Session Start: Fri Aug 19 00:00:00 2011 Session Ident: #glitchpc [00:00] * Now talking in #glitchpc
[00:00] * Topic is 'Welcome to #glitchpc chat. Profanity, trolls, and impersonation are not welcome here. Street1 has become a Silent Keyboard. http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/savannah/obituary.aspx?page=lifestory&pid=139870551'
[00:00]<@BC_Programming> I don't watch CSI, mostly for the reason shown above... it's just ridiculous
[00:00]<Tux2> lol... I've locked a hard drive with a password before.
[00:01]<@BC_Programming> I mean they take like a black and white, degraded security tape, zoom in on the eyeball of somebody like 50 meters away whose eye is maybe 1 blurry pixel, manage to make it crystal clear and colourize it and then extrapolate the reflection in their eye, it's crazy retarded
[00:01]<Tux2> Yeah, I don't like a lot of those shows, only reason why I watch Eureka is because when they use technology, they do it in a way that seems "real", or at least plausible.
[00:02]<Tux2> The arguments are well written, and there is enough "background" to back up the "research"
[00:03]<Tux2> Actually, I don't think I remember one scene where they "enhanced" an image beyond anything that I could do...
[00:04]<@BC_Programming> I like stargate and stuff, even though there is a lot of laughable weirdness
[00:04]<@BC_Programming> like why the heck the stargate chevron thing needs to rotate
[00:05]<Tux2> lol, never really got into that....
[00:05]<Tux2> I used to be able to say that the only TV show that I watch is Eureka, but MLP kind of changed that...
[00:06]<@BC_Programming> I don't watch TV shows, at least not on a TV, heh
[00:06]<Tux2> lol, ditto
[00:07]<Tux2> hulu, netflix, and torrents can take care of all the TV watching you ever want...
[00:07]<@BC_Programming> torrents is my primary source
[00:08]<Tux2> You know what I don't get is studios who make the content so "restricted" that most people pirate it... They would make more money if they gave people easier, better ways to get the content, for really cheap, or free...
[00:09]<Tux2> So, I see 4 ads in the course of the TV show, but I see it for free? who cares..
[00:10]<@BC_Programming> all my stargate stuff is well in excess of 100GB, lol
[00:10]<Tux2> lol!
[00:10]<@BC_Programming> 73.3GB just for SG-1... but that's 10 seasons worth
[00:11]<Tux2> I really think that the entertainment companies are missing out on a whole bunch of revenue if they loosened up just a little...
[00:11]<Tux2> they could make more, and cut down on piracy.
[00:12]<Tux2> Sorry, just my take on it.
[00:13]<Tux2> Of course they just spend their money on more DRM, which is broken pretty quickly anyways...
[00:14]<@BC_Programming> heh, yeah, same with game companies
[00:20]<Tux2> I think Notch has a good way of dealing with non-legit copies. It displays a nag message, but still lets the person play the game. Besides, I know of at least 4 people who had a cracked copy but actually BOUGHT the game later when they had the money.
[00:23]<Tux2> Ugh, now I'm the one ranting for once...
