
[15:14] <@Calum> haven't seen that switch on a new PSU, other than cheapo ones, for years
[15:14] <@Calum> ok
[15:15] * Mulreay (mulreay@mib-C6B383F5.bagu.cable.ntl.com) Quit (Ping timeout)
