[03:45]<+camerongray> Tux2: If someone non-scottish wants to wear it, that's fine by me, they are awesome :P - Just not a fan of people trying to justify themselves as being Scottish or what seems to pass for a "kilt" in the US (I'd say they should be tartan or similar, wool and certainly not be one of those "utility" ones)

[07:53]<+camerongray> Never heard of acl?
[07:53]<+camerongray> Wait, not a question
[07:54]<PCdoc> someone bought this laptop for repair, said he bought this laptop from UK.
[07:54]<+camerongray> Never heard of them
[07:56]<PCdoc> anyways the laptop sux
[07:56]<+camerongray> lol
[08:40]<+pottsi> ACI does not exist in uk
[08:40]<+pottsi> sounds like a fake acer xD
[09:54]<Tux2> Hey camerongray, mind if I PM you?

[13:23]<jamer> So my school blocked for itself
[13:23]<jamer> Tor*
[13:40]<+camerongray> Cool
[13:50]<jamer> I know how they are blocking it and its funny
[13:50]<+camerongray> how?
[13:50] * pottsi (Mibbit@pottsi.staff.mibbit.net) Quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
[13:51]<jamer> Blocking direct IP access
[13:52]<+camerongray> Ahh
[13:52]<+camerongray> To all the nodes or something?
[13:52]<jamer> To anything
[13:52]<+camerongray> Ahh, how on earth do they do that?
[13:53]<+camerongray> At uni our network is COMPLETELY unrestricted
[13:53]<jamer> Web filter
[13:53]<jamer> Well we have these stupid laws
[13:53]<+camerongray> They physically can't do it on our connection
[13:53]<+camerongray> There is no central point where stuff could be blocked
[13:54]<+camerongray> The university has had an internet connection since the internet became a thing - They don't really pay an ISP, they just sort of "get" internet
[13:54]<+camerongray> They *are* the ISP
[13:55]<jamer> Lol
[13:55]<+camerongray> And then we are part of JANET which links loads of universities worldwide together - One of the best internet connections in the world
[13:56]<jamer> Ok
[13:57]<+camerongray> And we have a silly block of IPs
[13:57]<+camerongray> Every machine has its own public IP - Even the printers!
[13:58]<jamer> O.o
[13:58]<jamer> That's interesting
[13:58]<+camerongray> It's mental :P
[13:59]<jamer> It sounds like it
[13:59]<+camerongray> For example ceilingcat.inf.ed.ac.uk points to 129.215.58.80 which is a single workstation in one of the labs
[14:00]<jamer> Now I know why you guys have hackathons
[14:00]<+camerongray> Why is that? :P
[14:01]<jamer> To protect the campus machines better XD
[14:01]<+camerongray> lol - Hackathons don't involve hacking in that sense :P
[14:01]<jamer> Aww
[14:01]<+camerongray> They involve building cool stuff
[14:02]<+camerongray> The system is extremely secure - Loads of extremely crucial research data stored on it
[14:02]<+camerongray> All packet metadata is logged
[14:05]<jamer> Ah
[14:05]<jamer> My new GPU works great
[14:05]<+camerongray> Sweet
[14:06]<+camerongray> Big hackathon in a couple of weeks though :P
[14:07]<jamer> It scored a 7.1 or a .2 on windows index so o.o
[14:07]<+camerongray> Based around open data - The idea is to take publically available data or a API from a sponsor and use it to make something
[14:08]<jamer> Sounds like my competitions
[14:08]<+camerongray> YEah
[14:08]<+camerongray> These are all team based though
[14:09]<+camerongray> For example, one of the projects last year used Skyscanner's API to find flights that would take you the furthest distance for a certain price.
[14:09]<jamer> That sounds like fun
[14:09]<+camerongray> Yeah
[14:09]<+camerongray> You make up the idea though
[14:10]<jamer> We were told what to make o.o
[14:36]<jamer> camerongray I sent a picture of it on fb .. The gpu
[14:37]<+camerongray> Ahh nice!
